Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

Anyone got any ideas or tips with what I should cross a Hanoverian with? I've been breeding purebreed Hano's my whole game, but I'm interested in seeing the skills of a crossbreed one.

I think you could go several ways with that one. I'm a fan of stamina breeds, so I personally might try a GV x Hano cross. You could cross a GV x TB to a Hano to help keep the speed up. It kind of depends on what skill set/comps you want to excel at. A Mustang x Hano would keep speed and gallop up while improving stamina (good for barrels). Throwing some Lusitano in there would boost dressage while keeping up gallop and improving trot, but will sacrifice jump. Again, depends on your goals.
Hano's seem to compliment several other breeds.
I've been messing with breeding cutting mixes, I started with a 10,100 gp fjord mare, and breed with random breeds (mainly arab, criollo, fjord, selle, and gypsy)
here are some i am pretty happy with.

Is anyone interested in doing a group project?

I want to develop my Legacy line more and it is a really great and easy cross to work with.

Friesians and KWPNs? I have a pair of 11s Friesians, a 11s KWPN horse and a 6 KWPN mare.

How does everyone keep bloodlines straight so as to prevent inbreeding? I've started using Affixes to trace from original Broodmares for PBs and to trace from major Stallions for crosses. Uncertain how to denote mixed Houses for my GVs as I have 3 original mares for that breed and I've been crossing them.
I have a quick question. I have two horses who are fully blupped and both are 50/50 Friesian + GVanner blend. I was under the assumption that the foal would be the same as the father (hence, Friesian), yet each time I breed them, I'm getting Vanners. Did I understand this wrong?

I don't pay attention to inbreeding myself, since there are no effects from it.

However, my All Breed projects are not inbred as I started with foundations of each breed. I keep that organized in a spreadsheet, so that's something you can try. Or writing out family trees by hand.

Is this horse one of the foals?

I had a look at the parents, and the issue is that since they are both 50/50 of the same two breeds, the foals they produce will take the dam's last listed breed, which is a GV.

If both parents are 50/50 (or 25/25/25/25) of different breeds, then the foal takes the sire's second listed breed. If both parents are purebred, then that is when the foal take's the sire's breed.

If anyone is interested in crossbreeding with me please pm me. Skills, breed, and gender doesn't matter. Thanks in advance.
Just thought I'd show everyone my Irish Hunter cross Riordan I bred a few days ago; he's crossed with a Selle Francais, and has been able to earn rosettes (the first Irish Hunter, even if he's a cross, to do so since rosettes first came into the game).
I didn't skill him properly as I wanted to save resources, but he came out okay!

Riordan

The next Irish Hunter crossbreed I wanna try is with a Gypsy Vanner, so if anyone has a high GP purebred vanner I can borrow, let me know default smiley :)

Furthermore is Arab/Quarter

She has a couple of nice foals but she was hard to BLUP herself.

Gallop/dressage/speed crossed with a stamina/dressage/jump would be interesting. Would make a good western cross but the QH would bring down the stamina skills and the Arab would bring down the gallop, so the only high skill (assuming its a 50/50 cross of similar GP) would be dressage. You could get some good compers after a couple generations.
Can you ask for a cretin Stallion covering here?

Yes. They are Friesian dominant Fri x KWPN crosses.

I would be willing to do the above cross together.

It is [url] not [link].

If it is a certain mix, I believe so. If it is pure, then likely not.

I'm looking to get back into crossbreeding, if anyone wants a player with some time and APs feel free to PM!

If you are interested in Cross Country Friesian crosses, then we can talk.

I have a line called Legacy Friesian Warmbloods. They are 50/50 KWPN Friesian crosses, dominant Friesian.

Sounds great! default smiley :)

Currently their gp is on the lower side, average 7500 gp. However, they are still considerably easy to blup and train.

Ok so I'm just starting to consider crossbreeding some of my paints. I have a couple purebred paints with high GP however I cannot breed them anymore because all the offered coverings are lower than her GP and wont really help her offspring. That being said I have thought about crossbreeding but dont really know where to start. So what are some good options to crossbreed with paints. I've only ever done purebreds so I'm not sure where to start and does crossbreeding drop the price of the horses since they are not purebred?

Well, If you are looking for a good Gallop comp horse, Id cross her with a QH or a TB. Crossing witha Criollo might make a good Barrel Racing or Cutting horse, depending on how the skills come out. Those would be my first thoughts. PSH is another option. It kinda depends on what you want the horse for. Id look at a list of all the breeds and their skill sets. I keep one in my forum and im constantly using it.

For myself, If wondering if anyone has any thoughts about a TB Crio cross. That is what I'm thinking of crossing, but wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions for a breed to cross with a Crio instead.

It is not certain what you will get unless you breed a PB GV (mare) and PB Friesian stallion.. Then, you will have a friesian foal instead of a gv foal
