Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

^I'm interested - I'm mainly experimenting with different breeds and no set goal in mind, but I'd like to join if I can. default smiley (ow)

Well I would prefer it to have no one breed with over 50% of that breed, because ideally I'd like to cover this mare with it and for it to come out as a Quarter Pony.

@Union: Is it the same one I was in a while ago when the team was a thing?

Ah, the ones I have in mind are out then. They've got 50% of one breed and varying amounts of others. One in particular has a little Trake in him so your foal would come out Trake. The highest 4way cross I have falls a little short on its GP. He only has 5955 GP

Dose any one have any good barrel racing or dressage crosses they like to use?

Metallic Sunburst turned into a wicked barrel comper for me. I bred a Gypsy to a Lipizzan to specialize him reining, which he does do great in too, but his speed is so low compared to his gallop and stamina that he seems to dominate what barrel comps I enter him in.

So I bred this foal out of one of my PSH/KWPN twins . My idea was to increase the dressage by re-breeding the twin to a KWPN, the foal would have lower jump than a normal kwpn thanks to PSH but better speed. Then cross with a Selle, transferring a bit of gallop into the top three. Hopefully the resulting foal would be relatively good at jump comps with a lower than average for Selle jump but better than average speed/dressage. What do you guys think? Anybody got another idea for a good cross out of the PSH/KWPN twin?

Ok so I re-bred that foal with tears and got this. Kind of impressed as I see potential as an open showjumper, but I don't have any decent BMI left to do anything with it haha!

This horse is one of my favourites. I've fully skilled him to 8900 skills, not one lesson missed, and entered him in a bunch of open rosette comps. He's going to make the Appaloosa rankings, and I still have about 8 or 9 pages of comps left to run.

Thoughts on him?

If you want to keep going with jumping, you could cross with a selle, shetland, or Australian pony

Unforunately it looks like I may be dropping out of Crossbreeding for a bit or at least until teams begin to loosen up with their coverings; however I will be moving into KWPN breeding but before I go I would like to present the crowning jewel of my Ðâŋṡѐ ḍѐ ḟĕṻ line...

Sutādasuto! default smiley :d (who unfortunately is barely a crossbred however the project began in crossbreeding and I thought it should end where it began - that said if any of you ever need an foal out of her or anything I'd be beyond happy to oblige or help you get coverings!)

Until we meet again crossbreeding default smiley (l)

I finally finished BLUPing my two breeding stallions, a Paso and a Haflinger. The Paso is 50% therefore can pass it's breed onto youngstock, whereas the Haflinger is a mix of 5 breeds all under 30%, so good for keeping a mares breed.

NOW excitingly breeding a Friesian.. which i have not done for years. Should equal to 6000GP. Heres hoping it reaches over 8k skills...

I'm trying to blup an Aussie mare to use as a base for a cross and it just won't happen. Ugh. *head desks*
Why must blupping be so difficult sometimes?

What types of comps, what is the difficulty, and what's the name of the mare? I can try to fill.

Cross country or gallop would be fabulous. This is her. M31 Andromeda
Thank you so much! I only need about 5 more competitions.

Any thoughts on her, I could have bulb her better but I was in a hurry!

Has a cross bred horse ever won any grand prix?

Is the top Tennessee Walker and Nokota team cross breeding friendly?

Hello I am thinking about breeding really good dressage horses. Any tips?

Yes, several times, although they were all produced with top stock from the breeds involved. I can't remember off the top of my head what the breeds were, but I do remember a cross took the reining Prix one year.

They are not.
