The NIB FAQ:

What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

I've had to pass up really good horses because they've had WOY on them, although I haven't come across a foundie that only has it yet.

I don't even think I realized she was without a timer until the other day too but thank goodness she was immortal as it took until she was 27 default smiley xd Luckily she still has MA attached so the one foal I will be needing from her will come quickly....after I get one of my other studs all BLUPd

Thank you for not refraining from entering against her I was so surprised, yesturday morning I woke up and long before she was fully trained she already had 19 wins. Got back from work and she had 29! lol

I am def. happy with myself for finishing her up and the day before I started her I had worked on a different stud with WOY so lets just say I am tired of the WOY as of right now default smiley :@ default smiley (lol)

I love 2007 foundies default smiley :) that's a nice one too Inner

I'm currently working on the above mare and I noticed she is from late 2007 with a GP of 351......I thought that big GP jump didn't occur until 2008 sometime but it looks like it started in late 2007

Yay a friend of mine custom made a foal for me and his GP should hit 355.86 default smiley :-)) now if I could just convince myself to actually work any of my foals through games next spring/summer

Ok, another random question from me...(I'm almost out of them I promise)

A few people have mentioned pairing up two horses and breeding a few times, then choosing the best foal from them.
If I were to do that, how would I choose two horses to pair?

If I don't do that, what are some other methods of choosing which horses to breed to each other?

I tend to use tears on most of my coverings so often times I don't necessarily look for the highest GP but rather the highest skills which sometimes brings higher GPs with their horse lol. If I don't use tears I really try to (if both horses are mine) I choose GPs that are similar to each other or by placing low with a higher one if possible. I don't do multiple foals just one from each unless I do custom foals. If I only own say the mare I will choose a stallion with much higher GP since I can usually afford to be picky default smiley :)

I believe there is it's just not as easy to get into as greenstar breeding so some of the newer players don't get into it right away

my two recent speed trained foundies. They are destined for each other when they are done default smiley :). I am thinking of placing WOY on Heartache and aging him on Sunday until he is 25 to see what skills he reaches. What do you guys think?

when trying to BLUP foundies (and consequently NIBs), is it generally necessary to do the training and rides before the comps?

i train my "GP race" horses by doing a bare minimum of training to be able to get the comp wins, but its seems counter-intuitive to foundies...since they have such low skills compared to even young horses of higher GP

Some horses seem to do better in comps if all training is done first other times it is better to do all the comps then the training as quickly as possible after that. That is what I did with Sasha (link on last page) and she currently has 35 wins all of which were won while I sped trained her and with barely any skills at the time.

Sometimes I've found it better to only comp them when you have a TOG and wait to be sure that you're going to get your wins before you train them. Sometimes this can take a few days, but I don't think I would have ever managed to get Olympic Gold (in my other horses tab) her 20 wins without really taking my time with her. (The GA and MB were just to help her along with her last couple of wins) It's just a shame she isn't NIB or I would have started doing paints as well.

The current horse I'm training for my NIB Morgans is Tamriel, who's only going to go through competing with made to measure tack, GA and MB. Although I might find some HH for her if I need to. I haven't used a Timer on her so she can keep her skills low and has to enter twice as many comps so it gives her a better chance at the lower levels.

Same as what Forest Queen did, albeit by accident. With WOY, you have to enter twice as many comps to get the gain that a horse without WOY can get, so she had twice as many chances at winning. I'm not saying that Sasha couldn't have got her wins without the WOY, but sometimes it does come in handy. That and Sasha got to do twice as many lessons, thus bumping her skills up as well default smiley :)

I think I've managed to confuse myself here. I will clarify if anyone needs me to.

Im new to this NIB breeding thing. Ive been breeding just to get cool horses, but I have a foundie Hano mare (My first when I joined) and I'd like to start breeding some NIB Hano's ^^

Any Advice? Anyone know where I could find a good NIB stally to bred her to?

DressageGirly you have 19 wins to get on her and then she will be 100 blupped..and then as you are looking for you can find a Foundation stallion or you can find a NIB stallion what ever suits your fancy and create a little one..and then if you like you can scan auctions or private sales for more NIBs or foundations...as you only have one hano that is actually a NIB the options are totally open to you..you can contact me if you like..Im also a NIB breeder as well is always, and a couple of others on my friends list...also check out the NIB list on my page and it will take you to others that NIB the other breeds you are doing as well..Good Luck..Happy Howrsing

I think there has been a definite upsurge in NIB's as of late. LOL it is getting harder and harder to find foundies in the sales.
As for BLupping my foundies I train everything but their speed usualy when I have a choice. I usually get the majority of my foundies wins via barrel racing. Only a foundie or a foal without inborns can enter the 0% speed comps. Sometimes it takes awhile for the comps to go through but once they do I generally have my wins then and there. That way I can literally bold out my connies other skills prior to having all my wins and know that I will still get my wins.
As for water of youth, I will buy a horse with or without it. Doesn't matter heaps to me on that. May take a lil longer to finish up with but they usually still turn out well.
( with the number of horses I work each day.. a few with WoY do not bother me. To be honest I ararely notice until it's a mare I am breeding.. in which case I could scream.)

Dressagegirly, there are several Hano breeders who have nice NIB's. Check out my EC forums I have a spot there for NIB/foundie studs as well as sales of horses. ( all are welcome to post there)

Starting RIght: Yes, I know, You have no idea how excited I was when she got her first win (She was like 20 something default smiley (lol)) I literally screamed! Im finding it very hard to get her to 20 comp wins, But I want ot get her to 100 BLUP (somehow haha ^default smiley ^) When I started I just trained her best 3 skills then the rest, (Having no idea how to BLUP, I know better now lol) so Im kinda working against that. I want to get some more NIB's but Id like her to have a foal that I can train up just for fun to start out : )
