Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

I have TB/Lustiano mix foals in my Lunar Eclipse Tab/and or Horses without a Breeding farm.
They're really nice for those.

Trying to decide if it's worth it to Tear breed this cross. Or if I should go for a better Cutting comper by bumping up Dressage and droping Gallop.

I am impressed with how close Speed and Stamina are, but that won't really help me with making a Rosette winner, I don't think default smiley (lol)

My guy is #1 for Trot for Morgans! I'm so excited! I've got another mare who should soon enough be ahead of him and another foal on the way who should as well. Here he is.

I have a Pesti that is 50% Lippizan and 50% Aussie Pony, and I would like her decendants to eventually be (perhaps very) roughly 50% Lippizan and 50% Friesian (my two favorite breeds) since cross breeding back to 100% is no longer possible (if her descendants pass Pesti on enough times). At what % will the Aussie disappear from the pedigree if I breed the descendant to a Friesian? I hope that question was worded in a way that makes sense! Thanks for any assistance.

After it goes below 1%, I think. I'm pretty sure I have an example of that kind of family line somewhere among my crossbreeds, I'll check later if I can find it.

Here's the horse mentioned above.

If you check the sire you see that it has 1% KWPN.

Is there a pure breed out there that has:
1. Speed
2. Stamina/Gallop
3. Stamina/Gallop (opposite of number 2)

I have this PB Lusitano mare Sheli and I currently cross lussies with Morgans but I was wanting to try crossing her with another breed but not sure what one. Something that would do well in western comps (don't really care which). Any advice?
I've got a 50% Connemara, 44% gypsy vanner, 6% lusitano mare. I want a Connemara-dominant foal with the highest skills/GP possible, so stud needs to be up there. Any recommendations? This is the mare, Numa. Bred her once to a barely GV stud and got a GV foal, so trying again.

Foals take half of each parent's genetics, so the filly ended up Gyspy Vanner because the father was 12.5 GV, and the mother 43.8 GV. The average of the two (28.1) outweighed the Connemara in her.

The suggestion I have that immediately comes to mind is to breed her with a 25/25/25/25 cross that doesn't include Gypsy. I don't think it would need to include Connemara if you don't want it to, because the foal would be something like 25% Connie, and <12.5% the other breeds. If Connemara was included in the 4-way cross then you'd certainly get Connemara.

However, I'm wondering if you Bolted her filly to a colt and bred it back to your mare whether you'd get a Connemara. If I'm calculating it correctly you'd end up with something like a
37.5% Connemara
35.95% Gypsy
14.1% Lus
12.5%Fjord

Maybe??

Yeah, I was doing rough math off the top of my head and should've figured the gypsy on both sides together lol. I'm thinking I will just take this filly and breed her to another Connemara or Connemara Mix stud if I can find a cover. I was just hoping to skip the GV gen because I'm not a GV fan default smiley (lol)

Wooo, in breeding back to a Connie I've got a 62.5% Connemara filly with 89XX GP. The Connemara father really boosted her stamina, too, and evened out jumping and gallop some more. https://www.howrse.com/elevage/chevaux/cheval?id=54956984

So, about a week ago, I started working my Fri cross that had about 7000 go on a daily basis. I have gotten her to 370 xc wins and hope to get to 750. If I get that, I hope to go as high as possible on the most wins ranking.

Hello, this will be my first time cross-breeding, ever. I had an account for about 3 years and always did purebred breeding. Left and came back to start over and decided it's time to cross breed.

I have a horse that is Appaloosa and good stats. She has very high Speed, Dressage and Gallop. What breed is typically high in the other stats so that I can try and cross to get a horse that is equally good in all stats?

I started reading this topic and go kind of curious. I decided to breed my 815* 93.8 Selle and 6.3 criollo mare Rain to my 100% 917* Lusitano Sound the Bugle. I'm honestly really happy with the foal I got, Sound of Rain. He's a lusitano but has more speed. I'm thinking about changing his gender or just waiting to breed the pair again and hope for a filly. I can't wait to get a female and keep crossing. Does anyone have any tips on what breed I could add?

Sound of Rain
I haven't figured out how to quote on my iPad, but @Little_River — Gypsy Vanner would boost your stamina and keep dressage and jump high. There are a LOT of GV/Lusitano crosses, if you want to keep the Lusitano dominant.
