Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

Edit by pixiesbite

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

horrorfan ~So you want to start crossing breeding huh.

Here I have written a few things that might help with people that want to get started but am not sure where to begin. Hope it helps anyone out that is interested in crossing.

The first thing I tell people that are interested in crossbreeding is to NOT start crossbreeding just yet.

Instead take some time to plan out what you would be interested in doing.

Some of my favorite areas to look in are the rankings, sales sections and horse directories.

My first stop normally is the horse rankings and checking out which breeds I might be interested in. Just snooping around and seeing what is out there.

Once i have picked a breed I go and look at the skills ranking and see what the breed make up of the horses in it are. Seeing if its something I want to copy with better stock or just improve over all by doing a different type of cross.

Then I go and look in the sales at the natural body styles of the horse and see if its one I truely want to spend time looking at. I hate some of the body styles in the game so stay away from them unless I need them for a quick cross.

I also look in the directories to see what the breeds skill sets are suppose to be to then compare them to what the horse in the rankings are.

Such as say the Russian don jump horse. Is the #1 horse a RD/hano cross or something different for really good jump.

things like that.

Now mostly my goal in the game is to annoy people in the rankings for my own amusement. I like dropping horses down a peg or two at times just for fun. You of course don't have to do that but It makes me smile LOL.

Once you have decided on the breed you want to work towards decide if you may want to do a 2 way cross 3 way or even a 4 way. Just depends on what you think would be best.

as your working your horse start saving up your BM items or whatever you want to use to blup the horse up properly when done.

That is what I like to do.

Others breed for all stars or prix rankings for certain horses. Me I normally just do rankings cause its easy for me to do.

I own all the top #1 skill ranked Friesians in the game other then dressage and elite. Those are my babies though I should start thinking about replacing a couple of them. Some are starting to get a bit old.

If you have any other questions about crossing this is the place to do it.

Welcome to crossbreeding.

Good luck and happy howrsing.

Nice horses West and maverick!

Just picked up this cross from a friend of mine. I might throw a timer on her, and blup her up. I like her skill set.
I have a question about cross breeding. Does the foal always take the breed of the sire?

Yes, in a 2 way cross, the foal will always be the sires breed. But in a 4 way cross with 4 different breeds, the foal is supposed to take the fathers mothers breed. Doesn't always work out that way though.
Oh alright great to know thanks!default smiley :-)) I have recently just started crossbreeding, and am basically just experimenting right now to see what works and what breeds are best to breed together.

@tswizzlefan what kind of foal do you want out of her? When crossbreeding always keep in mind what you're breeding *towards*. Do you want a good comp horse? A horse that can hit th boards for a certain skill in its breed? Answer those kinds of questions first to figure out what you want to cross her with.

Tears are most effective when you are breeding together horses that are 100 BLUP, if they aren't, then don't use Tears, it would be a waste.

Otherwise, a horse being good at comps comes down to how their skills break down, which is were careful crossing comes into play, to make sure the horse has a good set of skills for the comps you want to enter them in.

And the number Jumping Don (still, wow) was bred by me, and he's RDH/Hano/Paint /Arab in varying percentages. I might try and breed another RDH for the boards, my last few crosses made their respective boards in at least one skill, and i wasn't even trying. I was just trying to breed a good Prix horse for each category, so I can keep the fountain, my horses love playing in it.

Well. I didnt get a nyx but I have Arms and a Rimer so maybe later on I can get a stone. But I have decided to BLUP up a pretty little Irish Hunt to go with a Lustiano Stally I am getting after that I will BLUP he foal and try a tesy breeing with a Stand/Hano my BP has. If I like the foal, I shall rebreed with tears an wahla, my next cross. And hopefully by then, my friend will come through with those promised christmas passes so I can skill train/BLUP the final product.

Maveric- I have comped against that horse a time or two. Very nice. My 3RD elites have been getting me my wins when needed though I dont comp the like you guys, swamping the comps for victory ranks. I use them when needed, thats it.

Rhori, it would be nice to see another great Don. I bred a 52* filly the other day which is one star betrer than the top Don but has lower GP I think. If you want to see her, I think shes a Mafia Horse which would be her tab too. I'd link but my phone wont let me. Or check out my breedings, her name explains what she is.
