Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

I need some opinions, would it be hard to BLUP doing 2 lessons a day, everyday?
And is this the best BLUPing method: do rides appropriate to skills until 3 years old, train in dressage and second best skill, 20 wins, then bold top 3 skills?

Doing lessons every day (for the best skills possible for your horses) is a must (though some players don't do it, you make 20-46e a day off lessons lol). I train in short trot rides until training is available and then I train all the way up in speed/dressage (no matter the breed) all the while looking for TOG to compete with. After twenty wins I finish bolding all the skills in any order default smiley :)0

Okay so I have posted a question about the displayed breed and how it was calculated before. I have bred 4 breed (at 25% blood of each breed) crosses in the past and recently started again to produce a comp horse I could use for my gallops.

On the previous occasion we thought the foal would turn out the fathers breed but it turned out to be the Fathers mother breed.

This is the URL for one of these horses: http://www.howrse.com/elevage/fiche/arbre?id=9193834

This time I expected this and planned it to happen that way but it turned out as the fathers Breed.

This is the Url for one of these horses: http://www.howrse.com/elevage/fiche/?id=10070128

Can anyone please explain how the same crossing turned out different? Shouldn't there be a fixed formula for this kinda thing.

Thanks,

Emem

I posted this in the game play forum and they told me to come try here so here I amdefault smiley :p
I admit, I've had the same problem. Once I logged on, and my horse was a completely different breed!

I think they are just trying to give variety.

beach horses- Really! That is nuts!
And emem, I have heard of other cross breeders having the same thing happen. It used to be predictable but it seems to be getting more random lately...
itunes-I'd say barrels will be the best and gallop the second best.default smiley :)

emen- I really have no idea... I would have expected the second one to turn out as an IH... maybe the game has been fixed so that if it's and even cross the breed is random?default smiley *-)

I am gonna breed my purebred Arab to another horse. I wanna keep simular skills. So, what breed would be good to keep simular skills?
Sunny - yeah. One morning, light bay hanoverian female. The next, a dark bay mustang filly.

Freedom - Try Irish Hunters. They are very similar.

Well I've decided to give cross breeding a go!

But the problem is I have no idea what to do!!! default smiley (lol) default smiley xd

Okay so I already breed high starred paints, so I was thinking that might be a good place to start. I only want to do 50/50 breeding so I need another breed to mix with my already paint horses.

So what breed would be great to use with the paints?

Paints major in the skills of Dressage and Gallop (and Speed is okay too). So guess I would like to breed with another breed of horse that will enchance Dressage and Gallop and make them monsters in the comps, but I have no idea what will do this the best. So please help and give me all the information you can! default smiley (y)
I'd be happy if you pmed too as information can get a little lost in this forum. default smiley :)

Sheesh- Possibly a QH, TB, Appaloosa.....etc. Check the breeding directory and see what breeds are good at those skills.
By Retired breeder, 19th May 2010 00:36:48
Paints are known for their speed...
Thanks guys. Now that I have a little heads up, I'll go and have a look at those breeds of horses. default smiley :-))

I am currently trying to BLUP this horse and cant get her wins any tips?Like maybe training more or different comps?Any tips would help!
By Retired breeder, 19th May 2010 02:58:31
I think that you should do comps that are compatable with the horse's GP for BLUPing and then doing other comps for wins. That is what I do.
