Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

If i wanted to have a cross to have- Stamina, gallop and trot as their skills what breeds would I have to use?

1- I'd use a Holsteiner/Standardbred cross.... I have a blupped Standardbred stallion if you need one.

2- Gypsy/Wari and Standardbred maybe?
By Retired breeder, 21st October 2017 18:37:24
Will the last one, I'd do a Paso/KWPN and introduce knab as needed. Maybe with a Knab/Paso
By Retired breeder, 21st October 2017 18:37:51
Or a Selle knab

I've got Anglo Arab, Curly-Thoroughbred. Half-bred (Halflinger and Thoroughbred) An american saddle breed on the way and Bavarian warmblood also on the way.

I've also got some Thoroughbreds in mixes.

As for where they are so you can look at them-- everywhere default smiley (lol) My peggie account expires today (gone tomorrow) so all my beautiful breeding farm and organizing will be messed up.

Thank you! Do you have a preference when it comes to a really nice skiller? That is what I hope I can achieve with a good crossbred horse. default smiley (lol)

It depends on how you define a skiller. If your idea of a skiller is just one of the higher skilled horses on the game, or one that will make a skills ranking for a particular breed, then I would study the rankings and see what breeds you could cross that are available in the sales/public covers. Going for skills is pretty fun, because you can cross a higher GP breed with a lower GP one to take over a skills board.

If you're looking for a competition skiller, then KWPN x Selles are great for jump rosettes, while Appy x TBs are great for gallop rosettes. Those combos are easier in the sense that they have high GP horses available for players outside teams.

OoOo I love the Appy/TB crosses. I have a few...or had? They were retired, but I think one mare can still be bred...hint hint. Anyways...yes, love that combo. So easy to blup.

Any Nokota crosses? Looking to switch skill set to a Gallop or Dressage comp type.
I’m looking for a crossbreed good for competitions. Just to get lots of wins with and rosettes lol

With the Nokos, I've decided to see if I can keep low gallop for gallop competitions. Any ideas?
By Retired breeder, 22nd October 2017 20:05:43

Selle/TBs are nice. I also adore TB/Lustianos for dressage, TB dominant

You could cross it with a Paso, maybe? They're the trot comp breed, so they'd have low gallop but high speed and dressage. The only issue I'd see with using a Noko in there is that their top speed GP is only 1100 or so, and Pasos are only around 1900, so it wouldn't be brought up a whole lot.

For other Noko crosses, I bred this Morgan x Nokota almost a year ago, and it killed in cross country and trail comps without me even training up dressage or jump. They could have been rookie comps and I've trained it up since too, I'm not sure.

How high of GP would I need to produce a decent comp crossbred horse? Do I need the absolute highest to have a winning chance?

No, not necessarily. But it does depend on what level comps you're targeting. If you want rosettes then yes, you'll need a high GP horse, whether it's a cross or purebred.

It's mostly being strategic about which skills you want trained up. Do you want to target lower level comps by keeping the primary skill low, and the supporting skills high?Or you can target breed only comps with a skill not suited to purebreds of that breed. I really like breeding Gypsy Vanners with high speed, because I don't often need that high of gallop or jump to win those because the speed makes up for it in breed only comps

Nice one! I'd definitely do Trail Class with that baby. Could also be good for Western Pleasure and Reining. Downside though, there's not a lot of Morgan only comps in Western. I know that dilemma all too well with my Western Morgans. So you could also do Cross Country with him.

Erm, let me see what I have if you're still looking. Although I believe mine would have some Noko in it as well.

Hello all!

I just have a quick question before I try something out and end up not liking my results (limited resources -.o )

I just bred this foal, a Gypsy 25/25/25/25 (dam, App x Fjord. Sire, TB x Gypsy)

Now, say I were to breed a full brother to her (obviously a Gypsy), and then I bred them together
Would the foal then come out Gypsy, or Appaloosa?

Gonna copy and paste my answer from gameplaydefault smiley (lol)
When breeding 25/25/25/25s of different breeds I've had the foal take the dam's last listed, which is Vanner if you keep that foal as the mother.

I have multiple foals I could link as examples, but I'm on my phone now. Brianna and William in my Breeding Projects>Frasers of Lovat tab are two. They're full siblings bred at different times that took their dam's last listed breed. My All Breed project tab has other examples as well.

I might advise breeding a test foal first if you want to Tear or blup the parents though as there were a few issues awhile back that turned crosses wonky. I think they were all fixed, but better to be safe

I just want to do it for a fun side project (not like I need any more but, hey, why not XD)
I was kinda hoping that it'd be a different breed, though
I'm not too fond of the look of Gypsy's

Is there a way to maybe get a different breed as the one it'd be?
