It's about time the NIB breeders had their own corner of the world default smiley ;)

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

So do NIB breeders actually use the new foundies with higher GP, or do they stick with the old 350 GP foundies?

I haven't bred to 6 gens myself, but 600 range sounds about right.




Some of us use only 350 gp, some only rolling gain gp, and there are a few that use both, but keep them as separate projects.

The last 6th gen TB I bred had a GP over 700...and that was last December, so it's bound to be further along now. That will vary by breed, though.

People have done it before! It's your project; You may do whatever you like. default smiley :)

However, there is not a ranking for crossbreds - there are simply too many possible combinations to keep track of, and a general cross ranking would let players leap ahead by tapping into breeds whose GP is further along. That said, the rankings are pretty meaningless at this point (in my opinion, anyway), so don't let that stop you if you want to crossbreed.

@Misabel I totally agree with you. Rankings do not matter any more. The GP race is crazy.
Guess only the most crazy of us are left NIB'ing now.

@Kuja we're a dying breed all together I'm afraid.
Some of us work with both the old GP and the new RG's. Some prefer to keep them separate, and others mix the old GP and the RG.

Sorry to read your leaving.
Bless you for thinking about us NIB'ers before you decided to stop playing. The old GP horses are getting more and more difficult to find. Especially certain breeds.



Has anyone thought about picking up the French trotters?
I'm kinda tempted, but it's not like I do not have enough to do already default smiley ^)

@Asfridur I am toying with the idea of a SMALL herd. So far, I am up to 8 from cooking, with two cooking. 7 females, 1 male. Not the best male to female ratio default smiley xd I may buy a few just to even it out (or snag a few bolts haha), but was hoping to use horses that I brewed up myself.

I'm a NIB breeder mostly 350 BLUP. TB, QH, Arabian, Apps mostly but have a few other breeds also. I offer coverings also. Not all my horses are 100% BLUP.

Yes, my small herd that is disturbingly unbalanced default smiley xd The final tally for the horses I cooked up is 6 males to 15 females. Thanks to some amazing people though, the numbers will even out shortly.

@Phantom413- since they are rolling gain GP, they will be a lot easier. I've only toyed a little with RG, but I pick a competition that I think my horse will do well in, then train the bottom two skills (so, for pleasure, I would train dressage and stamina), then comp and train the final skill at the same time (trot to go with the above example). That seemed to work with my RG Holsties, but then again, that was a long time ago that I did them. Good luck! And this is a great, supportive group, so don't hesitate to ask for help!

I *think* I might start with the french trotters - I managed to get 2 females and 5 males, I guess I should get out a notebook and work out how to do this in the most efficient way right? I love new notebooks!!

I'm sure I tried NIB way back when I had my old account... shetlands I think, but I never had the patience :P hopefully this time around it will be a project I can keep interested in!

I'm considering selling off some of my foundation horses. Haven't decided which breeds yet.

I'm also working on the new Frenchies. I have 24. One stallion is blupped and I'm working on a mare. My cousin has about 5 and is willing to work with me, on them.


btw I have a question. I just had a Paint foundy mare foal (bred to a foundy stallion). Her foals have GP in the 460's. Is this a new thing? I looked at other foals and their increases aren't that dramatic. default smiley (8)
