Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

Any opinions? I'm trying to get a Holsteiner rosette. Do you think I should try with this 50x50 filly for gallop/show jumping or mix in other things for a better gp? Or should I aim for Reining comps, and work on gallop, dressage, and stamina?

I suppose I could bolt her and make a four way cross with some KWPN and Appy or Selle, but would the breed turn out right?

So I have an Appaloosa X Thoroughbred and I I bred her with a KWPN with 6300+ GP. She got me this mare which I wasn't exactly looking for, as the stars for the Speed and Gallop lowered, but Dressage rose. I want to have a horse that has good stats in all three, but I'm not sure what breeds I should use to even them out... What do I do? default smiley :o
Very Funny Filly

Finished her yesterday if anyone wants a cross foal out of herdefault smiley :)

Expecting a TB/QH/Crio cross this weekdefault smiley :)

Here's the breeds that have high Gallop and Speed and dressage is still in the top 3. Hope it helps a little (skills listed from best to worst):

Paint Horse: Speed, dressage, gallop, stamina, jumping, trot
Chincoteague Pony: speed, gallop, dressage, stamina, jumping, trot
Purebred Spanish Horse: Speed, dressage, gallop, stamina, jumping, trot
Appaloosa: Speed, gallop, dressage, jumping, stamina, trot

Thoroughbred: Gallop, speed, dressage, stamina, jumping, trot
Quarter Horse: Gallop, dressage, speed, jumping, stamina, trot
Welsh: Gallop, dressage, speed, jumping, stamina, trot

Ah, thank you. I'll try those out. default smiley ^)

Boot Scooters I'm trying to make as Morgan Barrel racers. So Dressage needs to come down decently to where it's not in the top 3.

My latest crossbreed. 25% Knabstrup, 25% KWPN and 50% Selle Français. c:

I didn't do a total skiller calculation for him, but I don't think he'll be able to win rosettes in gallop. His skills probably won't be high enough.
He'll definitely have some high speed and gallop for a Holsteiner when you're done with him though!default smiley (y)

What comps would a KWPNxSelle be good at?

SJ and XC if you beach in Jump and keep stamina untrained. Should be decent in Trot and Gallop too, especially breed-only if it's a Selle, since the Dressage will be higher than a purebred.

Definitely show jumping. Both excell at show jumping. default smiley (y)default smiley (y)

As equestrienne1979 stated, it would be a great XC 'mount' if you didn't train stamina, and beached in dressage or jumping (the two top skills anyway, no matter which breed is prevalent). I have a KWPN cross who has over a thousand trot wins, you might try that too, especially since Selles are lowest in Trot and KWPNs aren't the very best at it.
Hey, I've never done a Appy cross before, any suggestions for a cross with this lassie here?

Mmm. Maybe a Mustang if you're shooting for speed. The top skills match up, except for gallop on Appy and Stamina on Mustang.

Try Paints maybe too...same top skills and speed as primary.

Thoroughbred has the same skill set it looks like, although I would do that only if you're shooting to up the gallop skill to at least 2nd place (I'm sure that would be the result, but would take experimental methods and depends on the horse, breed, and genetics of course).

Quarter Horse might be nice.

Since it's a mare you'll be using her to improve speed and gallop of another breed. You could cross her with a QH to improve speed and keep gallop high, or a Shetland to make a breed only reining and barrel pony. Cross on a Lusi for a breed only SJ, Gallop, and Trot comp horse.

TBs are the way to go if you want a rosette cross. I just did an Appy cross with Icarus to raise the gallop of an Appy and the speed of TBs.

New cross

Does anyone have an idea of what comps I should enter him in? What would he be good at?

Have a look at his skillset. His top three are jumping, dressage, and stamina, which means cross country.

The gallop would have to be at least 1700 to see rosettes in gallop comps. As for winning them, my latest gallop comper has a gallop of 2000 something (after beaching) and he's only won 11 rosettes. Of course at the moment there are at least 3 ridiculously high tbs filling the gallop rosettes right now, so you may want to look toward Western comps for now.default smiley :)
I'm currently working on blupping this stallion and I don't have much experience with blupping. Is there a way for me to know what his final top skills will be before they're bolded just so I have an idea of how far I am into the blupping? Please and thank you.

Look in the genetics tab. The three highest numbers are the top three. Looks like stamina, dressage, and gallop on this guy.

Also, before full training, you see three small arrows on three training bars (varies which bars naturally) that indicate the top three. default smiley (y)

If your only looking to Blup and not skill, then you need to finish training in his top three (stamina, dressage and gallop according to his genetics tab), and then complete all rides(forest and mountain) until he cannot gain any more skills. After that, he needs 20 wins to reach 100 Blup. Since you have completed training in his top 3, you could probably start on the rides. default smiley ^)
Thank you champion arabian and bluebrook
