Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

Newfie/Walker if you want to hit the boards or have an amazing trail competitor.
Or something like a KWPN cross that is high dressage and target the cross country comps.

And I'd be interested in the team idea

Hi crossbreeders!
Do you guys know of a good Icelandic Horse mix I could breed for fun?
Thanks! default smiley ^)
By Retired breeder, 14th February 2017 00:33:39
@wildwild,
I'd recommend Thoroughbreds, because their top skills are also Speed, Dressage, and Gallop. On US Howrse, a Thoroughbred Icelandic cross once won the prix for Gallop. Of course, it doesn't have to be that serious, but that is still a strong choice. Those skills can become reinforced if you breed both together.

The Icelandic Horse's top skills are Stamina, Dressage and Trot and mixing with a Thoroughbred will even and flat out the skills, that may be what you want but there are other breeds with a Stamina/Dressage/Trot skill set (Standardbred and Friesian I believe?) which may work slightly better if you are looking to improve the skill.

What are the best horses for cutting and barrel races? I need a few good breeds, best ranked please.
By Retired breeder, 14th February 2017 02:13:22
PM Me with more info plz

The two barrel race breeds are mustangs and mawaris, with mustangs being the prix breed (and the best fit skill order wise).

Cutting horses are Quarter ponies, Argentinian Criollos, and Fjords, with Criollos being the prix breed, and both Criollos and Quarter ponies being the best fit skill order wise.

What about thoroughbreds, quarter horses, paints and Gypsy vanner... Where do they all fit in here?

Thoroughbreds: Best Gallop Breed
Gypsy Vanners: Best Cross-Country Breed

Quarter Horses: Good at Reining and Gallop *but not the best
Paints: Good at Gallop *but not the best

Im trying to get more well rounded skillers for competing outside of just gallops
¿Donde esta mi gato? has finished out the day with just 4 XC wins. Have about 20 left to run. Really excited to see what he has in the morning.

He also has a full-blooded sister that I am planning on breeding to a Freisian x Gypsy Vanner out of curiosity.

What would happen if I crossed Mustang+Thoroughbred+GypsyVanner?
By Retired breeder, 15th February 2017 12:12:51
Starset (#4 TB Team) is cross friendly, if anyone needs a cover. Just ask me or Crown of Thorns.

I've taken a small break from the game for personal reasons, but it's time a came back. That said, I should have my second gen. Fry/Selle soon.

Ok, so I see that you are breeding 50/50s together to make a second gen. Quick question. If I breed, let's say an Arab/TB to another, how do I make sure the foal is the dominant breed of the parents?
