Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

Edit by pixiesbite

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

High GP thoroughbred may give you a foal that can win reining rosettes, arabian/GV cross may do well in cross country, but if the rosettes themselves are what you want most, stick to pure vanner.

Asking about breeds again haha default smiley :)

Is there any kind of sheet/forum topic/ or anything that I can reference to easily see which breeds excel at which skills?
By Retired breeder, 21st April 2018 23:15:25
So random question. I crossbred some of my AP horse...just because why not? I am wondering if it's possible to keep breeding consecutive crossbred horses to one breed until eventually the foal will be a purebred? I am thinking no since it's literally impossible, but then this is a game and there are pegasus and unicorns so who knows. Anyway it doesn't really matter too much, just a random curiosity. Thanks

It can never be bred back to a purebred. There will always be that 1% of the other breed. Hope this helpsdefault smiley :-))

If you go to community>directory>horses, you can see all breeds, with a statistics page that lists the foundation skill set for each.

I'd suggest going through and using that to make a list of each breed's top 3 skills. I organized each breed under each comp, with the oddball skill sets at the bottom, as that works best for me.

Hello! I am trying to get a rosette wining horse to help with VIP qualifying, I breed Arabian horses to high GP, whats the best cross breed with Arabians or is it not very recommended to use Arabians for this purpose?

Gypsy Vanners might be a good choice, seeming they’re some of the most skilled horses on the game and they have the same top 3 skills as Arabians. default smiley :)

Doom Arises at Midnight currently has over 1200 XC wins and is at 353 in the rankings. Debating whether or not to push her with APs now or not.

My latest cross-baby

Now to figure out how to increase all skills to equal or greater than 2000sk without compromising on the other skills. It's going to be loads of fun with the number-crunching!

It looks like the IBS is high enough that you can just squeeze by getting 2000 on all skills with that one by bolding alone. Or beach trot up a little bit if you'd prefer. Pretty nice!

Whats the most popular/most successful cross?
By Retired breeder, 29th April 2018 07:26:04
this is one of my first crosses I've attempted
Any opinions, criticism, or tips? Its all very appreciated, I'm trying to learn here (:

Link to the horse

Oh, yes, that one will be trickier!
Back when I bred my 1000GP in every skill horse, I know that the genetics of the Paso and Trakehner allowed for the genetics I wanted with that simple cross alone, because their GP was high enough, and they balance each other out. I had to take the more complicated route because the GP that would work wasn't available to those outside teams at the time.

I haven't been keeping up with the genetics rankings to see how high those two breeds are right now, but those are two possible breeds you could eventually add to your project that may help you out.

I don't know that I'd say there is a "most successful" cross, as it depends on what you want to do with the horse. High GP Appy x Thoroughbred crosses are popular because they're great at gallop rosettes. You have the Appy's high speed combined with the TB's high gallop. I think a few other players have posted some crosses that are lower in the primary skill needed for the competition they're targeting so the horse wins lots of lower level competitions. For example, a low trot skilled horse may do well in western pleasure comps if its stamina and dressage are high.

If there are any Thoroughbred only dressage competitions available, your cross might do well in them. Yours has a higher trot than purebred TBs thanks to the Lusitano you added in, so it has an advantage in dressage competitions. It should have a higher dressage than a purebred TB, too.

Am I a bad crossbreeder if I just take the same 2 junk horses and keep breeding them and keep the foals as AP farmers?

It doesn't make you a bad crossbreed. Id just consider you an AP breeder to be honest, I do the same when Im not aiming for a skiller or a comp winner.

I do the same especially when my fillers become too low in certain skills or turn into pass horses.

I have a Argentinean Criollo x vanner horse. His genetic potential skills are listed down below. My question is would I be better off to specialize him in Western or Classical?

Stamina 2605.08 Gallop 1508.41
Speed 1451.40 Trot 1117.51
Dressage 2315.52 Jumping 1526.47

Cross-country - or you can target train for trot comps
