Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

I'm very excited about my mare Newport Reds. No. 2 in Connie dressage, and I expect her to be 15 in the overall connemara rankings tomorrow! She is pregnant and currently equiped with A. tears. Going to be an XC star and maybe be the first rosette horse i've bred!

Any suggestions on what to breed my mare Lighters to once she's BLUPed? I want to breed her up to increase GP, I'm just not sure what I want that to be. I'm thinking either TB or Selle, but would like to dabble in some trot breeds too if I can get a covering. I want the foal to be at least 12800 GP, so I know it needs to be a top/Prix breed.

Thanks!
Thoughts on where this colt would strive best in comps? I have a similar cross I did years ago (one of my DAs) that excelled welll in everything in classic events.
Possibly will so classic events with him but not sure yet. Thoughts guys?

I'd do western with him just because I think he has more options. He would probably only do well in gallop comps in classical but western comps provide more flexibility by switching around his top three or four skills in comps.

Not 12800 but I have a BLUPed 12s TB

Hi again! I have yet another mare who I can't breed yet because of how picky I am default smiley (lol) I am looking for another crossbred stud, with gp above 12.3k if possible. I would prefer if the foal would result in connemara, because that's the only breed I can work with atm. Here are her genetics for reference.
Connemara
47.2%
Gypsy Vanner
18.9%
Icelandic Horse
14.8%
Lusitano
11.0%
KWPN
8.1%
So I am looking for a four way cross, even five if you have it. If your horse has high stamina that is a plus too!! Please message me if you have what I'm looking for, thank you!!

Need some help here, do these two colts work best for western or classic when they become grown mares?

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to cross a TB with? Thanks!

Looking to cross a GV with something to make a western comp horse. Any suggestions?
By Retired breeder, 28th January 2019 00:16:47
Fjords are good in westerns. So are selles.
By Retired breeder, 28th January 2019 03:41:36

Both would do best in Classical, as the first is a Cross Country horse, and the second is a Show Jumping horse. Of course they would also do well in other disciplines, as the first would also do well in target Western Pleasure or Reining and the second in target Cutting, Trot racing, and Gallop racing.
The foundation to my cross breeding was a 25% GV 25% Selle 50% fjord, she exelled in cutting. I retired her at 23 and she had 159 cutting wins. So my suggestion is add some Fjord, all my fjord mixs have done great at western comps.

I bought a GV/Marwari who destroys Western Pleasure comps. Definitely repeating that cross. Pasos could be fun too. They love Trails.

I have a high gp vanner male and was wondering what kind of mare I should maybe breed him with ?
I would say Arab or Fjord. Maybe Selle.

So I've got a French Trotter x Selle mare with 12936.41gp and close to 17k skills. I'm looking for a stud that is a three-way cross (with none of those crossed with being Selle) and ideally above 12800gp. If someone has a stallion, please let me know.

Also, her male twin will be able to offer coverings soon if someone needs any default smiley :) Just reply here or message me.

If you still want a foal that is good with cross country competitions, then Arabian horse can be a good choice

What would happen if I bred two drafts that were both 50% shire and 50% drum?

How are the breeds listed?

Target bred this mare for low difficulty barrels. Might look to bring up speed a little to kill higher levels
marwari x gypsy

Anyone have any idea why this foal is GV dominant instead of Wari?

37.5% Marwari
37.5% Gypsy Vanner
25% Lusitano

I know the bloodline percentage of Wari and GV are both the same, but I figured since the father was Wari dominant that would be the deciding factor in the foals.

This foal's lineage is an exact duplication of this mare.

The ONLY difference being, for the mare, the Lusitano/GV (50-50%) cross was the sire, and the Wari/GV (75-25%) was the dam. I thought that by changing the genders of the parents the sire's dominant breed would take precedent in the circumstances of the origins.

I like the genetic potential distribution of Gallop > Dressage > Stamina in this foal and want to continue a solid lineage with this horse and a sibling. Are all the horses going to be Vanners, or will be be randomly decided? Any thoughts? XD

The last listed breed on both the sire and dam is Gypsy Vanner, resulting in the foal taking this breed as the dominant.
