It's about time the NIB breeders had their own corner of the world default smiley ;)

Curious about NIB horses? Want to know what a NIB horse is? You've come to the right place!

What is this topic for? NIB enthusiasts to find each other and help one another progress in their respective games.

The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

I would call that a second-generation. Others may have a different opinion, and since NIB is not an official game function with hard and fast rules, none of us would be wrong. default smiley (y)

Long time player (returning) first time poster

I am glad to find out that there are still some people out there who are actually doing things the way they should and not taking the shortcut way. I'll be straightforward. I'm looking for a good Connemara Stud to breed with my very first horse. I am practically starting over and selling all the horses which I have come to realize have inbreeding within their genetic line.

I will be willing to pay 10k for a purebred NIB Connemara covering.

I hope this doesn't violate the rules. It says "Do not advertise sales or coverings" which I am not doing, simply asking for help rebuilding. If this is a problem, I will edit my post.

Sincerely
Sylevar Falcori

So if I bred my two Shagya Arabians, Poseidon and Princess (Ouranos and Gaia are the dam and sire for both, I know that these two are exceptions). Would that allow for the start of a NIB stud/bloodline?

@Sylevar Falcori a NIB'er would usually give you a cover as cheap as possible.
We're all friends here.

I'm afraid I do not have a blupped stud or I would offer you a cover.
Hope you manage to find one.

Any good tips on getting started?
And is there a breed that's cheaper than others? (Not Drums)

I get a few Drums, but I wanna try another breed too. And you can't get enough tips :P

I raise breeds I like, not breeds that have a specific price range default smiley :p So I couldn't answer that.

In other news, finished wins on 2 Orig. Foundies, so in a few weeks I'll have 2 more finished pairs to adopt out. Wow they're really piling up. They're Icelandic and KWPN. Once they're done, I'll be working on 2 Lippi mares.

Does anyone have a NIB foal? Don't really care about the breed or GP.

Is this allowed...?

Unfortunately this isn't allowed. It is advertising, which is forbidden in all forums. default smiley (h)

Standardbreds sell for 40,000e or less.
Who breeds Drums in here?

Northener, abbitude and myself. Not sure if there are more.

As to tips. Let's see.
- You need more patience than a saint, because everything moves so slowly. (You might want to have another non NIB project going, to prevent you from loosing it default smiley (lol))

- Pick a breed you like to work.

- Decide if you want to use old 350 GP horses or the new rolling gains. Check sales to see if here are enough for sale to have a small or larger scale project. (Obviously the new rolling gain horses are easier to find).

- Set a goal. How many generations do you want to breed.

- Don't get frustrated when you struggle with wins.

- Get some fillers, they help a little. Even though it's getting increasingly difficult to NIB from the old 350 GP stock.

- Be prepared to spend a lot of Ecuus on your small or large army of foundation horses.

- Use your EC to fond your project. You can earn a nice stash from selling your crafted and growth items there.

- And above all - have FUN with your project.

This thread sure has been quiet as of late. Hope your all still trotting along.
Have recently bred a 3rd gen NIB Don uni.

But not sure if I should enter his stats come Sunday. I've entered Drums twice, but the main thread does not get updated. I've seen others post as well.

Has the main thread been abandoned entirely?

I'm quiet since I don't NIB lol just rescue orig. foundies, blup/bold em, and adopt out to NIBers but I've got like 4 finished pairs just collecting dust so maybe NIBing is dying out. I'm always free to fill (except today), and have plenty of fillers. I'm somewhat caught up on my blupping other than sale horses and team horses, so I have no problem being helpful.

A tip I would like to suggest:

If you're doing a NIB project with the 350 GP foundies, always check in the sales for 1st or 2nd generations. You'll have to check each horse, but it can be worth it.

It should be updated; I sent the last GP you posted to the mod who updates the list for me. Don't forget that rolling gains have their own ranking now, down at the bottom....but there's still an old Drum Horse GP in the original listing, maybe that's what is causing it to look out-of-date.

As I've said, I'm not sure how useful the ranking is any more, especially for those working new foundies - with how fast the game is pushing GP along, every new Gen-1 foal will be a new top GP. But that just my opinion, and I will gladly keep checking pedigrees and submitting GPs for anyone who wants to post them.

Me, I've gone too far to turn back now, even if my GPs are all over the place. Can't bail on the project after BLUPing a few hundred foundies.

That can indeed be a useful shortcut, but there is a caveat - if that horse's ancestors belong to someone who decides to delete their account, they will disappear. That leaves a hole in your horse's pedigree, and you won't be able to prove the horse is indeed NIB.

Now, if you're just NIBing for your own pleasure, and don't mind that, then go for it - you can manage your program any way you wish, and no one should judge you either way. But horses with disappeared ancestors are ineligible for the rankings, so if that is important to you, proceed with caution.

I was thinking of starting NIB breeding sometime soon if I have the time and I was wondering whether it is unsafe to take coverings from NIB stallions belonging to other players. If the player deletes their account or something like that, wouldn't that mean that my NIB foal cannot be proved to be NIB? I wanted to try it just for fun and not exactly to prove it to someone but I am a harsh critic of myself and won't be able to have fun unless I prove to myself that my foal is NIB. default smiley (lol)
So, is it best to buy a lot of foundies and start breeding? But then again, isn't it difficult to find foundies?
