Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*/*

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you
zepharo

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

Edit by pixiesbite

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

i am kinda uneasy asking this, but why this thread is not in Game Play ???
Why would it need to be, it's not a question on game play merely a thread for crossbreeders to come togetherdefault smiley (o)

Wild North and the rest of you who are inquiring about why your 25/25/25/25 crosses are not coming out being the breed you had hoped for...

It has been my experience, and the experience of many other cross breeders, that after you cross, crosses with the same amount per breed spread over 25/25/25/25, it becomes random when the breed is chosen by the program. This is why I always breed my crosses back to a pure bred at least every other breeding.
By Retired breeder, 27th April 2010 03:38:23
I will add that even when it is just 2 breeds involved breeding 2 50/50 crosses together over more then 2 generations after the first cross it can still be random when the breed is chosen, it is not always the breed of the father.
Thank you for the help zeph, now I know to continue doing what I'm doing even though it was originally just to catch up with the purebreds GP I now know to do so to keep things in a predictable state default smiley (y)

Thanks for that Zepharo...something we'll have to remember...although that's a desperate amount of blupping...default smiley (lol)

jbradin -- as to your bm item suggestion -- I would be all for it, although since cross-breds appear to be the red-headed step-children of Howrse, I can see all the purists waxing on about how 'unnecessary' it would be....default smiley :p
When I bred my Welsh trotting mare (who has trot as one of top two skills), the first time I breed her parents together (sire was 50% Hackney, 25% Welsh, 25% Stb, mom was Welsh/Std), I ended up with a Standardbred. So I bolted her father to a mare and bred back to a Welsh/Std stallion I fortunately already had and then got my Welsh.

Part of the fun of crossbreeding is the not knowing what you'll get sometimes. default smiley (o)

If you look at my horses, all but a few are cross-breeds. I am developing a light bay Hano-Auz (as I call them) line and they are all sooooo sweet. Also I am trying to get a Shetland line, too but Shettie purebreds

Yay! I just bred a Morgan Colt with stars in 5 catagories. Now for that last one... His name is Hannibal and I'm just finishing games with him and he should have around 649.09 GP. (That's what I calculated anyways) Can't wait to start BLUPping him! I just need to find MA for him and I'll start right away! He should be a quick one to do. His dam has over 500 comp wins and is only 34 years old. Anyone have some Arms I can buy/trade for to make this quicker?

Well my cross is over the 200 wins now, i feel very proud default smiley (lol) Unfortunately a darling player decided to stomp my poor cross so she doesn't have the wins she should have at this point.

Clematis - I think I may have to drop you a PM later...... default smiley ;)

Reposting my request for breeding my cross to a nice 50/50 friesian stud....please PM me if you have a stud that may fit the bill!
