Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

50/50 crosses of the same breed will take the second listed breed on the dam's side, you've got that yes. But the order listed is random. Fallen, for example, 50/50 Shagya/Paint. If it followed a pattern, then Shagya should have been listed first instead of second. I was going somewhere with this and now I can't remember...

If he'll throw an Arab foal that can see XC rosettes, can you blup him for me? How soon?
I can blup him by tomorrow just because its 23:21 for me default smiley xd

Perfect! Keep me updated, please. Now get some sleep!
he should throw possibly low-middle level XC rosette winners depending if you breed fallen with tears and you get lucky with the random 4% or normal result.

His skills are very similar to my XC rosette Winner Koun

Right now shes winning rosettes with 3500 lower difficulty but shes been around for a while so other horses are a bit better.

I have never used Discord, but I am sorta interested.

In other news, does anyone have any under-"dog" like stories but with crosses?

I have one.

I bought this guy last year back when the GP race was around 8-9k and the economy was where you could easily buy a cheap horse for 2500e. I got him for like 1400e and planned on reselling or using him for AP farming. And boy, am I glad I didn't. This is how he turned out: Dreamer.

He is being retired today as he gets a mix of 1sts, 2nds, and 3rds now and I want to refocus on the new guys.

Hey all,

Glad the crosses live on! I'm blown away with how far we've come on this journey.

Looking for a new cross myself, whats good to go with? Looking for either a cutting or a reining horse.

TIA!

Will check the breed directories.
Now I always try to have the foal breed to come out as the same of the less high GP breed parent you choose otherwise you are going to have problems winning big comps or rosettes if thats your goal.

In my example I cross Arabs with GV but because Arabs are still so far behing in GP in relation to GV I always want the foal to come out arabian that way I can do very well in my choosen disciplinefor arabian breeds.

If you dont care much for the rosettes then any particular breed you would like to maintain the look of?

Shoot me a PM if its easiar for you! default smiley :d

Hey there! I have just gotten off a long howrse hiatus and I have gotten curious about cross breeding! The only time I ever crossbred was back when I was new and just loved breeding my horses with 'pretty' ones. (Baisically I bred with any GA I saw.)

I found a good youtube video, 'Crossbreeding 101' on youtube and I am intrigued. and think I would like to try CBing. However, I still have some questions. I would really like it if any of you lovely people could answer. default smiley :)

#1
Why do cross breeding?

#2
Advantages/Disadvantages of doing crossbreeding?

#3
Are there known good crosses for certain competitions? if so, what are they? (Made up example, say 75% Arabs 25% GVs are ideal for XC)

#4
How to start cross breeding? I want to breed a horse that can win XC, prefferably one that would be identified by the game as an Arabian.

I hope I made sense. Will be starring this topic and checking back for answers. Thanks all!

Hello!
Welcome back!

#1 - Sometimes cross breeding can make super comp horses for a certain breed comp, specially if the cross main breed is one with lower GP than other horses (hope i made sence default smiley xd )

#2 - Advantages = for example arabian horses, by crossing a GV mare with arabian stud the foal will come out arabian, since arab and GVs have the same top 3 skills and the arabian breed is stilll way lower in GP than GV your arabian foal (depending on the parents GP) could come out with an higher GP than normal for arabian breed which will make you smash arabian only comps with ease

Take my horses: Koun and Prima Donna

Disadvantages = If you are not carefull or you dont want to take the time to smooth out skills if you breed two breeds with very different top 3 skills then the average of their individual skills can be lower (i believe, can correct me if im wrong or not explaining right)

#3 - The ones I have experience is Arav x GV crosses, if the foal is arabian dominant then with the right GP it can win very easily the arabian only XC comps.

#4 - For the XC comps and arabian dominant look then I would go for Arab x GV

hope i answered them alright default smiley ;)

What determines a cross breed's dominate breed? Like, the one that it will look like/ be able to enter that breed only comps?
