The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

Hmm, it sounds intresting but is breeding NIB's difficult? And does it mean that you dont breed horses in the same family? xxx
By Retired breeder, 1st January 2010 16:49:29
sarah 67, i dont find NIB breeding difficult, it is just more challengning and more time consuming than high GP breeding. I line can only appear once any where in a howrses tree for it to be NIB, so i means alot of blupping to keep a constnat supply of new lines default smiley :)

I've been reading about the problem with disappearing horses, and thought that I'd share the method I use to keep track of generations. It worked very well with my mustangs before I sold them all, due to a lack of time to work on them. When selling horses, buyers would kind of have to take your word that the information is accurate, but at least it's a record.

I made a new account on Geni.com just for my horses here. Every time I breed one of my mares, I add the new foals under her and add the complete family tree for the new father. I also make a back-up record with Excel, but the Geni thing comes in handy when you have breeding partners. Then, you can all share a user id and password, and go in there and update information on your horses.

Here are a few screen shots of my Morgan line on Geni. You can see how handy it is:

Good idea sacrafice, I can'r do that, I might just have to buy hundreds of foundatios and do my own line for fear of dissapearing horses. I saw a 350.6 GP foal and both parents dispareared. Strange.

Careful rocket, I'm bidding on that one default smiley ;)

I still have my foundation mare. I think I am going to give this a shot (if I can find a breeding partner).
By Retired breeder, 2nd January 2010 01:04:26
@ Alassiel and rocket_girl, remember that foundation PSH before games? There were like 6 bids on it, so I raised the bid to 10k, and hoped it would be enough. I went to check on her, and she wasn't there! I couldn't find her anywhere. I was so sad, I thought I was outbid, but I had gotten a PM from the owner in response to a message I sent earlier. What I said earlier was asking if they could put it in PS for me, but they didn't have the requirements. So when I looked at the message, I was superduper happ, they agreed to hold her for me. So I will pay them the 10k and the fee to take her out. So if they don't put her up for sale, I'll be getting a new foundation foal! I am so happy!

@ Alassiel and rocket_girl, (sorry to post two in a row!) I also have Rivenwood watching for any foundies too! See the message below.default smiley ;)default smiley :)

Pintar5 - I am keeping my two PSH boys but they're available for coverings. If I see any foundie PSHs for sale I will be sure to let you know.
By Retired breeder, 2nd January 2010 01:57:13
Is anybody here but me?
By Retired breeder, 2nd January 2010 04:32:50
How do you get a new foundation horse or 2nd gen? I would like to try the no inbreding but cannot seem to find a horse that is not inbred
Sweet Angel: When you're looking through the sales, try looking for a purebred horse of whatever breed and less than 351GP. You should be able to find a few then. Although most untouched foals will possibly cost a pass, and if you're looking for a starter breed then most people(not all, mind you) normally put BM items on those horses, so they might also put them up for more passes. If you're looking for a properly gamed foundation, they might also cost more.

Just a thought, but that's how I do it.

In response to those looking for foundation PSHes, look under my PSH for Sale tab.
.
ITS Nutty and ITS Peppermint are young foundation stallions needing their BULPing finished.
.
There are also 5 2nd generation NIB PSHes -- names start 2G.
.
Red Rob and Red Roy are special -- they are twins who are only related to each other and their parents who are newly BULPed foundations in their first breeding -- so these two 2nd generation colts bring in a whole new bloodline with very limited relations.
.
The other 3 2nd generation are just normal 2nd gen, have siblings around the place.
.
All other PSHes, except Senor Milo and Mtztery who are standing foundation studs and will be remaining with me, have been sold or are in negotiation, with possible exception of Ach Medias Ghostess who is fully BULPed 2nd gen broodmare and pegasus under PSH Breeders.
.
All reasonable offers will be considered. I'm getting out of PSHes and into Morgans. Have a few foundation Morgans under "Other Horses" that I'm not keeping, but I don't have them separated out yet.

Pintar5,
.
On your foal with disappeared parents it sounds like the breeder sold the foal and then deleted or restarted his/her game before selling the parents. In this case it would be hard to find out anything since there would be no names.
.
But if breeders keep good records of their horses' family trees, if a horse disappears on the tree they will have the "paper" records to show the lineage to see if NIB or not. Then it is just a matter of whether you trust the person with the records or not. But if family trees were kept for each horse it would make life easier when coming across disappeared horses.

Yankee Lady, the foal isn't mine, just happened to see it in sales.
I was wondering, if I have screen shots of the family tree and the howrse disappears after can that still be a NIB? I have a mustang that has a NIB tree but I do not own any of the others.

sandiful has some foundies in the private sales if anyone here is looking. I noticed a couple of barbs and a paso, but there may be others. =)

And wow, my link actually worked.
By Retired breeder, 2nd January 2010 22:06:59
I have 4 untouched foundation shetlands in sales if anyone is looking for some.
By Retired breeder, 2nd January 2010 22:44:33
I have another question, sorry to be annoying. When breeding NIB horses, how far back into a line to you have to go - right back to the beginning? This is a dumb question and I'm guessing the answer is yes, but I'm just wondering how many foundies to buy... ^_^
By Retired breeder, 2nd January 2010 22:46:58
Has anybody seen any foundie PSH foals under 6 months lately? I've only seen one, and newbie is holding her for me until they can't get to PS. I haven't seen any 351.2 GP foundies, expept looking at Yankee Lady's breeding stock, but she probably won't sell those.
By Retired breeder, 2nd January 2010 22:48:43
Rocket_girl and Alassiel, who won that 350.96 GP mare? Congrats if it was one of you two.
