I hear you! I've gotten a couple pieces in the mail that i was disappointed with...a crooked leg and/or won't stand. I love to hold and inspect it before i invest in it.

Sameee. i pretty much exclusively buy them from stores or places where i can see and hold the model before buying. i see a lot of bend legs in stores and my clydesdale mare managed to have a dent i sadly did not notice.
its as if someone started painting her or picked her up when the plastic wasn't fully hardened leading to a full thumb size dent in her stummach.

also the site i linked before is in german i can get by on the 2 years of german class i had eons ago but its a lil bit of a search for me to sometimes. for me it is the most complete site out there tough the person running it tends not to have a little trouble with keeping it 100% up to date on new models but that doesnt bother me cuz most of that info is on schleichs site anyway.

So my sisters want to play with our schleich models.... I agreed... does anyone have a game we could play with them??

Well like bananaboohoo said, you'll want to be careful...but i know some people actually make horse stories with them, even putting them on youtube. It might be fun, especially if you like photography, to make little "worlds" or setups for them, and then pose them for pictures. Maybe even in natural settings, like the pic of the Lightning Ridge Breyer horse i posted above. But i would avoid getting them too dirty, or playing rough enough to break or scratch or mess up the paint. On that note, also, some like to repaint them and make them customs. That's a fun "game" that won't rough them up.

Yay, i got some new oldies in today!

Click to display
I got two old goats from the early 90s...got the nanny goat, brand new, in her plastic, with tag!

Also got the billy goat, but not new. Slightly disappointed, as he wasn't wrapped much, and came with his little tail broken offdefault smiley :'( At least it wasn't lost and was in the package...gonna have to glue it on.

Now i just need the little goat kid!

Also got the old 1999 zebra and zebra colts! I actually only needed the colt, and was looking at one...then i caught a glimpse of the little set beneath it. For $2 more, i got TWO of the same colt, plus the mother! And i thought, what the heck, zebras live in herds, right? lol.

Next, i got the Musk Ox, available from 2004/2007...brand new with tag!

Quite the little menagerie, huh lol. To finish it off, i got a couple Breyer CollectA figures too...i got the little standing donkey foal. I already have the mother and grazing foal.

And last, but certainly NOT least... i got the Dutch Draft Mare Roan! I absolutely love her!

That's all for now!default smiley :)

I forgot to tell you guys...the other day when i got the CollectA foal and the LE traditional Breyer, i did actually find some Schleich! Next to the discounted Christmas left over toys, i found a bucket of Schleich that were also discounted. They were older, retired models! And get this...they were only 99 cents a piece! New even!

A couple were duplicates i later found out, which is ok, since they were so cheap! But here's the "new" old ones i got.

Click to display
I got the girl with rabbit, she says '11 on her stand, which i assume means she came out in 2012, and at some point retired.

I also got the 2010 Warthog Sow, which is perfect, since i had the 2010 Warthog Boar, so i needed her. Now i just need the baby one! Gonna hunt for that on Ebay in short order, cause its fun to complete the whole family!

Also got this pretty in the mail today (Breyer)!

[spoiler]Its from the Mystery Horse Surprise Stablemates series...the 70th anniversary ones! I just found out these even existed, as i never did see them in a brick and mortar store! I hope to get more of them in the future. Anyway, the one i got was the Woodgrain Clydesdale Stallion...i think he is pretty neat and unique! None of the pictures seemed to do him justice, but anyway, here he is:

Until next time!default smiley (h)[/spoiler:0]

Just for reference, that first one i listed above is going on Ebay for around $15 used, and like $30 new, plus shipping! So 99 cents brand new was a steal!default smiley (l)

I bought the Arab mare and foal and let the kid play with their stall and groom. He can play with his cheap horses when my older dog is inside. Good quality except for his helicopter. Liked the Lion that came with it. Like the quarter stallion from collect a

I think by helicopter and lion you are talking about one of the animal rescue stations, correct? I might have seen a picture of it but i'm not sure, as i don't usually get those sets, or even see them for sale! But yeah, i love CollectA too, especially their horses. I have a collection of them that are great, and that recent roan draft mare i shared that i got...she is just about the most gorgeous thing i've seen!default smiley (7)

Wow, i dont know where my brain is tonight! I just realized i forgot to share another one i got today (well, yesterday now).

I went into my local Orscheln's and picked up this big guy...

Click to display
Its the CollectA Texas Longhorn Bull! I got him because i really admire Longhorns in real life...they have such beautiful coats, and they have those big impressive horns! Also, and don't quote me on this because i could be wrong, but i think i might have heard that despite their intimidating appearance and size, they are actually quite docile? What's not to love?default smiley :)

We have a farm nearby that has some, so when we are having fun "putt-putting" around the back roads on our golf cart, we sometimes go by there in hopes of catching a glimpse of them! Its so cool when they are up near the fence. We even toyed with the idea of getting some (we currently just have some regular cows). Whether that ever comes about or not...who knows?default smiley ^)

Hello! Can you elaborate on that? Do you mean you have a huge Schleich collection, including more than just the horses? If so, I would love to know more! I collect many of them too. How long have you been collecting? I always saw myself as a newer collector, especially when compared to how long Schleich has been making animals (about as long or longer than I've been alive). But the other day I realized, I started collecting around 2012ish, which means this year of 2021 is my 9th year of collecting...so i dont think qualify as a new collector any more ha ha! Still a bit newer with CollectA and Breyer though...I think about two years.

Any Breyer collectors? What’s your favorite traditional Breyer you own? Mine is Reggie from BreyerFest.

I collect traditional breyers as well, my favorite in my collection is Bristol. From the premier club.
I collect all sizes of Breyers, but don't have a favorite. It would be so hard to try to choose!

I got a couple new Schleich characters today! One of them is pretty unique to my collection. The other well, it was neat...i was looking on Ebay at random Schleich, and i came across this one i didn't have yet. I looked at it, and saw the destination it would be shipped from if i bought it. Out of anywhere in the world it could come from, it was located 30 minutes away from me in the next town over. What are the odds of that happening?! Lol. So i messaged them, and today me and my friend took a fun little road trip and i picked up the Schleich, and didn't have to pay that annoying shipping lol. And I'm very happy with the little guy! He's retired and missing his tag but other than that he looks brand new!

Click to display
Its the 2004-? (not sure when he retired lol) Wild Boar! He's actually pretty cute, if you like pigs lol.

Here's the unusual addition...meaning i've no other Schleich quite like this (yet). But hey, it was a great deal for a retired but brand new in the box Schleich, so why not?

Click to display
Its the Schleich Ritter Blue Knight with Big Sword...which if the google source is right, was introduced in 2003 and retired in 2011.

Hi guys...i got a new (old) pretty little girl yesterday!

Click to display
Its the 2008 Lioness Lying Down! Perfect for my little Schleich Lion Pride!default smiley ^)

So guys, i'm curious...just because of the lack of response/enthusiasm i've noticed about my posts here. Am i the only regular here who collects Schleich other than the horses (yes, i do collect the horses too), like wildlife or farm life, people, sea life, pets? Or whatever else. Does anyone else get anything from my posts, or even read them? Its fine if its just my thing, and you aren't interested...i'm just genuinely curious if anyone is paying attention lol. I have like two people in real life, that i can share my Schleich collection with, so i come here to share with the only other people i know (at all) who are interested in Schleich. So i'm wondering if anyone is out there? I guess if no one replies i'll have my answer lol.default smiley xd

I've got my fair share of other animals besides horses but honestly I'm not too interested in them anymore and I also don't really collect original finish models anymore. Though I do always like to read yours posts about them, I just don't have much to add
Oh good, thanks for letting me know you guys are at least out there!default smiley xd Maybe if you don't have time to post, or anything in particular to post, you can just click the little "like" heart in the top right corner...that way i know my posts aren't just floating around in cyber space, never to be seen lol. i'm also glad to see others have the wildlife, etc. I wondered if maybe that was why no one seemed interested, since this is a horse game after all. @ Mystique, do you mean you buy models and repaint them, or you buy the customs already done from some other artist? Or am i misunderstanding?

When I first discovered Schleich I started out just collecting the horses, but because the wildlife shelf was right next to the horse one, being the all animals lover that I am, it wasnt long before I expanded my collection to include them all lol. Thanks for responding!

Nice! I've wondered who the best custom painters were and how to find them, to check them out. See if there are any I cant live without lol.

So i got a couple more old Schleichs...this time they are part of the Farm Life club!

Click to display
I got the 2004 Boar! I had the sow already.

I also got the little piglet, and it is so hard to find/see the date on him, so i'm not 100% the year, but i THINK it is the 2004 Piglet Eating. I am a little disappointed with him, as he seems to have yellowed worse with age, which wasn't too noticeable in his pictures, and he looks significantly older than his papa above. His papa is still nice and pink and new looking. But his belly says Schleich and the only one mentioned in my collector's book that resembles him is this guy, so that's what i'm going with:

These are not my pics, so you can't see it here. Also, for some, reason, a quick google image search for these two does not produce too many pictures of them specifically. Not sure why. I do have the newer pigs, and some piglets, so it is possible the little piglet is a duplicate...i'd have to take the time to pull them off the shelf and look to be sure. The piglet was actually sent to me free (well i had to pay shipping) because the male goat i posted before (from the same seller) came very poorly wrapped and arrived with his tail busted off. I had to glue it on. When i told the seller about it, she wanted to make it right...needless the say the piglet came very well wrapped lol.

Ok so i went ahead and did a quick peeky-peek on my shelves, and it turns out...

Click to display
The yellowed piglet above is NOT a duplicate but i have its little 2004 sibling model, with the only difference being that the piglets head is raised and it's not eating. That little piggy looks far better than the one i just got. Looks practically new...still has the tag even. I also have the 2015 piglet, and the two different years are definitely a different pink color! I guess i'll just have to pretend my new little off-colored eating piglet went for a romp in the mudhole or something before coming to dinner lol.default smiley xd

But if i find a great deal on another better looking one in the future, i might just have to take it lol.default smiley ^)
