Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

Anyone have a Nokota? I'm trying Nokota x Marwari.
Does anyone have a stam/dress/jump (any order) cross? No Selle or Akhal, and above 7100 GP please! Thank you!

How high of a GP are you looking for? I have a 7173 GP that I can blup for you.

Also, does anyone have a male Barb/TB of 6900+ GP that I could have a cover from?

Can't Kill Death is what happens when I have too much time on my hands. default smiley xd I also have 3 lower IBS siblings of his.
I just have a question about cross breeding. Would it be possible to eliminate one skill entirely? Like breeding horses that have one low skill and eventually getting it down to zero

Rainy, could I possibly have one?

You used to be able to, back when negative GP was a thing, but now GP (overall and individual skills) can only go up, so no it wouldn't be possible.

Since we have automatic GP gain, we can't breed for lower GP, even if you are only trying to lower one genetic. You might be able breed a cross in a way to purposely make one skill the lowest, but you can't breed it down to 0.

PMed you, Hanley.
So I am trying to get back into this thing. I used to be extremely active in this part of the forum. Crosses were my biggest money makers and funded everything for me. Now I have this guy.

He seems to do nice in Barrel Racing but I was shooting for a XC based horse.

For that, does anyone have a high GP KWPN mare that can be bred to a Friesian stud for me?

Are you planning to BLUP him? If you are I would love a covering from him.

Yes I am. I am doing two comps a day plus training. He just really struggles with comps though

Since you're already above the rookie limit I would go ahead and finish up dressage and stamina, then enter pleasure or reining comps to get your wins. You'll just have to do trail eventually to get your jump bolded

When blupping I train up my three skills to about 600, enter comps to gain all the skills from that, train up what's left to just under the rookie limit and then enter comps until you get your wins. I saw someone make this suggestion either here, or in the blupping topic once and it's worked like a charm for my crosses and purebreds.

I tried that but trained up WAY too close by accident. Has been I think over a year since I trained something with high GP on Howrse. Thanks for the advice.

yeah, it's definitely a method that requires caution so you don't go over. That's why I only go to about 600, and then enter my comps. You could enter the comps right off the bat as the skills from comps are what used to accidentally put me over the limit. As long as I enter by 600 skills I stay safely under.

x is being a butt to comp. Showed him today for a bit and did not get any wins. Still stuck at his lousy 2 wins.

Maybe try finishing Dressage and do speed then enter in low difficulty trot and gallop races. That's how I usually blup any of my horses, no matter the breed. Sometimes it works well, sometimes it doesn't.

Seriously? My post was not a sales ad. I was showing a horse I bred to skill then sell. It wasn't even for sale when I posted. This game is getting more ridiculous than normal

Working on training horses for cross-country!
I've been experimenting with different crosses between Arabs/Knabs/KWPNs/Irish Hunters
Thanks to my high-skill (purebred) KWPN, I've gotten some pretty good cross-breed foals!
