Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

"A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse."

This also includes complaining or talking about what horses sold for in general. If you look on the previous page, comments including similar things have been censored. I, and I am sure many others, do not want to lose this forum.

On the other hand:

I am working on getting all my crosses to 100 BLUP and earning some comp money before investing into a new, higher GP line of LFWs.

Wow, been a little bit for me. Things have been crazy at home. But I came back to a nice surprise. ℛ℮ṧυяя℮¢тїøη won a rosette! Small fry to some, but it's been a seriously long time since a crossbred that I bred has won a rosette for me lol So I'm quite happy.

And hopefully tomorrow I can get to work on my next skiller. Once Saturday rolls through, I'll be off for a bit again since I'm heading out of town for the holidays. But I'm also hoping to get another project going once I get back.
Rosettes on our crosses are always a nice win. Plus one for us other guys. default smiley ;)default smiley (y) Good work.

I have a fully blupped Vanner mare (top sales GP) I’m using for a cross project - if anyone would like anything bred out of her, PM me to let me know before I find some other use for her. default smiley (lol)

I have been chasing the elusive rosette as long as I've been cross breeding! I struggle even with purebred horses! default smiley xd Congrats to you, @Gatlin! That's awesome!

On another note, I have this horse which I am not 100% certain how to proceed with. It is difficult, if not impossible for us to win competitions, but he might make a nice a nice founder for a cross. Any suggestions for a cross that would result in more consistent cross country wins? Thanks default smiley :)

@Serpentine, I will be sending you a message!!

Depending on what GP is available, you could cross to a Nokota for a breed-only comper - I did one a while back that did really well, but that was several years ago, so you might not get similar results now.

You could also breed to a KWPN (I hate to say it) to lower stamina while boosting dressage and jump, if you're looking for low-difficulty wins.

So, I've been working on my Marwari x TB x QH crosses and I *love* them. Their all under my Jaded tab default smiley :-))

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on what to cross a Mustang with for a good competitor? I'm wanting it Mustang dominant, but I'm stuck since I've never worked with them. default smiley 8-)
Miracle

My 1st cross in a long time. I aged the mare as I was impatient. I have 12 more mares from this set yet to foal. Letting those age naturally.

Then uh...I dunno when Tides will be 100 blupped, but then I'll be breeding for some Fri dom foalsdefault smiley :)

unfortunately you can't crossbreed unis. but i wish we could!
Top Flight is my newest cross. Actually having a lot of fun with him! Once I finish his training/rides he'll have the highest stamina for his breed.

If anyone has interest in using him for future crosses, I'm just a message away default smiley (y)

Nice, Newt! I might breed a round of "Abstangs" (Arabian x Mustang). They're on my list. I generally work from scratch, but managed to find a few in sales, so just going to start with those. Are they pretty popular?

Thanks! I'm really liking the cross for sure! Does really good in SJ and has excelled in cutting/reining too, so you can go both classical/western with it depending on taste. I think I want to keep my line Stang dominant, but am bouncing the idea around in my head still. I can help with the Arab side should you opt to dabble in them, I'm always happy to help a fellow crossbreeder whenever I can!

Another Arab based cross I loved were my Ariollos (Arab x Criollo) Cookies & Creme was an absolute monster in SJ when I bred him, wouldn't mind revisiting that cross line with fresher GO default smiley ;)

Hi! I've been into cross breeding for quite a while now, just haven't been active on here. I just bred this guy: Hui Long TB/Gypsy/Arab mix.

I think he turned out really nicely, with low trot but relatively high everything else. Do you guys have any opinions on how to train him? I really want him to become a project of mine. default smiley :) Willing to pimp.

Thank you for reading! default smiley (h) And although I'm late for Christmas, wishing you guys all the best in 2018!

With him being mainly TB, he may be a bit difficult to blup and comp. I tend to comp with breed-only and do low skill comps. So I would train up Speed and Dressage and then comp Gallop until 4 years and 10 months of age. Before 5 years old, I would switch over to Western and then train Gallop. Then finish out with Pleasure and Cutting.

I'm a little late, but someone said I should share the success of my crossbreeding project. I'm sure others have better 1500+ all skill GP horses, but I worked pretty hard on this one for months, so I love him. default smiley <:o)

Major, sincere thank yous to the crossbreeders who made it possible for me to complete my project by the holiday. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to thank you by name in the forum or not, but I'm so grateful for your help! default smiley (l)

Success
