Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

If you're looking to blup him using English comps, then you'll want to train speed and dressage as gallop, jump and trot comps use those two skills as the supporting skills, so you'll want those higher, especially speed since it isn't trained yet. For him in particular, since his trot is pretty low I would enter trot comps for wins once you finish off speed and dressage. His low trot will help him see lower trot comps.

That's actually what I'm doing with Orange here, who is also a KWPN. She's been doing quite well in breed only trot comps so far.

Okay, here is my first western cross. Roses in the Water. I've gotten her completely skilled, and need suggestions in what to beach into and out of. I'd like to try for rosettes, but don't see any in any comp type right now. So if you guys think she won't be able to after beaching let me know lol. I've never tried western comps EVER (seriously except for maybe twice on an ap horse that was already set on western for objectives lol) so I am totally green on them.default smiley xd

If you beach gallop, you should be able top see some reining rosettes, if you beach stamina, you should be able to see some cutting rosettes. You may have hard time winning, though, as many horses will have over 2000 in their main skill for those comps.

You could also beach either stamina or dressage and just do lower level reining and western pleasure. Or beach stamina or gallop for barrel races.

Here's the skills western comps use, for reference:

Cutting
Primary: Stamina
Secondary: Dressage, Speed

Western Pleasure
Primary: Trot
Secondary: Stamina, Dressage

Reining
Primary: Gallop
Secondary: Dressage, Stamina

Trail Class
Primary: Dressage
Secondary: Trot, Jumping

Barrel Race
Primary: Speed
Secondary: Stamina, Gallop
I made a spreadsheet...

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18adEg-FTsEw-qDgWrnX01pAHujfn2Q-wBsSewJOfKyo/edit?usp=sharing

it has some calculators for skills
list of breeds and their skillset in order of best skill to worst skill (all 6 skills)
comps and skills required in order of main skill to worst skill (both specialties)

the max IBS calculator is for when Tears are used
the max individual skills calculators do Not count beach rides
all max skills ones assume foal games were done and full gain was gotten

feel free to edit the numbers in the calculators...

but please do Not edit anything else...

I also have been working on This cross. He's a gallop comper which I've done before, so he's more of an easy success story lol. When I first finished skilling him, (about a week and a half ago I believe) He placed 1st in the elite ranking for chinos! I was beyond excited! He also placed 1 st in gallop and I believe is still theredefault smiley :)
How would a GV x Nokota do in XC?

and how would a Paint x SF do in Cutting?

I just joined a team, so I suppose that's normal. I'm just so used to having 60 points at all times!!! I hadn't bred horses in a while because I got more into comps.

And now to show off the first cross I've done since coming off my break: Icarus, an Appie x TB created with the help of the lovely American Horror Story team. I plan on gelding and fully skilling him (he should reach 8582.65 total) to see how he fares against TBs in gallop comps. Considering he has higher speed and gallop than a normal TB and Appie, respectively, I'm interested to see the results.

Queen of Candara

I just made this cross today and she has a twin!! They came out Selle Francais breed with the gypsy vanner skill set. I plan to skill her and breed her to a high gp Thoroughbredxkwpn stallion.

what do you guys think?
By Retired breeder, 6th June 2016 00:29:40

I believe I get the reference! just can't remember the name of the movie but it had a polar bear helping the kids get to safety where their animal companions wouldn't be cut away from them default smiley :d
Thank you! And it's actually a reference to Icarus, the son of Daedalus, who had wings made of wax and plummeted to his death in the ocean after flying too close to the son, but close enough. default smiley :p

I've been breeding purebred Arabians my whole game, and I thought I'd get into crossbreeding. Two questions.
Question One. What would an Arabian Gypsy Vanner cross be good for?
Question Two. Would an Arabian Friesian cross be a good jumping and dressage horse?
Thanks!!!default smiley ^)
