Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

...I'm wanting a fairly equal mix of Knabby and Nokota. Does this mean if I used a pure Knabby sire and a pure Nokota dam to start off with, any subsequent descendants will be all 50% Knabby/50% Nokota (Knabby dominant)?

It depends on the breed order on the sire's genetics tab. USUALLY the second breed listed will be the mother (dam) of the sire. So if you do Knab stud to Noko dam, Noko SHOULD be listed second. If it's not, then tree a different Knab stallion. I have found switching studs will make the breed order "right" if it's "wrong" the first time.

If in doubt try a test foal. I tend to do this; get any old covering but from a horse with a similar genetic make-up to the one you have in question and see if it comes out with the dominance you're hoping for. It saves spending BMIs on a horse only to discover that it isn't quite what you expected! Even though I'm beginning to get the whole "which breed will be dominant?" game down to a tee its saved a few surprises! c:
So I bolted one of the Twins, I am quite happy with her. Just waiting on one more win to come though, and then it is back to training. default smiley :)

With the other twin don't do any mountain rides until after your wins, to keep trot lower. It's easier to find lower level WP comps for wins. It doesn't take so long for them to run.

Here's the schedule I would use on your boy.

No Foal games
Forest rides until 2 yrs old.
Train Stamina & Dressage to 500 skills
Rookie reining comps for skills (25)
Train Stamina, Dressage, and Gallop to 775 skills.
Rookie WP and/or Barrel comps for wins.
** Fill / bump all comps and wait for wins.
After 20 wins, finish training stamina, dressage, and gallop.
Finish Forest & mountain rides until bolded
Age to 10, training as you'd like.

Just out of curiosity, why no foal games?

Also, I did not do any Mountain rides yet on her. default smiley :)

I've decided I want to have a barrel racer. Does anyone have any ideas which breeds would work? I'm looking for a good comp winner, something that will win plenty. Doesn't need to be a rosette winner, just something that will win often and quick.

Maybe a Quarter Horse stallion with an Arabian or Gypsy Mare? It should still have high speed and gallop, but boost the Quarter Horse's stamina.

I saw that. You trained all of her trot. Not a good idea for easy wins. Avoiding foal games helps keep skills lower, so you can enter lower comps for easier wins.

I'm looking into those breeds. I honestly just want something that can win loads and quickly default smiley (lol)

If you're wanting high speed you won't get much with a Quarter horse x Gypsy cross. The QH is only around 1000 and Gypsies have terrible speed, so even with a top GP cover you'd only get around 800GP max

I see. I always try to get the max out of foal games, to get the max skills out of all my horses. default smiley :)

As for the the trot training, I comped in Barrel Racing and and Trails since you can bold all skills with just those two comps. So I trained in all skills to 500 excerpt Dressage and Speed, and entered comps until there was no gain. Now I just wait for the wins to come in. I then trained all skills to the rookie max, so if I still need to get a few more wins, I am maxed, making it harder for other horses to beat her. But she sill has a bunch of pending comps, and only one win needed. This technique has worked great for all my TB/Arab crosses.

GV X Marwari are a good way to go - high stamina and gallop, mid speed, you'll crush in less difficult comps.

If you want a low comp runner I would recommend Lippi x GV, keeping speed untrained and beached down.

If you want a higher skills horse I'd go with TB x Wari or TB x PSH.

I am looking for a xbreed cover with high gp, 100 BULP and is a speed cross. Please Pm or leave a message here. Thank you
I tried a QH x mustang it does pretty well I'm debating on finishing him
the top two skills are speed and gallop his skill set mirrors a mustang (speed, gallop and stam)

Thankyou Stellanie and equestrienne1979 default smiley :)
Equest and Serp - I'm looking into those breeds now. I just need to work out expenses etc, and work out what I can afford, and then work out which would be better default smiley (lol)

Okay, I've done some searching and worked out expenses etc. My top choices for my new barrel racer are:

- GV x Marwari
- Lippi x GV
- TB x Marwari
- TB x PSH

I've looked at the best horses in the sales along with the price, as well as checked my inventory. I've figured out I can kill ten pass horses, buy a Pegasus account for access to the cloud, and then buy two foals for 1 pass each. This will leave 5 passes for the cloud pack.

I'll then need to blup the two foals. I can either use the two Arms I have in stock, or I can use my AP's and trade the Arms for a Nyx Pack, which I am considering doing because I don't have any other items that can be traded for a Nyx Pack.

I'll then have two trades left over, which I can use to trade for A.Tears and a Poseidon Pack. I have a bolt and a wand in stock already, plus customisation items and an A. Heel.

So, now all I have to do now is pick which breeds I want default smiley (lol) easier said than done.

I also need to decide if I want a high-skilled comper or a target trained comp horse with beached skills.

Check public covers before you buy the stud you want to blup. You may find a 100 BLUP cover at or very close to sales.

He is very nice, though I would not know what comps you would place him in. I mostly work with Arabian, TBs, Gypsys

Almost finished! This is my twin I bolted the other day. I ran out of AP though. All she has left is a tiny bit of Jumping and rides.
