Howrse turns 20!

HellOw everyone,

It's already been 20 years of Howrse!

20 years of breeding, competing, collecting, sharing, customizing, grinding...

A game is nothing without its players! Thank you for making Howrse what it has been for the last 20 years: a community game where you never play alone.

Let us know what your best memories of Howrse are.default smiley (ow)

Happy Twentieth Anniversary!
Love from the Howrse teamdefault smiley (l)

I did pop over to the Spoiler forum and it does look very promising, but... man, I wish they'd been more up-front about the long-term celebration and specified WHAT they were planning and given a rough timeframe instead of just being like "more eventually! No we won't tell you what! Just trust us!"

Especially if, as it was stated in the forum, the events have been planned for 2 years in advance. Surely they could have said what was coming? No? I get wanting to keep it kind of a surprise but just giving vaguely-worded answers across 3 different platforms and barely anything on the main site... I totally understand why people were annoyed, cause it sounded extremely cagey.

And there was no real reason to be that vague, since apparently they really WERE planning stuff. But I don't remember them ever stating anywhere prior to the anniversary *what* they were planning, what the timeframe what supposed to be, what to expect... just "oh, yeah, we're totally doing stuff default smiley (y)" elaborate maybe??? And if the event's really supposed to be multi-event, multi-month maybe say that at the beginning, PRIOR to the event instead of dropping a disappointing anniversary event and then not responding about it for a solid month?

Just. good lord what was any of that. I'm glad they really did have plans and they weren't just gonna throw an avatar banner at us sometime in mid-November and call it a day but SAY something next time!

I still don't believe this was supposed to be a long term celebration. they can. easily change things that were already planned to make it "anniversary" related. my guess is the next type of promo that is coming that is for the anniversary was already the one planned. they just changed it. look how long it took them to get something together. they needed time to fix their mess up.

HellOw everyone,

We absolutely understand that you would like us to share everything that's coming with the respective dates. However, we don't want to spoil all the surprises coming.

As we previously mentioned, our team aims to make 2025 the anniversary year for Howrse, so the birthday celebrations will be spread out over several months.

This was also revealed at the start, on our Dev's Corner: "And that's just the beginning: more surprises are in store throughout this anniversary year..."

Other surprises are still coming, including new special horses, avatar frames, events, giveaways, and celebrations on our social networks.

We understand that this reply does not address all your questions and concerns regarding the 20th anniversary celebrations, but please rest assured that this topic is being monitored and your feedback is still being shared with the game team.

Have fun playing!

oh, we're finally getting a reply, did y'all just forget about us being human beings playing your game trying to celebrate it and not just robot automatons that don't require any interactions from y'all? if there actually *was* a plan then why would you keep the absolute radio silence going for *4 WEEKS* with absolutely no response?

to be perfectly clear, I am not attacking you, especially if your manager gave you a gag order or something for whatever reason, but the explanation sounds super sus to me. and if you/staff had actually been communicating even once in this time (while, *supposedly* at least, actually reading the posts in this thread enough to share direct feedback to other people on the team, of which zero communication was the ****main issue raised****) the users probably wouldn't be in such a tizzy either. default smiley (d)

Like honestly? I am legitimately asking what you expect the response to that comment to be besides frustration at our pleas for communication being handwaved and dismissed away because "uwu you should have read the original message better and not expected is to clarify when it was obvious people were upset".

I agree.
The problem wasn't the "surprise". Yes, the event was very underwhelming, but the problem was the lack of COMMUNICATION. (Caps is for emphasis!)

That was our problem, and I quote everything Crookedstar said up above.
Some communication would have gone a long, long way with your community.

exactly. suddenly all they can do is talk about it. for 4 weeks NOTHING now all they are doing is talking about it. to me I think it's cause they didn't know what they would get or when so say nothing. ignore us pretend we don't exist. then suddenly look at all we are doing.

It sounds like the 'celebrations' are really just the same as they have been doing for years. More promos, more useless divines and more packs that cost a lot of real money. The game hasn't really changed much since they started having promos constantly. All is designed to try and collect more revenue, and who can blame them. They are a business after all. default smiley (o)

just saw the new announcement and it is an absolute joke. I will not advocate for firing anyone ever, but I desperately think that the person in charge of the decisions for this supposed "celebration" needs a chat and/or to take one of those training modules about community relations at this point.

can't wait to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the site in.... (checks google what my days of seniority translates to in actual dates)... 7 years! /sarcasm default smiley (d)

like, I am legitimately feeling like I have to ask at this point: is this supposed to be a joke? Are you seriously this disconnected from the feedback that you are supposedly "tooooooootally getting from this thread, guys" thread?

[insert 2 months of silence followed by a nothingburger of a reply from Ow that sounds ai generated with how it says absolutely nothing in response despite the word count]

@answrs your not the only one that feels that way.

Why on earth turn the celebration frame idea into a unlockable by seniority only feature... I lack words

yeah I have a 15th anniversary border from five years ago... and it will now apparently be two years before I can get the 20th anniversary 15-year border... like, *how* do you possibly manage to fumble this so badly if it is not on purpose.

Oh my, a seniority related frames on a 20 years anniversary of a game itself. Seriously, that could be done in any other year and it would be better in any other year.

Lol thank you so much for something I’ll be able to use in -checks watch- a minimum of 3.5 years.

They just haven’t got a clue….

Seniority frames have nothing to do with Howrse’s birthday, so why bring them in now, and ignore the requests for a game anniversary one? Creating a 20th anniversary frame would have taken a 15-year old on work experience 5 minutes to copy/paste and change the number 15 to 20.

And as for “and keep an eye out for more surprises later this year…”, well I won’t be holding my breath for anything worthwhile if this is anything to go by.

Sorry in advance. I have looked around but does anyone know how to access the "seniority frames"? I have the 15, not eligible for 20 but I'd like the 5 and 10?
Thanks

Go to your account, and at the top will be personal info, and go to edit your avatar. I went there and there was on Christmas frames up, so maybe tomorrow?

How hard was it to just make a generic 20th anniversary one? C'mon

Mine are not showing up on my app on my cell. I will have to wait until I have time to go to the classic to see what my two new ones look like.

Is there even players that have been on for 20 yrs to even get that frame?

I don't know how to add/reply quotes.

The frames came in but there is no frame. Maybe in the next couple weeks, monthes......?

Maybe there's somewhere we can make and incorporate our own? Just a thought.

Thanks everyone.

Hard reset of the site.
Press CTRL F5 on your keyboard simultaneously (sometimes you have to do it twice).
If needed, on Chrome, click on the "site settings" button and remove cookies.
