Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you
zepharo

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

Edit by pixiesbite

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

What kind of stud are you looking for, Starcather?

Once I BLUP my newest purebred Mar mare I'm gonna try a Lusi/Fry/Mar cross. Breed her to a Fry stud, hope for a filly, and then breed that to a Lusi. Really hoping crossing in that order will keep trot relatively high without dropping gallop and vice versa.
Note: You might notice I seem different. Don't worry, I already have people buggin me about it.

So...any new crossed? Or finished crosses?

wow I don't even need to say anything in here and people talk about me LOL.

yeah sorry I haven't been posting much. Been working on a new set of EC boosters and getting ready for thanksgiving.

Right now doing prep work for pecan pie and my cinnamon crainsen bread with honey glazed walnuts and pecans.

But my next cross more the likey will be my gallop horse. he is getting a bit out of date. Just need to check out what horses i want to use for that one.

anyways i'm off to work for a bit then home to work my bread and pie then I might actually be able to log into the game LOL.

I have recently been breeding Anglo-Arabs and have found that, so far, the foal always comes out as the fathers breed.
I've just produced this goergous HanoXLusi colt, and I'm wondering about if I should sell him and wait for my PSH mare to foal a PSHXLusi cross instead...

Yes, in a 50/50 cross, the foal will always be the father's breed, in the first generation.

If you breed together 2 half and halfs with the same two breeds, they are treated as a four way cross, and usually take the father's mother's breed, which causes breed flipping in lines of 50/50 crosses.

For example. say you breed Marwari/Paints, your first genertaion is Mar dominant, the next generation will be Paint dominant, and the one after will be Marwari dominant again.

The only sure ways to guarantee the breed of your cross, is to breed first generation 50/50, or to make sure that the parents have more of the breed you want, which can be tricky and requires math to get it right.
I need a stud that would compliment this mare (warning, she's pure) with over 1340 GP and 1900+ skills if possibledefault smiley :)

Well, I'm going to have to find a better RDH stud, I crossed my best pure mare (and highest GP, period), with the best available pure stallion, with Tears, and was very disappointed with the results

Alexi

He's okay, and got better GP than I figured, but he's not what i was aiming for. Might have to fiddle and plan with crossing for what I want, I don't usually do four ways crosses.

I've also got a goergous filly that was the offspring of a rescue horse default smiley :)

She is:

Paint Horse 50.0 %
Gypsy Vanner 25.0 %
Friesian 15.6 %

My next slow BLUP.

Since the Don ranks dont change much, I will be slow BLUPing this pretty girl. She probably wont beat Xellossuts', Mountain King, but hey, I like her anyways.

Opinions?

Im going to attempt to do a slow blup for some of my foals I have around. Im more preoccupied with my layout contest. default smiley (lol) Im thinking of doing a Shetland/Hano cross. The hano would be the mare so it could have a better jump than most Shetlands what do you think>

I'd say good linage if it was one of the "testers" from a top breeding group that was sold so many times no one wanted it.

(I do know what I'm talking about with the testers thing. I mean like if they want to see if the two they pair up work well together. Sometimes they do that.)
