What is a NIB horse?
A NIB horse is a horse that is not inbred; every horse in its pedigree appears only once (with the exception of Ouranos and Gaia). Horses with "Horse Disappeared" in their pedigree are generally not accepted by NIB breeders unless the horses in question were bought before the horses disappeared and have verifiable pedigrees.

Are there green star NIB horses?
These horses have lower GP than green stars and other top horses, as not inbreeding limits the breeding availability and is slower to progress than breeding brothers to sisters and so forth.
**Misabel edit: The first Green star NIB horse was created on February 21, 2011 - a 6th generation Connemara pony with a star in stamina. He was the end result of a lot of hard work and effort, but now that some dedicated breeders have shown it can be done, we all have something to shoot for!

Are NIB horses considered better than green stars or inbred horses?
Goodness, no! Nobody here is attempting to make that claim. Just like the Zero GP horses, these players choose to play the game in their own challenging way.

How can I get involved with NIB breeding?
It's simple! Start by purchasing a few foundation horses, or horses whose pedigrees can be tracked down and verified as non-inbred. Then carefully breed them to create foals with good GP's and skills that are not inbred!

I have just put out some public covers from a 100BLUP Connie foundie stud, Burnt Umber. He is almost 25 and wont be made immortal so will be a good and rare addition to any connie NIB lines. He can squeeze out a few more over next few days so pm me for reserved covers.

LOL...I have to laugh Riven..you are bidding on Hanoverian foundations right now..and you stumped the rest of us..lol..we are used to heavy bidding all the way up to 13,000 for most the babies i bought ..and now you bid and it doesnt even hit the 1000 mark...

So at least one other person has had a second gen of higher than 357, that gives me hope. =) I did the math today and at 8 generations (the shortest genealogical tree I have found) you need 128 foundations to attain a greenstarred howrse. If, however, you can get a GP gain of 6 each generation, that could be as short as 6 generations, which only requires 32 foundations (a much more attainable number!).

The foundations are not the part I have probs with BLUPPing it's the future generations that I am lax about blupping. LOL i get bored. I love the foundies .. go figure..

Please check out this suggestion in the Ideas forum. It is suggesting that when an account is deleted or an inactive account is deleted, all of the players horses should be put in the auctions starting at 500e, allowing other players to buy them before they "disappear from the game. If we all vote for it, Admin may consider it.

I was totally surprised when it happened. I'd taken a break from my NIB breeding to do high star/high skill Irish hunters and Arabians for a couple months-- to get my EC under 500. And then I come back and instead of getting 355 at the most, I'm starting to get 356's and then... I got a 357 and was totally blown away. And I just had another one born tonight, too.

Sooo... I have a pair of 357's now, and I can barely wait for the temp to get over 50 again so I can start BLUPing them. default smiley (7)

OK, so you all have officially lured me into the world of NIB breeding! default smiley :-))

I had been working on keeping a NIB line from my foundation horse that I started the game with. I just entered his son as a high NIB GP for Appaloosas above. I've been following this topic since Riven started it and have learned a lot and decided to expand my NIB breeding operation. Spent the last week or so buying a few more foundation babies and am starting games on them now.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of other Appaloosa NIB breeders out there. If you're interested in my horses they are all in their own NIB tab on my page. I have my foundation stallion who is fully blupped and bolded available for covers. His son is blupped and available for covers, however I won't be using him on my stock until he is fully bolded. I also have a mare who is blupped and almost bolded. I would consider breeding her to an outside NIB stallion and selling the foal back to the stallion owner if there is anyone out there who needs some new NIB bloodlines for their program.

foxy3000123 - It all depends on the breed & skills. I try to race my horses before they are trained (except in Dressage & Speed). That allows you to put the foundie in lower skill races & comps. If your horse is already trained, pick the comp that you can get the lowest races in & try for the extra wins in those. Some players use filler horses with lower skills (but not too low, because then they can't get in the same races) and try to pad the race a little. Your other option is to carefully select races based on the horses already in them & only enter races with horses that have less skills. That can be very time consuming though.

If you post the horses name, type of race & skills some other NIBers may be willing to help fill the race for you. But that is hit or miss depending on who is on & reading this forum
