Currently frustrated as i have an email from yesterday saying my new CollectA horse should be in my mailbox down the street. Stuck in the house though as we are in a snowstorm and its been bitter cold for like a week and a half, and we aren't out of it yet. Today's high was barely above 0F and tomorrow the high is like 1 or 2 F. I never even got out of my jammies today and don't want to go out and get the mail sigh. Tomorrow though at some point i will have to get out, so i guess it'll have to wait until then!default smiley :'(

I have a ridiculous amount of schliech rubber horses and donkeys. I used to make barns out of shoeboxes and a 3-D art pen (because my nice barn wasn't enough lol).

Same! It hasn't been anywhere near freezing or above for like two and a half weeks, so the snow we got back then is still on the ground, so we just added to it this time around. The snow is one thing (though thankfully no ice!), I could get through that to the mailbox with just a bit of effort, but it was just too darn cold. This morning when I looked at the weather it was below zero, with the real feel listed as -37 F. And my street has all the mailboxes together at the end of the block, so I wasnt about to trek all the way down there in that. Nor did I want to get out of my pjs and get dressed just to do so...I'm just too lazy and warm lol!default smiley xd

And I hear ya! I wish I had a Schleich store closer that I could just pop in any time and see if they have new Schleich yet. I am thankful to have other collections like CollectA to fill in the gaps in the meantime!default smiley :) you know, to scratch the itch...I've come to love those horses very much! Still hoping to catch the Marwari sometime.

Wow, a 3D art pen? Forgive my ignorance, is that like one of those little air painting wands or something? Sounds interesting and colorful!default smiley :)

I don't mind at all. It's a pen that melts coils of plastic and you can create whatever you want out of them. I also have made saddles and bridles. I have made gifts from it. It's really awesome!

I haven't purchased one in years! I've collected about 115 of them in three years and I have them displayed on my shelves. Does anyone else prefer the older models? I personally think they were more realistic default smiley (o)

definitly prefer the older ones around 2008 to 2014 the most i think the ones before are super realistic to but smaller details like fur can be a lil lacking. afer 2014 you slowly see the barbie ish stuff coming in and than from 2016 when they introduced the horse club branding thats when they were really nose diving

I wondered if the quality difference you guys speak of was directly related to the fact that Schleich was a family run company until 2006, when it was sold to i forget who, but i guess the dates don't quite match up.

intresting from 2006 the quality of the models were still improving

around 2016 they introduced horse club and than in 2018 ish really hit the fan with the weird designs the lessened quality in paint jobs and the semi failed release of th horseclub girl sets
to this day there are still 2 sets that never released

Just guessing but maybe they had a few years worth of stuff in the pipeline that they eventually rolled out, and then the new developments of stuff started. Just speculation.

What schliech should I buy?
Mare or stallion?
With or without a goal?
What breed?

I'm having trouble deciding.

I recently commissioned someone to make me a diorama for taking pictures, and it arrived a few days ago! I already took a bunch of pictures with it!

Also, my namopaimo horse is nearing completion!

I would just go with whichever ones look prettiest or nicest to you...you know, pleasing to your eye. Unfortunately, i don't think anyone here can make the decision for you! I think its hard cause there are so many to choose from, and more every year lol. Good luck!

Hey all...i have been at my moms house for more than a week helping her after she had surgery, so i'm just now getting around to sharing my new CollectA horse (the one where it was too freezing to get it from the mail right away lol)!

Its the Akhal Teke Mare (Buckskin), and i think she is gorgeous! She has the metallic sheen to her coat, which, in my understanding, is a characteristic of the breed's coat in real life (?), which is pretty cool.default smiley :) Here she is!

What is your oldest model? Mine is a 2003 black and white cob. I found her at a garage sale about 7 years ago. She has the rectangle on her belly too.

Hmmm, good question! I have no idea what my oldest horse model is, but my oldest wildlife model, i believe, is from the mid to late 80s. And that's awesome that you found her at a garage sale! I am always hopeful when i go, but i've only found Schleichs once at a garage sale, so far lol. Fingers crossed it happens again!default smiley ^)

My old model is from 1992 default smiley ;)default smiley ;)
Oh i forgot to tell you guys...this will only pertain to some of my fellow Americans. I just found out last night that just a few days ago, Tractor Supply bought Orscheln's Farm and Home!default smiley :o

Thankfully, i haven't heard that they plan on closing them down or anything. I hope it won't mean huge changes for my local Orscheln's. Time will tell!

my 2 oldest ones are both from 1992 a black arab mare and a lipi stallion.

i treated myself this week to a set of all the 2021 horses. most of them are cute and being a collector i was gonna get them all anyway so i got this set

i also bought this cute doggo mostly to avoid shipping costs but it also reminded me of my puppy

Wow, i can't wait to get them myself! Unfortunately, the first link says the page is unavailable, but the puppy dog sure is cute! Sorry about the posting issue, i hate that too! If i have any inkling that it won't post for some reason, i copy the text so i can quickly paste and post lol.

I went to a town about 45 minutes or so from me, and went to Tractor Supply. They didn't have the newer models yet, but they had a single item marked way down on the clearance isle, and i didn't want to leave empty handed, so i bought it! Its from the Howrse Club...says Howrse Club Sarah and Mystery. I couldn't figure out what the supposed Mystery was (it made me think of the mystery foals and mystery packs at first), so i came to the conclusion that it must be the horse's name or something. Please, correct me if i'm wrong lol.default smiley :)
