Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

im so happy with her. she has win me 10 rosettes in maybe 3 hours plus 99 wins just today!!!
Just having trouble looking and finding a pure or cross stud that will allow me to keep the arabian breed in her offspring and high skills in Stamina/Dressage/Jumping.

Also!!!
I would like to know which breed does a foal inherit if its parents are both 50/50 of the same breeds?

Example!

Dam: Arab x TB but shes a Arab
Sire: Arab x TB but he is a TB

does the foal inherit the sire breed or is there a 50/50 chance of being born arab or TB?

Since dad is a TB the foal will be a TB
thanks!

how about when they are the same breed?
Example:

Dam: Arab x TB shes a Arab
Sire: Arab x TB hes a Arab

(Arab x TB) x (Arab x TB) = born eather Arab or TB ?

or is born TB since i read that in this case the foal would come out as the second breed on the dam side?

I am currently breeding Hanoverians, and I was wondering if there's been crossbreeding in this breed before? I mean, is it possible to breed a Hanoverian with another purebred warmblood and get a purebred Hanoverian offspring? I'm considering trying this out, to improve skills of my Hanos.

Has anyone done it before?

Not sure if theres been any crosses with that breed, probably default smiley xd

Unfortunately when you breed 2 different breeds together you can never get the offspring to be 100% of only one breed.
Depending on the crosses you can get Hanoverian foals but they will never be pure.

If you breed a Hano to another breed, you get what's called, a crossbred.

And I'm sure others have crossed them before.

I think I have more than one, but where...I can't recall. I have about 200 cross foals collecting dust because my finished ones aren't being used.

Hano cross mare
^ that mare can be used for custom foals, if needed. I have what I need.

Just so there is no misunderstanding here, I know that when two breeds are crossbred, the offspring of course won't be of purebreed default smiley xd I only know they IRL (depending on the rules) will register Hanoverian halfblood as purebred, from what I have read default smiley 8-)

What I meant was, on Howrse, if I crossbreed, do I get a purebred or wil it show two breeds on the offspring's info?

default smiley :)

It will show 2 breeds, or up to 5, depending on the cross, because a cross is of course...a cross.

Only purebreds are marked as purebreds default smiley :d

It'll be marked one or the other breed it's crossed with, depending on parents or percentage. Like if you have 2 purebreds and breed them, the foal will be marked as the sire's breed. However, in its genetics tab it will show 50% X and 50% Y up to 5 breeds.

So I'm thinking about [ulr=https://www.howrse.com/elevage/fiche/?id=55226626]covering her[/url] when she's BLUPed with an appy. Would it turn out ok?

I'm seriously struggling with my cross breeding and advice. I know Gypsies are good with bringing up trot but are there any others that are good all around?

Depends if you want to breed for skills or a comper. Personally, I prefer Lusi's for bringing up trot. There are random crosses throughout my breeding farms that have Lusi in them. Another breed I've enjoyed in the past is Crios. They aren't good at trot, but if bred with a Lusi, trot would go up.

If i breed two Arabian cossbreed horses:

Dam: Arab x TB
Sire: Arab x TB

Does the foal come out with the sire breed or comes out TB?
Svart

When breeding two purebreds, the foal will always take the sire's breed.
When breeding two horses that have the same percentages of the same breeds in their genetics, it should take the mother's last listed breed. In this case a TB, if the breed order shown is how it appears in their genetics.

If the parents' breeds are different, but the percentages are the same the foal will take the sire's 2nd listed breed. If the dam is 50% Arab 50% Appy bred to a stallion that is 50% Gyspy 50% Lipizzaner, the foal will take the sire's 2nd listed breed which is Lipizzaner in that case.

I'll sometimes breed a test foal before blupping or spending breeding items just to be sure the foal turns out the breed I think it's supposed to be.

Not quite sure if I should blup this one:M 10057.32
He is: 50 Mustang, 25 Marwari and 25 Thoroughbred

Genetic potential Total: 10057.32
Stamina 1896.05 Gallop 2153.59
Speed 2190.23 Trot 900.22
Dressage 1517.03 Jumping 1400.20

I think I should try to get a foal that is less Mustang dominant but still Mustang as I want to bred one that performs well in Barrel Racing
Any ideas?

Hi,

Does someone have a good Lipizzaner combo for dressage??
I'm not sure anybody seen my question, I didn't see any responses to it...
If there was a response, I'm sorry for asking again.
Thank you for any help I can get. default smiley :)
Finally I got a good one! Sui-Feng
