Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

i had a lot of luck with a hano standy cross, and those horses didnt even have incredibly high skills,. i didnt do any of the clouds, but i did try to do lessons, and he ended up with almost 800 skills, and im still doing lessons.

This is my new cross. I was trying to produce a foal with at least 1* in each skill, but I'm still lacking jump. Once fully BLUPped, should I cross her with a Hanoverian for the jumping skill or what other breed? A welsh? A........a.............what other breed would be good to get a star in each skill when lacking jump?
Hanoverians have great jumping ability.

I'd cross her with a high-GP Friesian/Hano mix, skyyie - that'd give you a foal with extra jump from the Hano, but without taking a hit in her trotting ability.

Thanks foxxxyblond!
I just released a small wave of the new Kobalt Dynasty foals into the sales - I hope they help in some small way to change the stigma of the cross-bred horse that we have all been fighting.

They are high-dressage, high-GP six-skilled Friesians, and so far they BLUP easier than any horse I have ever done before. Their comp wins are *ridiculously* easy.

A sample - this little guy wound up with 753 GP and very nice dressage. I have some fillies getting ready finish their Games who will make their debuts in a day or two as well.

My hope is that horses of this caliber will get peoples' attention and make them double-think the whole "crossbred, ewwwwww!" thing. I think the horses that we crossbreeders produce are fantastic because they're not limited to just being good at one thing. They excel in multiple arenas and can often spank the pure guys on their own turf.

By Retired breeder, 20th May 2010 17:38:25
I tend to blanket all the races every time I work her so I'm never sure who or what she races against.

she does appear to be thrashing the top friesian horses - even the fully trained ones default smiley :o (impressive since she has low trot skills and they have tons default smiley (lol) )
By Retired breeder, 20th May 2010 17:42:08
