Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

Yes everyone!!!

I just got the Grand Prix Ticket finally!

aspleycountrysecrets - He is an interesting cross. I have not seen that combo before. I like how he has 200+ in four skills...it means he can be great at multiple comps and compliment a few different breeds when crossing again! default smiley (y)

Actually guys thanks for your input but I was expecting some of those comments. For the price I got him for I thought It was quite reasonable. Although you can laugh one thing he was got that was what made me buy him was the fact he has 4 equal top skills which would be interesting for comping and crossing over some other breeds of mares. Although I would keep him as a comp horse myselfdefault smiley ;)

I wasn't expecting some of those comments *typo*
By Retired breeder, 24th November 2011 00:38:01
I agree. I really like the horses that have like 4 really close skills. Plus I think we would be a good breeder and comper.
Hey guys, haven't posted in this thread since her but I just had to show my awsome auction prowess lol default smiley :d I got her and her for only 1,011 equus and like six aging points. Yay me!!!!

P.S. I know the foal's inborns are bad, and the mother isn't fully blupped. but a similiar purbred would probably run like 10,000 equus and that isn't including the foal which has pretty good genetics. Just wanted to celebrate the win. Please go on with the regularly scheduled and planned crossbreeding. default smiley ^)

TDD is half Fry half SB and SB dominant, what should I breed her to to get a good dressage cross? Maybe something good in gallop?
By Retired breeder, 24th November 2011 04:10:42
@twilightaddict I'd suggest a Lusi, because breeding her to a gallop horse will drop the trot stat dramatically. Lusis have good gallop but they have higher dressage/trot so that should help even things out.

I think I'm gonna speed BLUP my 74* filly, since Arabs have much higher GP now, and then maybe cross her with Xello's Morgan/Shet cross.

Hi guys
I need a little help with crossbreeding. I'm trying to to breed a horse with the most evenly distributed gp. But I don't know which breeds will give me that kind of gp.
Right now I'm fooling around with the different breeds but I don't think I'm going anywhere.
Your help is much appreciated! Thank
By Retired breeder, 24th November 2011 06:42:29
Ok thanks Fifthdefault smiley :) I will post when I breed her and when the foal is born!!!

Sky - I suggest you take a look at the breed directories and the top horses and such. Just to get a feel for what exactly you can find that gives the best idea for what you are looking for.

I always pull up the directories and compare the inherit traits of horses I am interested in.
I am going to breed an arabian with a lusitano...What'll it turn out like?

I'm going to experiment with crossing diffrent breeds. Rigth now I've crossed a Lusi with a Hano, but the foal doesen't look like he's going to tunr out to be a good alround horse default smiley :(

I'm now going to try crossing high GP Paints and high GP Appys default smiley ^) (I already have 1 mare in gestigation, but she doesen't have any stars default smiley :()

What should I try next???

Well, I've had a go with Standardbreds X Thoroughbreds, and they seem fairly ok. I'm also planning on breeding a few of those with Shetlands, to improve their jumping skills.
Later on, I might even add a hint of Friesian, to regain the trot skills and to improve on stamina and excel in dressage default smiley (8)

I'm also thinking about starting with Russian Dons and Arabs...

Hmm not sure whether to rebreed with tears or not...
Might just try another test foal and see what I get from crossing the mare with something else
