Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

I have a Morab stallion (Morgan/Arab cross) with a relatively high GP. I can't provide a link, my phone won't let me, but his name is Turn the Music Up. He can be found under the Through the Ghost tab.

Does anyone ne have any tips for breeding an All Breeds project?
By Retired breeder, 13th August 2016 22:21:27
I have a blupped Morab if anyone is in need of a 50/50 cross.

Would any one have any tips on how to go about accomplishing an All Breeds project?
This probably sounds like an oddly specific request but does anyone have a crossbred stud(the breeds involved don't matter) with stats more than these?
stamina: 1170+
speed: 890+
dressage: 800+
gallop: 800+

There's a few different methods you could use when going about an All Breeds project.
1)starting with one crossbred you already know the breeds of and then breeding it to purebreds or other crosses with the breeds you need and cross them off as you go. This could be quicker in terms of breeding as breeding to other public cross bred covers means less horses you have to breed. However you'd have to check the breeds of each horse you breed to to make sure you're getting the breeds you need which could be tedious.

2)starting with one purebred, breed it to another purebred and another and another, crossing each breed off the list as you go. This would mean you could just use public stallion covers if you'd like and would be less horses to blup/age for breeding

3)own a horse/pony of each breed, pair them up and breed them from there and after the full first generation is born, pair them up and breed them and so on. This is the method I used as I thought it was easier to organize although it does take longer since I bred mine at a 70 blup minimum. Since I own all but one of the horses in the line this also means none of the horses except that one could disappear from the family tree on me.

@bibbs

ok jump gp is low on that one default smiley (o)
Ah Ha! I finally made this manageable. Cross mares that anyone can get foals from... Sales<Customs. I'm not worried about the last one. Somehow, she has a stone. Perhaps tomorrow I'll have some foals to share. My lessons surprised me and went down to 56. Tomorrow they should go back up to 59default smiley :)

Now that I've been reorganizing...I found a Paint/kwpn? colt I forgot I had. And now that I remember him, I know somewhere I have a Gyp/Don filly hidden somewhere o.0

Bibbs I don't have anything specifically like that, but if you'd like I could breed Empress to either Red Dawn or Ya Better Believe It (it's up to you) and skill/blup the colt for you to use either tonight or tomorrow?

^ this guy who I just remembered is also an option to breed to Empress (I'd do it tonight and probably breed and skill the new foal tomorrow, if you want to go with him~)

Thank you but it looks like even those pairings will fall a little short of the minimum stats I need. The cross of Empress and Ya Better Believe It came pretty close though!

I might want a cover from each of those! Unless I can get a foal from the Trake's dam, crossed with my highland? default smiley :dIt would be so perfect.

He looks good! I'll probably come asking for a cover from him sometime this week.default smiley :)

Thank you both for the help!

I just started dabbling with crossbreeding in June with trotting STBs (hoping to eventually add a jumping line too)...started with 5607.82 (BLUP) f. She suprised me how quickly she BLUPed, though now I'm adding Paso with a touch of Vanner and a few other breeds.

Decided it was quite fun figuring out the breeds to pair up to get what I want...now I'm going to start working on Sprint/Barrels Appaloosa and Quarter Horses just for kicks. Starting them with a good Appendix Cross, then go from there.

Wow! They are stunning! This will be my first time trying cross breeding for a purpose so I'd really like to stick to just two different instead of four. Which one would you suggest the most?
By Retired breeder, 14th August 2016 19:54:37
Is it worth it to try crossbreeding drum horses or are they better off purebred?
By Retired breeder, 14th August 2016 20:28:59

If youre going for rank definitely, at this point theyre still the lowest draft breed so crossing one with one of the others would bring skills up for sure. I couldn't say how well they would comp or anything though, I'm not familiar with draft skill sets..

That would be up to you. If you want a classic comp horse, then put emphasis on classic skill sets. If you want a western comp horse, then put emphasis on western skill sets.

Spacey!

Only clue you guys get on my secret 4 way project.

I have oh...5 more crosses due within a week. I tried to find an affordable high Knab but omg they're so pricey, so I skipped it for now and bred my QH to a Lippi this week.

I'm taking advantage of the fact that I have 60e lessons in my own EC, I almost danced a jig when I looked this morning lol

Really this depends on what you want... Marwari's top skills are Gallop, Stamina, and Speed. So, if you wanted to better any (or all) of those skills, cross the horse with a breed that has a similar skill set. This page lists (most) horse breeds on Howrse and has their top skill sets, it's what I use when looking to outcross a horse! Hope this helps!
