What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

Can a NIB horse not be IB anywhere in there history.. because i have horses which you have to go back GENERATIONS and generations and generations and so many more generations etc. etc. etc. to find the Inbred horses....

abc123cde: to be a NIB howrse, as classed by most NIB breeders there must be no common ancestors in the lines no matter how far back. All howrses must only appear once in the entire pedigree. I personally wont have any howrse in my lines with dissapeared howrses in the tree either, but thats a person choice of mine. Means i have to keep everything, unless its a line from livelyblueyes or HYDIEST as we have an agreement if we quit we pass the lines to one another. Also means i cant sell my blupped howrses on to fund my new lines, but its my personal cjoice to do it that way default smiley :)

NIB crossbreds are fine too. If you do want them to be truly NIB you should check the lines all the way back as they wont be what we class as NIB if there are any common ancestors on either side. There is nothing wrong with inbreeding pixels on the game and you can play any way you want, and have common ancestors if you choose, i am just explaining what i mean as NIB and what i beleive the majortiy of serious NIB breeders mean. It just an alternative way of playing the game default smiley :)

@elizabethruiz You can safe haven a horse it just makes it harder to check out the family tree but they don't disappear from them so its safe and ensures you don't have to worry about them but it always nice to sell them to another NIB breeder would could use them.

i will now then atleast safe haven those horses i've used. i only have the one high hano and yes, looking back some dissapeared. most i thought i had sold to nib breeders and it infurriates me he dosent "count". he's my only high line, i am not going to go back and start from the beginning again! i know he's pure, and that is all that matters to me

Had that happen to tons of my horse I either sell them and don't earn nearly what I paid for them turn them into pass horses or make them fillers. That is also one reason why I hardly ever buy a horse that is not a foundation anymore not even from a NIB breeder. Luckily most where hardly worked on and not really missed.

Heh as Kaliko said we pass off to each other and are careful with what horses we use. As far as connies go I also trusr Hokota's lines and AdmYrrk's ( I may have misspelled his name lmao) He is good about culling out disappeared parents and being sure to sell any foundies off to other NIb breeders. I believe he is also working an NIB friesan program and Shetland. Not for sure though I have not checked his page in ages.
NIB connie breeders have one thing going for us. We keep a rather regular network of good NIBer's. .. Hrmm ok that came out wrong. You get what I mean I hope. The other NIbers out there that I have met have been pretty steady with their lines and such as well as selling horses to other NIbers should they decide to drop a breed or whatver.
Anywho though.. looks like I will be loading up my EC forums later with For Sale posts. I am going through planning out breedings and selling off horses I either do not plan to use or that I have twins of. I am noticing one main trend though lmao apparently I like twins. At the rate things are going it is going to take me all night long.
*sigh* and I still have not even worked 5 horses today. On the bright side though default smiley :) i finally have my first fully Blupped 3g .. sadly though I have no mate for her lmao.

I will not lie though i usually haven them unless they have a GA ( I have foud that a GA is always worth the investment for me even if the lines disappear once the coat retires I will get my pass back usually and sometimes sooner)

When I purge a horse from my breeding program, I'll keep it around to use as a filler or a pass horse. Now that you don't have to buy tack for them, I usually just put them in some comps if I don't need a filler & make sure I do lessons, that way I'm at least making some equus off them. But I only work them when I have extra time to spend on howrse.

If all NIB breeders could keep records of their horses' genealogies, then having a "disappeared" horse won't matter -- someone would have that horse in their records and could provide the family tree back to Gaia and Ouranos. There is no reason to have to keep horses you can no longer use, just keep your records of his/her family tree so that if sometime down the road the horse disappears, you can prove he was NIB.

I liked the idea someone had about using a genealogy program. Someone else posted the name of the genealogy program designed for dogs (could be used for horses) but I can't seem to find the posting. Could whoever posted that information PLEASE repost it or send it to me in a PM -- I would like to try it as it sounds like a great way to keep track of the generations.

But you can get an html code for it or email it to yourself (as well as friends). But it's geared for pretty much any animal. There's even a section for breed/variety & color..but you can put any type of info on there such as gp or inborn skills.

Some of the horses I culled I put in my other horses tab. I figure they will come in handy for pass horses and I will be Blupping them anyways. I tossed a fair bit into the sales however the majority I will not be breeding are in my other horses tab.
I have not quite finished my pairing up for who I plan to cross once they reach 100 BLUP but I am getting close.
I figure if I get them to 100 blup for some reason it will if nothing else increase their value should I decide to sell. *sigh* soo sleepy. Think I will head off to bed.

I am working with my husband to develop a piece of software that will allow me to enter all my horses' pedigrees (no matter how far back they go), and will do hypo-breeding to check for any inbreeding in potential breedings. I will have to actively input the information but at least then it will be logged and available for my own records.

If it works out well I'll post it on my site and make it available for free download for Howrsers default smiley :)
