Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

Hey all, I recently just bred some crosses and I was wondering if someone could take a look at them and see which 3 would be best to BLUP first? Their all in my training tab. It would be greatly appreciated default smiley (l)

I was also wondering if the foal games have been updated? I was on a hiatus for a while and wasn't sure if I still have the correct foal games or not.
I'm looking for an interesting cross to skill, if anyone has anything they aren't doing anything with

Got my Trake cross for my 4-way Trake baby! Just have to Bolt her to a colt. Also got my Appy covering for the Appy/Gypsy half of it.

SaveRockAndRoll is the Appy/Gypsy that the above linked Selle/Trake will be crossed with.

Does anyone have any recommendation as to what breeds to cross to get a horse that excels in barrels?
By Retired breeder, 20th November 2016 21:49:34
@Barrelracer1234 if I remember correctly, if you breed a 50/50 cross to a 50/50 cross, go to the stallions page and look at the breed stats. I think the bottom breed shown will be the dominant breed in the foal. (It might be top breed shown, I don't fully remember)

So if it's a stud with the stats of

KWPN 50%
Nokota 50%

then the foal will be a nokota (if the dam is 50/50 and has no KWPN or nokota in her). Though, as I said, it might be the top breed (KWPN). It's been so long since I did a four way cross but if you try it you'll tell for certain which it is.

I think that's what you were asking, anyway? Sorry if I misread your post.

I forgot the quote, whoops! Sorry if this was answered already.

Gypsy or Arabian x QH would do well in lower level barrels. Beach for Stamina and/or Gallop and leave speed untrained.

Gypsy or Arabian x TB would do great in barrels and reining. Leave trot untrained and beached down and you'd do well in WP too.

Finally got my speedy crio! Going to have fun skilling him tomorrow.
Hey can anyone tell me how to tell what the dominant breed will be for a 4-way (25% each)? Or is that one of the ones that you have to test to find out?

Hi guys - I'm having some trouble figuring out what dominant breed my planned foal will be, I was wondering if anyone can clarify? default smiley :)
The stallion is 50% arab (dominant) and 50% GV. Arab is listed bottom on his profile.
The mare is 50% selle, 25% GV and 25% Arab.

Thanks!

This colt seems very evenly distributed, should I keep him and train him up? He's got at least 1000 in every skillpotential

If you do I'd LOVE to have a cover from him default smiley (7)

Hey guys, does anyone know if any of the top paint teams are cross friendly?
I'm quite keen to get a higher GP version of Nigel

I don't know about the new #1 team, but the Dutchman were. I have a 7144.24 stallion that I can offer a cover from.

Hey all, quick question. I'm starting a new project and I was wondering which breeds have trot as one of their top three skills?

Pasos, Lusitanos, Friesan, Hackney, Icelandic, T.Walker, Knabstrupper, Nokota, Standardbred, Curly.

It helps to go through the breed directories and make a chart for yourself of the skill sets of all the breeds and match the skill sets up to comps. That way you always have a reference sheet handy.

Legacy Ann - That might be a good idea actually; I never really thought about that. Thank you for the list!!

Yeah, I got annoyed with having to check the rankings or the breed directories for skill sets every time I wanted to do a project or compare skills, so I just sat down and made one up one day. Takes awhile, but it's worth it!

I can understand. I was having a tough time remembering the breeds that had trot as a one of the top. I knew for sure Standardbreds and T. Walkers. That's about it.

Can someone offer some advice? I'm having trouble getting wins for this mare, and I'm not sure what to do! Thank you!
