Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

My two cents for what is is worth...
There is background to bridget-xxx comments earlier and unless you were involved, it isn't really any of our business.
However, her horse is a young blupper, I was aware of what I was entering against because I looked first. Quite frankly, the name is a dead giveaway.
So for an experienced player to take affront at a blupping horse is somewhat amusing.
I have blupped two full Friesians in the last two days without a problem. I had my 20 wins before 6 years both times and I was entering just enough races to finish the gains.
I enjoy cross breeding and pure breeding. I seem to be able to do both reasonably well with my BPs. I haven't had a problem blupping since I learned how to do it properly.
I have learned how to train up a horse past the sticky spots where a player is going for most wins. And I have no problem getting more than enough wins.

This thread is not the place to be discussing player ethics and it would be a shame if it disappeared.

Some good cross mixtures ive bred
Hano X Shetland
Arab X Paint
Arab X Canadian Horse
Irish Hunter X Arab

I want to try someone with QH and Welshies.
When i have the time to breed some default smiley :p
By Retired breeder, 28th April 2010 00:56:04
RoseBlood- I believe that a paint mustand cross should turn out good as they both have good speed I beleivedefault smiley (y)
By Retired breeder, 28th April 2010 01:04:35
I think to make a good crossie you need to level out skills if that makes sense.
Like breed a Arab with a Paint. So it evens out stamina and speed skill. Get me?
Lol default smiley :p
By Retired breeder, 28th April 2010 01:05:07
RGCL- Yeah, Welsh/QH are basically the same in skills, but Welshes lack stars. I've bred a few myself. If you look at "The Wild Roses" affix, I'v bred and sold a few of those.

itunes- Yes, they do both have great speed. =) They have very similar Galloping too. The Qh will bring up the dressage in the Mustang.
If you need a surrogate QH mare RGCL let me know, I have a 14* mare with MA (purebred) that I'll be happy to help you out with default smiley (y)

Hm, well this is how I look at crosses: When you breed one breed of horse with another, the recessive breed of the foal will bring up skills in the dominant breed as well as bring down some. Such as an Arabian/Paint is a Arabian that has it's speed and galloping brought up, but everything else brought down more or less among the pure Arabian breed.
By Retired breeder, 28th April 2010 01:12:30
Yea, my Paint x Arab x Cans dominated in Stamina and Dressage.
And didnt get any good speed from the paint Lol

Paint x Can x Arab
By Retired breeder, 28th April 2010 01:15:04
Ah, so your the owner of that horse. I've seen her in the comps, and did well to avoid her I think. default smiley (lol) Nice one. default smiley (y) That would be because the Arabian and Canadian in her brings down the speed a whole lot.
By Retired breeder, 28th April 2010 01:15:35
This is my newest addition to my herd bred by my sister:

I'm about to produce the foal. It will be foals though, for I am giving my mare a Hera pack.. perhaps I'd be willing to sell the twin to anyone who would want him or her and train them up well?
