The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

I've got seven trot wins on my currently BLUPing foundie...and as usual I am impatient for comps to run and results to come in so I know she has her wins. Time to break out the fillers, I think.

Does anyone here BLUP their NIBs without any skill boost items?
By Retired breeder, 4th January 2010 15:43:23
Hello, fellow NIBers!

Inner Chorus: I do, unfortunately. But it's taking so long, that I get bored after some time and don't even look their way for weeks. I'm trying to use at least one skill boost item if I can.
By Retired breeder, 4th January 2010 16:42:17
Inner Chorus,

I BLUP most of my Appies without skill boost items. And have been getting them BLUPed, not fully bolded, by about 11-12years. I've been giving my stallions a GA, more because I wanted something different to look at than to give the boost. default smiley ^)

If I get really frusrated and just can't get the wins, I start with a MB, but haven't had to do that in quite awhile.

One of my foundation bred mares reach her 20 wins by 6year, 8months. No extras added!

T~

I'm getting some frustration with my Dons - competitions take ages (some have been there weeks default smiley (li) ) to run and then some of those horses with stars enter and win...

I have bad feeling that I might just accept facts and breed them without all wins default smiley :'(
By Retired breeder, 4th January 2010 17:51:42
The only consolation I have is that most all of my foundies have or will get a P.stone. This makes it easier in blupping but that doesn't help much when I start breeding.
By Retired breeder, 4th January 2010 17:54:09
They should have a stars thing so horses up to this many stars can get in the competions (c) ellenwfan idea lol
I am still waiting for someone to buy my stangs

Taking 3 passes for All of them or 40k
By Retired breeder, 4th January 2010 17:55:24
There is 5 of them default smiley :)
By Retired breeder, 4th January 2010 17:58:10
Wow, anyone BLUPing without skill boosts is brave - not sure I would want to do it without a Tack Pack or at least a couple of good items now. I used to do it the slow way back when I had arabians instead of newfies; I remember it taking ages as I didn't use MA and only had a few aging points. I suppose it would be okay with young foundies or foundations that I've trained from foalhood upwards, but for anything with irritating bits of training done it would be too difficult for me to attempt, heh.
By Retired breeder, 4th January 2010 18:06:08
At this time, I'm trying to BLUP a foundation Arabian mare, whose got a seahorse. Unfortunately she was almost fully trained when I bought her, "only" needs to do some rides and stamina training to be fully bolded. I'm having a really hard time with her, did not want to add a tack pack, but probably have no choice... default smiley :(
By Retired breeder, 4th January 2010 18:08:16
What are you currently doing with her? If stamina is untrained, I'd leave it that way and do cross country comps.
By Retired breeder, 4th January 2010 18:17:21
I'm doing almost everything, cross country comps mainly, but also trying gallop and trot comps. She's 15 years old and has 3 wins. Disappointing really.
By Retired breeder, 4th January 2010 18:38:28
Good luck - looks like she has a lot of second places so maybe a 1-pass item like EW or H. Horseshoes would tip the balance and get those wins in. She's got a nice high GP so worth sticking with. Perhaps a lot of box time until she finds the Grease and then as many comps as you can when she has it? I remember that working with some of my more troublesome arabian foundies.
By Retired breeder, 4th January 2010 18:53:28
Thank's for the advice. default smiley :) Yes, her GP is why I bought her. I'll put something on her and continue the work. default smiley :)
By Retired breeder, 4th January 2010 20:14:10
lol Inner Chorus: I pretty much always have to blup without any bm items ^_^ Any I do have go on my IHs to help my EC, so I get the feeling my foundie blupping is going to be v.slow indeed... ^_^
By Retired breeder, 4th January 2010 20:18:46
default smiley :) Still for sale the Mustangs
By Retired breeder, 4th January 2010 20:25:31
Inner Chorus, i have 2 Newfie fillers. What is left to run and i can try and help them to get going?
By Retired breeder, 4th January 2010 21:23:31
I'm blupping some of my barbs with just little helping items. For example I have 2 mares with just seahorse. But I think it's bit easier with barbs since theres not that many greatly starred barbs out there yet and with my foundies I try to get into 0% comps.

But what I'm prud of is my boyfriend. He's not that active in howrse, only takes care of his horses once a day, and still he managed to blup his PSH foundie stallion very fast. The horse was only little over 11 years when blupped. Well, he did use some very helpful items but theres quite a lot of spanishes out there to compete. Now he still have to bold the rest.
By Retired breeder, 4th January 2010 22:00:46
The Top GP List has been updated default smiley :)
By Retired breeder, 4th January 2010 22:31:07
I have a foundie paint mare, who luckily, already had timer on her. She also wasn't trained at all, which is a bonus. I am almost at shows, which shouldn't take long.
By Retired breeder, 4th January 2010 22:41:52
Thanks for the offer kaliko99 - just logged back in to check and she's actually got enough wins, hooray! default smiley :d
By Retired breeder, 4th January 2010 22:58:53
