Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

Thanks lyrael. I think I'm just going to go ahead and do it. I can't stuff it up too much, can I?

Also, chickennugget, I don't know what you're looking for, but perhaps when I'm done blupping the horse I posted about above, you may be interested in a cover. I know his skills aren't nearly as high, but he may be okay, I don't know what you're specifically after, but he does loosely fit the description.

Also chickennugget, I don't know if I have specifically what your looking for, but the horse I posted about above loosely fits the description you posted above. Perhaps, you would be interested in a cover once I BLUP him?

okaybye: Thank you but I'll have to pass. I really like his speed and dressage but his gallop is too low for what I'm going for. Thanks anyways! default smiley :d

Can anyone help me fill rookie gallop comps? I need around 12 more wins and I ran out of horses to fill. My horse is named Correr. He's only entered in "Open to all horses" comps. Thanks!
Does anyone have any high GP (6300 +) Selle or KWPN they would be willing to give a crossbreed cover with? Or know of a team that does crossbreed covers? I don't mind if they are purebred or not or a bit lower in GP but as long as top three skills are speed, dressage and jumping. Thankyou!

You can't find what you're looking for in the public coverings?
I checked my horses, but both my KWPNs and Selles are lower GP than in the public coverings.

I just bred a TB/wari, strictly speaking top skills are gallop, speed, stamina, but dressage is less than 2 points below stamina. PM me if you want to discuss using this foal default smiley :)
anyone know what would be a good cross with selle besides kwpnXselle?

"Good cross" is entirely dependent on what kind of skills you want. If you want a Selle with good stamina, for example, look at breeds that have high stamina. There are no breeds that are better than Selle at jumping, but Selle is a good choice for boosting the jump skill of other breeds, if you don't necessarily want a Selle dominant cross.

I'm looking for something that would be able to win rosettes in showjumping if possible.

Since you know the skillset you want, just start doing research on what breeds have the right skills and high enough GP.

Australian Pony could be an option, if you can get both a top GP Selle and Aussie.
Shetlands are most likely too far behind in GP to work.
Morgans' overall GP is on par with Australian Ponies, but their jump GP is a bit weak.
Hanoverians have high jump too, but their lower dressage might be a hindrance.

Does anyone have a Wari cross that excells in Gallop that I could have a cover from?

Out of curiosity, what are some of favorite crosses of your guys? My Morabs would have to be mine. I've reached Elite with them on the Morgan boards and they can see Rosette comps in both SJ and Dressage. I'm hoping to win one at some point soon.
@lyrael I forgot to check KWPN public coverings, oopsies. I've got a cover now.

As a lot seem to be asking about covers I have a highly skilled throughbred (hrh of Lochnagar ) who I would be happy to be used to provide covers. default smiley :)

What would cross really well with a lusi with no set skill just to make a good comper to cross with a good galloper down the road?
By Retired breeder, 2nd August 2016 23:29:29

Umm.... I would mix a Lusi/TB and see how that turns out.default smiley ;)

2.) Dressage
3.) Stamina
4.) Speed
5.) Jumping
6.) Trot

Are Anglo Arabians a good cross to start? What are the pros and cons?
By Retired breeder, 3rd August 2016 01:34:20
Looking for a drum horse covering. PM me if you have one available, we can work something out.

Wow, I really love that skillset! Looks like she would be perfect for reining. It'd be interesting to see what you'd get if you crossed her with a Marwari or Lipi to raise the gallop a bit.

Try breeding one and see for yourself.
