Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

Thank you Disco and Dandyman. I am working on skilling Destiny now. default smiley :d waiting to put a coat on her until the objective for the pinata pops up.

Just to let you know, last time I worked with Lippi I got above sales GP covers from the 2nd tier team, Rising Embers I think it is. Not sure if they still do that now (it was a few months back that I bred that cross) but it's worth asking.

Who fancies really making their brain work? default smiley (b)
I've set myself a little project of trying to breed a horse with fairly equal stars and GP.
I'm not all that far off with my latest foal, but now I've hit a bit of a rut with trying to increase trot and jump, whilst trying to decrease dressage and speed.
Can anyone think of anything that might make a good partner for her?

You'll likely never really decrease dressage too much as it's in practically every horse and pony. I want to say that Mustang is probably the only exception as they excel in barrel which doesn't require dressage.

Nice foal! I can't think of anything that wouldn't cause too much of a change, but maybe part Knabstrupper or Nokota to raise the trot and jump, with some curly x walker or Russian Don? You've gotten so close, it'll take some mixing to get a foal that mirrors her enough to even it any more.

I'm trying to get a Holsteiner rosette. Do you think I should try with this filly for gallop/show jumping or mix in other things for a better gp and higher speed/dressage/jump? Or should I aim for Reining comps, and work on gallop, dressage, and stamina?

Here is my Equal Skills Project horse, still in the process of being bolded.

I would add Brumby to my mix to even out the skills more, but they're so low GP I'm not sure I can be bothered.

Complete list of breeds that are in there somewhere: Standardbred, Trakehner, Lusitano, Appaloosa, Nokota, KWPN, Gypsy Vanner and Thoroughbred.

What do you guys think of this foal? I'm not knowledgeable about IBS, so I'd appreciate feedback on that. I'm hoping she'll make a good reigning and barrel comper. Think she may have a rosette chance?
By Retired breeder, 4th June 2016 04:14:28
Very nice and has a good skill set!

Just BLUPed a really nice KWPN. Probably will cross something with it... default smiley :p
By Retired breeder, 4th June 2016 05:59:41
Woo, got my two babies!

Speckle
Peaches 'n Cream

I'm going to BLUP them both, then breed them together. default smiley :-))
By Retired breeder, 4th June 2016 07:00:18
Peaches 'n Cream is BLUPed. I'll do Speckle tomorrow. default smiley ^)
Okay, my GV x Lippi cross might have to go on the back burner for now. I'm looking into doing a crossbred skiller now, something with high GP and skills. Is there any good ones people have been doing lately that have been doing well in competitions?

Wasn't too impressed with Speckle and Peaches 'n Cream's foal, so I decided to go with this instead:

Peppermint

default smiley :)

I'll see how she turns out. Might cross back to KWPN afterwards to bump up jumping. default smiley :p

So I recently bought and finished this horse. I plan to bolt and breed him but I am not entirely sure on whatto breed him with. I'm highly tempted to try raising trot. Anyone have any good tips?

TN Walker, maybe?

Okay, I need some advice guys. I bred this horse hoping he would be good at comps but he hasn't finished better than second. I've entered him in english and western comps and he seems to do poor at both. His skills are good for his age so far. If anyone could give me any advice on what comps i should be entering him in i'd really appreciate it. Also, maybe a recommended training schedule would really help out.

Here he is Bliksem
