It's about time the NIB breeders had their own corner of the world default smiley ;)

The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

When I started NIBing Standardbreds last year I was able to hoard them. There were plenty in the sales all the time and I thought the flow would be steady (because you can select them when starting a new game). Now, however, there are only a few available in the sales (direct and auctions).

I haven't been able to figure out why, does anyone know?
By Retired breeder, 6th March 2017 10:53:30
* I should clarify that I'm talking about the rolling gain foundations, not the original (default smiley (l)) ones.

You know I'd really like to know this too. I'm wanting to take on a Rolling Gp Appy project. So when you find the answer, let me know! default smiley (lol)

You're looking for the newer rolling gain foundies, correct? I see them quite often in the sales, it's just trickier to filtering them out and you have to check the parentage for each one to be sure. There also probably aren't as many because players can't sell one of the horses that they put the GA from the tutorial on. They can only sell one of their foundations unless they override the GA coat with another coat item.

To filter out newer foundies: select "immortals", "purebred" and less than 3500 GP. You can probably set it to 0 skills as well as I find that most new players tend to sell the horse right away with training it.

I think the new tutorial is part of it (not being able to sell the GA-horse), but not all. In November and December last year, there were pages and pages (well 1-4 pages) in the auctions and maybe the same in direct sales. It would be odd if people just suddenly chose not to pick Standardbreds as their first horse, so I don't think that's the reason either.

I'll give your search method a shot, it's a bit different from mine. Thank you so much, Legacy Ann default smiley (y)

Storms Ransome: Didn't see your reply there. I know, right? It's so odd. How long have you been searching for Appys?
I think perhaps it's because some breeds aren't available. The new players cannot choose the breeds.
Like Dons just to mention one. I keep on searching and get nothing.

Fry, Paints, Stang and more are up in either sales or regular sales often.
Several other breeds are rare like Fjords, Lusi, Teke and other breeds.

Just recently. Appies have always been kind of my thing so with the separation of the two ranks, I'd like to take on those Appies as well. I'd like to add Criollos and Black and Silver QHs in the future. But we'll see. I need to shake up my game a little.

Maybe that explains the lack of Appies.

Oh, I didn't realize you meant Standardbreds specifically *facepalm.* Less Standardbreds I could understand if that has been rotated out as a starter horse or less people are picking it.

I search for horses with the following:
<2 years old
has stone
<1 pass
> over 1700 in GP
purebred

But some breeds are so hard to find, others simply impossible.
Shame I would have loved a pair of Dons.

I will try to raise the GP to see if I find more breeds

Check Ride The Wind. Sometimes she has Foundations she's selling and you might be able to find some Russian Dons in her sales.

omg going through my unicorns and just realised I have a foundie unicorn mare with a pet lamb default smiley :o
So, I figured I would share my current projects with y'all because I am super excited. I've been a lazy NIBer and would just breed my foundries and never really worked on getting more generations. These are two of my 2G horses and once they are finished I will get my first ever 3G! Granted, of course I have no MA's so it'll take awhile to get them finished.

So it looks like my rolling GP NIB project is starting to take form. I'm struggling to find Appies, at the moment, but I have managed to pick up a few black QHs and Criollos. It looks like one of these two projects will be my project for now along with my normal NIB Appy project that has been going on for years!

@Axel'sMommy oh my those are nice. And you made them all gorgeous looking as well default smiley (l)
Crossing fingers for you.

Indeed Storms Ransome their getting harder and harder to find.
I managed to snatch up 5 Shagya foundies yesterday. I was ecstatic! Been a long long time since I saw that many.

Did a head count. I need 21 more foundies to eventually make a base of 200 first gens. With the way prices have been going up and up, I'm beginning to doubt it will happen. But I will keep on trying to see if I can find more.

Working on blupping my 41st pair of first gens. Constantly second-guessing myself if I should start blupping some second gens or not.

*sigh*
This is another fourth gen. Beats the one I bred six weeks ago by 23 points, even though the parents' GPs were less than a point higher.

I'll keep posting my GPs for now, so anyone else working the breed can see where they're at. But for me, the ranking has lost its purpose - GP simply moves too fast, and having the top GP no longer feels like an accomplishment.

So, here is something I found interesting with the foal I just posted. I now have two foals out of the same parents. The first foal, I bred when the parents had 52 and 75 BLUP. Then I bred them again when they had 75 and 97 GP and what difference did I get?

0.2...... There was a 0.2 difference in the GP of the foals default smiley (o)

Nope those are my beloved Shagya - based on the old 351.2 and 350GP stock.
Like a fool I'm determined to breed all the foundies first. Then BLUP and breed them before I move on to blupping the second gens.

The rolling gain is once again frustrating the heck out of me. The drum horse foal I posted earlier today has higher GP than my second gen blupped stud.

@Misabel sadly have to agree - it does not matter any more.

@Axel's Mommy -odd you did not get a higher GP foal.

What I've discovered, is that lessons seem to matter a great deal, and that you go over 74+%
Wins don't seem to matter much any more, how ever IBS is usually lower on the foals. But there seems to be an odd random factor to it all. Just look at my latest 3 foals. Check both IBS and GP.

Atallah - 407,40 bred from 74% blups

Nur - 416.94 from 77% blups

Amran - 425 bred from 100% blups
