The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

If they came from the same parents, their foal won't be considered NIB, because the grandparents would show up twice in the line.

Update: New Holsteiners are up to 4478 now o.0

Definitely already a bigger difference then in the Trotters, wonder if it will keep increasing by two every other day until the end of the competition. Hmm.

I'm a little confused. I had a 1st Generation (NIB) foal with higher gp/stars than both parents but when I bred her foal (who is a 2nd Generation [NIB]) it's gp/stars were in-between the parents. Is this normal?

If you take the average GP of both parents (Fionn at 3806 GP and Tairen at 4480 GP), the foal in my eyes has decent GP gain. Here's the math, which I used lllllloooooonnnnnnggggg ago and may no longer be the 'right' way to do it.

3806 GP + 4480 GP = 8286

8286 / 2 = 4143 which is the average of both parents GP

4221(foal GP) - 4143 = 78 GP point gain.

Again, old method I used, and I have no idea what a good gain is anymore. I just remember being happy with 5-15 GP gain default smiley xd

Anyone else feel free to step in and provide a much updated version!!!

So yeah, going off of what lbenedict15 said,

If you had used horses that were closer together in GP, there probably would have been a foal above their GP/stars, but because there is such a gap, that's why she too ended up in the middle.

So to break it down even further

Alyeska - 4473 > There is only a 135 GP between these two
Faolon - 4338
Range of GPs to expect at this time with the highest GP in Curlies would be:
Avg GP Gain: 90.60
GP Estimate: 4496.10
GP Range: 4482.51 - 4509.69

Tairen - 4480.67 GP (So not a huge GP increase, but because Dad has a high GP, way higher than mom. But at the lowest end) > There is an almost 700 GP between these two.
Fionn - 3806.67

Avg GP Gain: 93.22
GP Estimate: 4236.59
GP Range: 4222.61 - 4250.57

Filly - 4221.27

So she is at the very lowest end of the GP range you can get which unfortunately happens a lot just look at my French Trotter miss I'm Trotting on Air >.>

Your best bet is to breed horses with similar GPs, like shown above so the average is higher, and therefore, your GPs will be higher too. So if you took two 4480's together, the foal would be
GP Estimate: 4570.52
GP Range: 4557.04 - 4584.00

It seems almost every old breed, like quarter horses, appaloosas, curlies, etc have new foundations in the 3000-4500 range but I dont remember seeing them as a prize in any promos. So was wondering where they all came from.

Yes and no.... sorry I’ll behave default smiley (lol)

There is no new re-release of breeds that I know of.

The thing is when a new player joins they get a pair of rolling gain horses, from the breed they pick.

Other players get a RG foal every 34 days if they own a specific divine. (one of the prehistorics)
Another divine also offers a RG foal every x points or so. I’ve forgotten the name of both of those divine. (the last one is some blue colored thing)

So the thing is we’ll have a constant flow of RG’s as long as owners of those 2 divine log on, and of course also when new players join.

Forgot something we did a re-release of sorts in the last promo. It was possible to find RG Holstein there.
Who knows maybe we’ll see something similar again

Thank you lbenedict15 & Twinjodi for your help. I appreciated it. It makes better sense now. Those new GP's sure make it hard to progress. I unfortunately only have two that are in the 4000 GP range. Sadly, there are not any new ones that people are selling in that GP range right now. Oh well. C'est la via! That's life. default smiley ^)

Hipparion is one of those Divines. I love him, but was thoroughly disappointed when I got him to get 350 GP foundies and a few months after they changed to RG default smiley (m). There is one Divine that gives you foundation unicorns too. I think it is some of the new Pastry Divines that are giving out certain breeds if you own both and breed them.

Question for those with the pastry divines. If I were to say start a line from one of the pairs, would that be considered inbreeding? (So long as none of the previously bred non-divines show up once) I just finally got my first pair and I'm kinda tempted to make a line from them of semi-foundies.

Ràn is the other Divine that gives foundation horses. She's one of the newer Divines. It's also much easier to get new foundation horses from her. It takes me about a month. (420 points - 15pts per day)
