It's about time the NIB breeders had their own corner of the world default smiley ;)

Curious about NIB horses? Want to know what a NIB horse is? You've come to the right place!

What is this topic for? NIB enthusiasts to find each other and help one another progress in their respective games.
Otherwise, you may use this topic to help others learn about NIBs, share your experience, and find friends that breed NIBs default smiley :)

The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

I just wanted to pop in and say hi to everyone. It's been a minute since I've been on. How is everyone's projects coming along? I need to get back to working on my foundations. Now that I have almost 150 Hanos, I have more than enough to do lol.

Hey Axel'sMommy! I've been getting back into working on my project after like, a two month break. lbenedict15 graciously gave me a whole load of Hackneys so now I'm up to 8 generations. I just need one more Hackney and something around 10 z. bolts. lol

Okay, I'm really excited because I have my first true NIB Entry. This is especially exciting because I can finally get my project going. Two days ago I got my last foundation paint horse that I was seeking - a rare 2007!

If I had known how hard it was going to be to get to this point I might have chucked the whole project but now I'm so pumped I can hardly stand it! default smiley (7)

My entry is going to look really low and puny here because my project is to blend the original gain paints with the rolling gain paints and I chose to do this by year to honor the game I have come to love (warts and all - yes, I'm not fond of all the changes either).

Hi everyone! I recently created a new account after leaving the game years ago. I have a Gaia's Foal and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for what I should go for. I currently have 2 Irish Hunter foundations. Are there any breeds whose foundations have really high demand?
By Retired breeder, 4th January 2019 04:05:55
Hello, everyone. Sadly, I believe it is my time to leave the game. I haven’t played for quite some time and would rather the horses and items I’ve accumulated go to players who will appreciate them and use them. If anyone is interested in Appy founders, please let me know.

Hello Everyone!
I have decided to get out of NIB, i have a few foundies and i was thinking someone might be able to use them in their breeding program?

feel free to pm me if interested
By Retired breeder, 9th January 2019 22:37:57
I've only bought one bought one foundation horse off of the auctions, but am planning on getting more. Last time i clicked on each horse and dug through pedigrees to see of there were any crossbreds, so I'm wondering if there's a quicker way to check if a horse is NIB when I go through auctions.

Thank you!
Sorry to see you guys go! I know myself I cleared out my own NIBs back and now starting up again.

Bwoller, unfortunately at this time there is no easier way to do it.

I've looked over the main topic and have noticed that the French Trotters have not yet been included, yet other new foundation breeds have been.

Why are our Frenchies not included? default smiley *-)

I know Twinjodi has posted a horse or two.

I think the efforts of French Trotters breeders should be included. default smiley (y)

@tigrelily and Twinjodi, I was about to come in here to announce my retirement from NIBing but seeing you two posting in here, maybe I'll hold on a little longer. All my fellow NIBers who I got introduced to NIBing by seem to have gone their separate ways. But maybe it's worth sticking around now.

I check in here as often as I see new messages, but I'm not much for posting in the forums. I'm still working away in my little corner, mostly still working with NIB Newfies. I don't spend money on the game anymore so my personal progress just gets slower. default smiley (lol) I admit I'm more a collector now than a breeder, but getting wins on the original gp foundies has gotten more difficult. I don't ever plan on actually giving it up though.

I'm still here as well guys and gals.
Struggling with the new comp change, it's driving me mental.
Not at all happy with the other changes either, but I still dabble around a little. No way near as active as I normally am, but I refuse to give up on my NIB's.

It would be so nice if there was a separate colored star for NIB purebreds.

That said, I’m not NIB breeding in this account- and just starting up on my US one- so it wouldn’t help me much, I just think it would be cool. And save a LOT of time.
Poking my head in to say I'm still here. More out of defiance than a genuine will to play the game... The sly comp change means I haven't got a single win on a foundie, and it was tough before.

I'm pretty much just a massive hoarder now. And I was so close to having all my foundie Peruvian unicorns at 100 BLUP. Used to be able to get a win here and there on them. The Connies are something else entirely. I either have to become a 70 BLUP breeder, or I don't breed. (And if I see any sign of a certain rumoured BMI, I'm going to turn over a table.)

Truly sad to watch a game I loved go down the pan due to poor decisions but what can you do.

I'm still lurking around as well, just haven't done any actual breeding in gods know how long. Been trying to push out some BLUPped horses/unicorns....at least until they're 10 years of age and bolded out...I give up on seeing 100 BLUP on some of my stock.

I'm still helping Shisei (my team partner) try to get her original GP foundies win. I do usually get one a month! LOL But I agree, it was difficult before, now it's impossible! Which does make me sad because it's making NIBbers like me stop trying with the originals and scratching their whole herd.

@StormsRansome, honestly when the new breed comes out I would jump on it. These new breeds are SOOO much easier to BLUP than the originals! This helped me so much more get my "NIB" back! I might actually try again with whatever new breed comes out! It's making me work and match, etc default smiley :)

@tigrelily, the person who updated this doesn't update it ever really much anymore. None of the newer breeds are included. I think it's MAYBE updated once every three months? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

@wolfcat11, that would make sales SO MUCH easier but won't ever happen because of coding complications I'm sure would happen.

@Twinjodi If I remember correctly, Misabel's the person that checks pedigrees and lets the mods know to update the lists.

Also... y'all, I am totally up for filling comps. I've got around 150 fillers sitting around perfect for the 350 Foundations.

Holy cow, Storms Ransome don't go! I've been taking a break for awhile but I've made the mistake of leaving once and selling my stock. I won't ever do that again lol. I can tell the NIB board has certainly slowed down a bit though default smiley :(

Starting a Lusitano NIB project, have a male and female foundation horse, mare is currently pregnant with a 2nd gen. PM me if you're interested in talking about the breeding and helping each other out! Will also offer covers with my stallion.

Don't Go, Storms Ransome! I would miss you too!

I'm not fast with my NIB project but I can't let it go - it's still a way to play the game that's NOT controlled by Howrse. Sure they've made it harder and harder, but they'll have to wrangle my horses from me before I give up on my NIBs! And I would hate to be doing this all alone.default smiley :s

If the breeding that's done on the game were true to life, there would be all kinds of genetic abnormalities. I like to think we who do the NIB projects have the best horses out there! I am proud to be a Howrse NIBer! default smiley (l)
