It's about time the NIB breeders had their own corner of the world default smiley ;)

Curious about NIB horses? Want to know what a NIB horse is? You've come to the right place!

What is this topic for? NIB enthusiasts to find each other and help one another progress in their respective games.
Otherwise, you may use this topic to help others learn about NIBs, share your experience, and find friends that breed NIBs default smiley :)

The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

It's the star you get when you have all five legendary horses.

I forget exactly who gets it when you've got all of them, but that's where it came from.
Oooh, fancy. Thanks for the info, Poindextra.

Reading back, I saw the nib list, I also breed vanner and marwari unis. I think a marwari uni is my current best to beat. I work 60 to 70 hr weeks, been quite busy with roommates moving out, helping them move, friends getting new houses, and my garden so i am still around just quite busy =(
@Axel'sMommy indeed they are. Way too expensive for me that's for sure.

8000 for a foundie is crazy cheap O_O

I have by some miracle managed to get all wins on a first gen Shagya before he was 10 y old.
Of course I could not do the same for his wanna be mate. 10y old + and 6 wins ... rats.

Checking sales, I just had to grab a Shagya foundie that was treated as a pass horse. He had 56 skills and was 30 years old. No way I could just let him die, so I bought him and gave him a stone I had in my inventory. I have named him Elderscroll ^
I've upped his skills to 121 now. There is no way I will be able to even get a single win of course. But I'm determined to bold all his skills.
Nope I'm not addicted to Shagya not one bit default smiley :p

Now I have to see if I can find him a mate, because I now have an uneven number of Shagya.
There are only 2 up in sales, and they are both cost 4 passes. Really don't know if I'll buy one of them. It's expensive, but at least it beats paying 20 for a uni don default smiley :s

@Comatose - got it. I've modified the list.
60-70 hours per week is insane. How do you cope with working that many hours?

How do I find the "black market" of NIBs? I'm looking for some foundation unicorns too. Unfortunately Howrse hasn't developed a search feature for these yet. Is there another thread specifically for buying/selling?

When I look for original foundies, I search for GP less than 351 GP. Foundation unicorns are incredibly difficult to find. I found one that I need for 10 passes, but I am 8 short lol. There isn't really a black market for them.

I wish there was a buy/sell thread. Unfortunately, they won't give us one.

Errr, I shouldn't say they are difficult to find. Moreso, that when you do, they are very expensive.

Wow must be quite stressful. How do you find time to relax a little?

....someone stop me please. I just bought more drum foundation horses. The NIB project was only supposed to be smaller scale. And now I see I have hoarded 230 rolling gain foundies default smiley xd

So I guess I'm going to go all out on those. Wonder just how many I can afford to grab default smiley ^)
EC production time and selling those items me thinks

@Axel'sMommy

I'm grateful to have a pair of foundation Friesian Uni's. I'm trying to sell my Trakehner Foundie for 500e and 1 pass. Is that too high? I haven't had any bites yet. (I'm not trying to advertise. I am just trying to figure out the system.)

Looking at the sales for 350 and 351 foundies, that seems to be a good price. The others are either 500 and 2> passes or 550,000 equus.

One of us make a buy/sell thread in our forum, right?

Does anyone know if the Gaia Foal horses come with Philosopher's Stones now since they changed the foundation system?
By Retired breeder, 18th May 2017 23:03:31
Oh man, let me check on that, my EC has a forum that I might be able to work with for a search thread. default smiley (m)

Update: Forum rules are universal, by the looks of things. No advertising allowed. default smiley :(

Which I find a bit odd, because there are quite a few horse sales forum topics around in player's forums... Seems like this rule isn't enforced very strongly. I'm not trying to pick a fight with Howrse or anything, it just would be nice to understand why we can't have one. Y'all understand, right?

Especially since we can't find what we're looking for easily in the sales. I'm really feeling like Howrse doesn't like NIB breeders....default smiley :'(

Sooooo I'm new to this forum. (Some of you have received friend requests lol) I lost my account for five years and finally found it again. Whoop! Now I'm back to continue my NIB/Foundation breeding. Am I the only one struggling to get any bites on sales? Maybe I'm just impatient....but I need passes and equus to continue my addiction! default smiley :p I'm dabbling in Irish Hunters, Marwaris, Arabs, PSHs and Friesians (of which I am very lucky to have a male and female foundation uni). I'd love to get involved in some breeding programs and "thicken the herd" *chuckle* Years ago when I was doing this, AdmYrrek was one of my most prominent breeding partners. I'm sad that he isn't doing NIBs anymore default smiley :'( So what's been happening in the last 5 years??? I can't believe Howrse nuked all of our hard work with their "rolling gp" foundations. But still, I can't imagine doing anything else. It's just more work to separate the old NIBs from the new. Or I might just say bugger all and mix. Any opinions on this topic??
Welcome on board dark_angel2788 - or should I say welcome back? default smiley :)
Awesome to see a "new" NIB'er, and thanks for the friend request.
I've added your preferred horses to our list.

I believe they do. And the new players get a pair of twins. I guess you could kinda call them inbred, But since they both have Ouranos and Gaya as parents their not default smiley (lol)

Ummm a player posted some pages back - a new NIB'er. Asking a question if they could be used in a NIB project and not be considered inbred. let me see if I can find it and the horses, then we can see if they have stones.

Afraid your right - we've always been the odd bunch in this game. The change of the rookie comps and introduction on the rolling gain foundies hit us hard.
Many either stopped NIB'ing after than change.

If your looking for old GP foundies their becoming increasingly difficult and expensive to find.
I usually set up the search like so:
GP <352
purebred
passes <1

OMG someone is selling a Shagya gotta buy.... default smiley :odefault smiley (7)
It's a foal 1 y 4m old and no foal games default smiley :'( but I gotta buy it.... and I'kll have uneven numbers again default smiley (lol)

As to the last 5 years - many of my long time friends have left or gone on hiatus due to some of the changes made. Sad but it's a fact. Really miss them.
A lot of changes has happened while you've been MIA. Not even sure I can remember them all. But lets see give me a few

All righty here we go.
After finishing the tutorial a new player gets a pair of twins, It's an objective to cover Gaya to Ouranos and your given a wand.... (Sorry - the heavy meds really mess up my ability to think and remember stuff.... scary cra$)

Any ways - they get a pair of twins. Those horses both have stones.
Like the pair darkhorsefarm asked about a few pages back
number 1 and number 2

That fact can help you a little when searching for rolling gain foundation horses.

Check the page of the breed you want. Let's assume your looking for PSH's. You go to the breeds public page

Grab a calculator and start adding the numbers 484.22 + 732.41 etc. That gives you a total of 2958. Meaning the highest born rolling gain PSH has a GP of 2958.

When you go to sales you then set the following filters
stone
purebred
GP <2959
and maybe an age filter if you want foals
<1 year old
<1 pass

Hope this helps - you still have to check every horse though. To make sure it is a foundation before you buy it.

Right on to a making a "little list" of the changes
