It's about time the NIB breeders had their own corner of the world default smiley ;)

Curious about NIB horses? Want to know what a NIB horse is? You've come to the right place!

What is this topic for? NIB enthusiasts to find each other and help one another progress in their respective games.

The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

The thread is alive - happy days default smiley (7)

@keepsake you lovely lady if you have any Canadians or Shagya I'd adopt them in a heartbeat.
I've had to put the Canadians on hiatus while I try to progress with my Shagya, Drums and Uni Dons. But I will pick them up again.

Once I've bred a filly uni for my 3rd gen colt, and have a 4th gen I'm out of foundie stock. So will have room for another project.

@Misabel thank you. I was sure it wasn't updated.
Can I pull the old age card? default smiley :o

I Think I was the one who posted the
Drum horse: 1911.21 (134*)
entry, and he's based on 1831 foundie stock. But maybe it was another player?
No matter moving along ^

Your right of course as to keeping the main thread updated. But I'd be sad to see it go idle as long as a few still keep on NIB'ing despite the crazy GP race.
I can understand if it does, but it would be a real shame.

I'm in for the long haul as well. I've invested way too much time on the Shagya to just quit.
Despite I really want to know just how crazy the final foal will be.

@Pearl Onyx - Yes it would.
To play it safe I'd use my own stock only. It' a real shame if you several generations down the line no longer can trace the ancestors.
I've had it happen on a few projects and it ruined it all for me. But it depends how you feel really. Some take all this NIB'ing business way too serious *points at self* default smiley (lol)

It still gives me chills that all my Shagya do not have a stone. An impossible goal of course but I'd be devastated if one of them died. Pixels or not, every single one is important to me.

Opps I hit Post to fast. Sorry.
As to buying foundies - it depends really. Many of the 350 + 351.2 GP foundies have become really hard to find. Some even impossible, or when they are available, their very expensive indeed.

The rolling gain foundies are cheaper. But NIB'ing is definitely NOT cheap.

I forgot another thing in regards of NIB'ing.
Make a spreadsheet. List the mares, stallions and the offspring.
I use write down their names, their unique ID number and what generation they are.
Once I've bred them I color coat their ID's so I don't use them again later.

So I list them like:
Al-Ashab 0 (22085974) x Amurra 0 (22086092) = Aмєєя ✗¹ (46102243)

I'd post a screenshot but it will be too big default smiley (lol)
But if anyone would like to see some screenshots. Let me know and I'll try downsize a few.

I'm still NIBing my Holsti's when time allows. We just got internet at our house, so there will be more progress I am hoping! Also going to dabble more in the unicorns. I have a few Canadian's and Holsti's that I need to BLUP, then will be trying my patience on that.

I agree with keeping the herd within your own control. I have seen too many people lose several generations. Just not worth it! If you need help finding good stock, feel free to ask! This is a very great group to work with.

Great to see your still here as well lbenedict15!

Has anyone here any experience with trakes?
Sorting some foundie unis I can see I have enough for a small scale NIB project. But the trakes have oddish skills, so I'm a bit in doubt as to what comps to use once I get there.

Thank you @Asfridur and @lbenedict15
I will ask for any help if needed!default smiley ^)

I just bought a Shetland foundie from the sales for 30,000 Equus, which is quite reasonable for me since I will be going about it slowly. But something tells me that NIB breeding is much more expensive than thatdefault smiley (8)
Anyway, I will be busy blupping my two foundies now. The one I got when I started my game is stuck at around 90 BLUP.default smiley (d)

That is incredibly true. It adds a bit more work, but I take screenshots of each horse if I don't own the parents.

@Misabel

I agree, it does add problems. A lot of horses my wife had that she knew were NIB couldn't be proven because of the disappearance of one of the family members. Like Eriathwen, I too am taking screenshots (printing the page to pdf actually) of the family tree of the horse. That way, no matter what, I will always have proof. Might be something to look into. Most computers now allow for the pdf printing. Just hit CTRL+P and select Adobe PDF as the printer.

Then all you need to do is save the file and that will make a screenshot for you that can't be easily forged.

Anyone NIB paints here? I looked around my breeding farm and saw I had enough foundries to get to gen 3-4. I was wondering if anyone had any advice?
I thankfully stocked up on the old Curly foundies a while back so they will keep me busy for a while. default smiley ^) My biggest hurdle though is getting the 20 wins.

That's awesome kooldogz7 - one can never have too many old GP foundies default smiley (l)

Yes indeed the 20 wins is very hard.
I've had to only go for 70 on some of the ones I have. Have several very broken foundies - as in 0 skills when bought at 29 y old etc.
But I still bought them because I want as many Shagya as I can get.
Besides it looks like 100 does not make a whole lot of difference any more. It has impact on the IBS obviously, but not the GP.

Does it not annoy me that several do not have 20 wins win I breed them? Oh yes it does. very much so, but I've had to settle for bolding their top 3 skills. Some I've chosen to bold all skills, even though the horse ended up with 0 wins!

Regarding the ID, if you look at the top of your browser, you will see an url like
https://www.howrse.com/elevage/fiche/?id=Some numbers here

Those numbers are unique for every critters bred here
Example this little fellar

has the url
https://www.howrse.com/elevage/fiche/?id=52065693

where 52065693 is his unique ID

Hey guys! I know that NIB Breeders work together quite a bit, and I was wondering if anyone wanted me to make a team for them to work together easier. I don't do NIB Breeding, but I could just do stuff like getting VIP Fillers and someone else can be in charge. PM me if that sounds like a good idea! And I am not sure if this is not allowed in this topic, but...default smiley :p

I have no problem helping get 20 wins. With the way I blup now, I get all 20 in 4 days (to conserve APs), so just ask me any time and I'll be willing to do sodefault smiley :)

Depends on who you get the covering from. There are a few people in here that I would trust, but I'm not sure I would trust someone that I don't "know" is active in the NIB community.

For example, I have had a few people request coverings from me. My lines will be secure as I won't be deleting my account. They will have to shut down the game first lol.

@MollyAnne I'm sorry I don't know. Anyone here know if we still have a paint NIB'er?

Later today if I have time I'll try and go back loads of pages and see if some form of list can be made.

Thank you very much keepsake, kooldogz7.

And also to Willow Tree for your very kind offer.

@kooldogz7 the key to getting the wins is lower skilled fillers.
The issue at hand is that you can only enter 2 of your own horses in the same competition - so you enter your blup and a filler horse that has skills and tack that are way under that of your blup.

That is often not enough. Leaving you with 4 other options.
1 - Accept you may not be able to get all wins. Go for bolding the top 3 skills. Any win being a blessing.

2 - if you have co access to a friends account, you can use 2 of their low low fillers, if they agree you can use them.
You then enter 2 of their fillers in the comps of your blup = you now have 4 entries in the same comp. The chance of your blup winning it is now WAY higher, compared to you only entering 1 horse. Unless one of the fillers has higher skills than your blup.... then ooops no win default smiley (lol)

3 - Ask the NIB'ers for help with filling comps.
Highly effective as well. But requires a lot more coordination because we need to be online at the same time as you to help + have fillers that are lower than your blup.

4 - throw all available shiny BM items on every blup you have (Nyx, WOY, GA, Helios, studs etc etc).
Board the horse in an EC that has high end lessons, employees bonus + expert diploma.
With that approach the horse will get wins. It will still take time, because top GP is so much higher and forever climbing. But all the bonus fluff will make it way easier to get there. No fillers needed.

Sorry for the long reply.

So how would one go about making NIB Fillers? I've thought about doing that with some of my extra NIBs, but I'm not totally sure how the comps work. XD
