Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

I could use some help please! Jethro is a Lusitano/Gypsy Vanner and i'm having trouble in getting wins for him.. Anybody have any ideas? I'm fine with either Western or Classical or both for him.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Try western competitions with speed as a primary skill and speed, dressage, or another higher skill of his as secondary.. Either that or XC, but he might be better in western.

He might do well in trail class too.

That would depend on what you're trying for. Skills, comps, etc.

Gypsy x Arab crosses are great for cross country rosettes/wins overall

Gypsy x TB crosses are great in western comps, specifically reining/cutting from my experience.

However, it really just depends on what you're striving for i.e. high skills, particular skill set for a certain competition type.

Great thing about crossbreeding is that there are endless possibilities.

Are you shooting for a specific discipline, comp, skill set, etc.?
I'll take a look and do some calculations, but if I don't come up with anything you'd like to try, tell me. default smiley ;)

I was looking at skill sets for Holsteiner and thought maybe a TB would work well for low level trot.
It depends on if you would like to create, say, a trail competition horse. For that, I might try a KWPN or a Selle, but that's just me.
I like to breed crosses with a particular competition in mind, but every breeder does it differently.
If you would like further help, shoot me a PM!

Bred this little one yesterday. Going to BLUP her and use as a base breeder for 4-way Dressage and Trail horses.

@Gatlin
Nice!
Does anyone have any successful Nokota dominant crosses? Not looking for anything in particular, just want to try one.
By Retired breeder, 26th August 2017 18:10:52

I just bred a TB/Holsteiner cross that's Holsteiner dominant. Here's the link:

Noko/Criollo. I'll see if I can find the link to one I breed awhile back.
