The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

Times like these I love the auto-buy function for VIPs.

Every so often I find a foundie just plunked into my farm default smiley (y) It's fantastic.
Never heard of NIB. Sounds cooldefault smiley :d Are the gp so low because by covering another horse, the parents would have to be traced right back? So foundries have to be used? How does it progress then, do you have to have millions of founides to get a higher gp? Thanks, sorry for all the questions default smiley :)

Hi kittencat132!

The GP is low because we start with foundation horses; many of us with the old GP (350-1.2). You can also start with the new GP horses (2800 ish), which we call Rolling Gain GP.

To make a horse NIB, you have to make sure that horse doesn't have the same family member in its family tree more than once, except for Gaia and Ouranos. You breed the first generation (Sire is Ouranos, Mare is Gaia) together to produce the second generation, which will have a higher GP, and you breed the second gen. to produce the third gen., and so on.

You don't have to have a lot of foundation horses to get started, but it is good to watch out for them in sales so you can build your project.

Haha, if my math is right, hypothetically if anyone was going to NIB with one million foundations, their project would end with 19 generations.

Hey, I'm aiming for 10 generations and that's already 1,024 default smiley xd

It's a lofty goal to say the least!

default smiley (lol) guess that's kinda out of the question then. Not to mention the time it would take default smiley ^)

I should have enough Shagya to make it to 7 gens. If I can go higher I will. So I keep on checking sales.

That's a lot of horses Poindextra. Wow.
Maybe I can go for 10 with the drums. If I need 1024 I'm only 724 short default smiley :o

I have 109 foundies right now. :-*

It got so boring working them every day that I'm just working them in groups of 8 or so to BLUP and work down to gen 1 again.

And working on compers to get some equus for more foundies. default smiley xd
I hear you I simply need to have other projects going as well.
So I do. Kinda too many but well default smiley (lol)

Always looking for more foundies as well!
No matter how much E you save up. It never seems to be enough. You spend it so fast you wonder what just happened

I've got 40 drum foundies still X'D but I do know where my E goes. It goes straight to my GA/RC collection. default smiley (lol)
Ugh. I've been trying to pick up all the Hano's I can find. I even spent 200k on one because it had a GA. There's a couple in the auctions I have alarms set to try to get lol. I'm desperate. I really need to up my game.

Welp. Make that 111, since two new babies got plunked in my farm today. default smiley (y)

Best feature ever.

Oh lord no fair - I'm getting broker by each moment. Trying to get the current shiny divine I'll need a bunch of E swapping cards.
Buying more RG foundies or the old GP's will have to wait for a spell.
EC don't fail me now default smiley (lol)

@Axel'sMommy crossing fingers you'll find more that does not cost a fortune!
200k for one - ekkk well the GA does of course not make it cheaper. But they sure are getting more expensive now.

@Poindextra - congratz default smiley (y)

Right off to bold and bolt a RG drum so I can get another first gen default smiley ^)

Hey y'all, I'm relatively new here, though I've been around before and know the basics. I have an odd desire to breed horses that excell in barrel racing and am interested in creating a cross to do so, however I'd like to at least start my lines with NIB horses, where that goes we'll see.
My foundation horses are Quarter Horses, obviously the "new" type... However I do not mind crossing with the old type. Basically what I want to know, is there anyone that would offer private breedings from their foundation studs to my mares when the time comes? It probably won't be real soon, as I can't buy from the direct sales to build my stock up.. But will message when ready. Please pm me and send a friend request if you want.

I am looking to definitely add these breeds :
Mustang
Marwari

I am looking to potentially add a few of these breeds :
Appaloosa
Thoroughbred
Connemara
Paint
Arabian
And any breeds that exceed in speed, stamina, and gallop, as I do not know the strengths of each breed yet.

Thank you for your time!
By Retired breeder, 2nd June 2017 19:48:41
To add to that, once I get enough seniority..'bout half way there... How much should I expect to pay for foundation Mustang and Marwari mares? I'd need them to take my foundation Quarter Horse stud to.

I think I want to do something like this...

(QH stallion x Mustang mare) X (Marwari stallion x ..Arabian? mare)
Breed the resulting 4way baby to..
(TB stallion? x Conn mare?) X (Paint stallion? x Appaloosa mare?)

And I should have a decent 8way crossbred NIB bred out the wazzooo for barrels, assuming I train my stock correctly. Breeds chosen in my example are subject to change as I study on which would be the best.
I'm so happy!!!!!!! Someone put a couple of Hano foundies up for 35k each which I snatched up immediately. I then noticed that the player had a couple more and asked if they were willing to sell them as well and they said yes! So I was able to pick up 4 from that player and one in the auctions!

I also picked up 4-5 other foundies all for 15k-35k each.

So, my money went *POOF!* but I'm still in a great mood from my grabs today default smiley :d

@allroanedout welcome back to Howrse default smiley :)

Long reply sorry!
Interesting idea you have. Like it!

Wouldn't it be a shame crossing with old GP foundies when your QH has a GP that is so much higher? Thought I must admit I'm not sure all of the breeds your listing are available as RG foundies (rolling gain - the new kind).

I know the following are
- Appy
- Mustang
- Marwari
- Paint
- Thoroughbred

I've never seen the Arabians and the Connemara in neither sales nor auctions.
Has anyone seen those 2 breeds released as RG foundies?

RG wise (the new "foundies") - the price varies a lot.
A RG you might be able to get paying 5-20k or less. Or unlucky and will end up having to pay way more, all depending on the breed, and how many are for sale.

The Marwari are fairly often in auctions. The Mustang not so much.

If you want to buy old GP horses then it's going to be way more difficult.
The Marwari are very very expensive and rarely up in sales or auctions - and if they are you'll have to pay several passes for one. Typically 2 digitis worth.
I haven't seen a Mustang in sales or auction in ages.

I don't know if the following players offer public covers but here is a list. (Old GP)

Mustang
- Comatose

Marwari:
- Comatose
- lanikot
- dark_angel2788

Arabian
- Driananium (going slow)
- dark_angel2788
- Sylevar Falcori

I have RG's of a the breeds you mention, except Arabian and Connemara. But haven't blupped them yet.
So if you'd potentially need a cover from one of the breeds in the future, let me know.. Preferably so that I have plenty time to blup them, since I have a lot of projects going.
