What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

I'm new to the whole NIB thing, but I have a "new" foundie PSH pair, first generation that I started the game with, does anyone have any advice on how to get started with them? I still need to BLUP them, but right now they're just sitting there making me feel bad. default smiley :)

Welcome Tarn!

Everyone's game is a little bit different in what they personally want to achieve etc. But with your foundation pair, you definitely want to get them fully blupped before going forward since they're a newer GP pair. There are a variety of training schedules, etc on how to do that but since your mare at least has speed and dressage done I would try her in gallop competitions mainly but could try for trot and jumping too.

For your stud, I would just try and put him into a variety and see what he does best in, it looks like he at least has some wins going though!

If you really want to expand your herd you can either do the hard thing and try and find another PSH pair to breed with to at least get to a second generation foal, OR you can try your luck with coverings to find a first gen to breed to the first generation foal of your choice. I would definitely try a few times after they're fully blupped in foal roulette to see which one is the best to keep and hope for a mare if you go the cover route!

I’m not sure I’m allowed to ask or not? Does perhaps a NiB discord server exist? It might be easier to hold BLUP parties and such with a chat room instead of just pms here. We could probably also have a channel for everyone to say who they are on Howrse and what they NiB breed for, for an easy search to find partners for swapping blood lines with outside your stables. I belong in one for a different game with group members breeding clean lines too. It helps us out a lot.

I got three male foundies! I’m considering grabbing this male hanovarian colt I see, but I’m not sure.

Ah, so you don't want any "new" foundies then? I have one "new" Lusitano foundie foal from the past promotion/competition thing, and I don't need it. So I was wondering if an NIB breeder on here specifically would want it or not before I put it out in direct sales or start skipping foal games and such. I hope this doesn't come across as an advert I just hoped I can help someone out if they need one since NIB horses aren't really easy to "search" for in sales. default smiley :)

I collect all foundations so any that need a home, let me know. As for not wanting the RG foundies, that's all up to preference. Most of us focus on the OG foundations but newer players probably focus on RG since they are much easier and cheaper to get. I pick up RG foundations all day long for around 4k each.

So I've been thinking.. just slightly thinking.. I have plenty to do with my Frenchies and Holsteiners.. but it's in the back of my mind.

If I were looking for the new foundations of each breed, would it be easiest to just look for horses by lowest skill and lowest age then look for zero, or is there an easier way.. and do all of the new foundations start in the 4000s?

I can't remember who was looking for Morgan OG Foundations. Anyway I just received 2 (from an early NIBer who is leaving Howrse and wanted her NIBs to go to NIBers so she sold them to me to pass them on.

Just look at my tab "Sales / Sales - OG Foundations, they are in there somewhere.

When I search for the foundies, I'll find out what the most recent gp is or take a wild guess and do less than, select purebred, and search, then sort by genetics descending, so highest to lowest. I'm not working with the rgs or searching for them often, so there might be other things you can do.

It would be nice if howrse would give us another way to select gps, so we could do a range of 2000-5000 for example.

Is someone still looking for Morgan OG Foundations? I have several in my Sales tabs under the particular foundation breed you are looking for. I buy all I can find for whatever cost to save them for NIBers. Just ask if you need any, they are cheap for NIBers only.
