Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

Gallop comps for skills. Get speed and dressage as close to 920 as possible once you are no longer gaining from gallop, then do trot comps until you have wins.
Thank you so much!

What do ya'll think of this colt I bought him for 4800e default smiley (7)default smiley xd

I just did this yesterday! default smiley (lol) Except I took the Skill sets from the #1 purebred horse in that breed. Is there a difference? I wasn't sure if skill sets could be changed, but I figured I would be using covers from the #1 team's horses so if there had been a change I would have a list of the current one.

Memory is proving to be a lot of fun. Wins are very easy to come by so far, and he's going to be #1 speed crio after update by over 400 points. Really happy with how he's turning out.

Would you do blup comps, comps for wins, or both?!

If you are looking at their actual SKILLS, rather than the GP set, be careful. Most top horses (especially the purebreds) get beached. Beaching can change what the skill set looks like if you're looking at skills and not GP. For example, Selle's ACTUAL skill set is jumping, speed, dressage, in that order. But, they could beach into speed rather than jumping, making it look like speed, jumping, dressage. For the most part, it's unimportant, as the top 3 skills appear the same either way, but if you are wanting to breed to a horse who's TOP skill is speed, and you see a Selle with beached up speed and go off of that, you might be in for a slight surprise.

I've got one just under 6500. He's not 100 BLUP but he's I think 92.

Lol. Pardon my rant, then. It's been a crazy day for me.

eh, I sometimes say "skillset" when I'm referring to genetics. But since skills don't matter when breeding and I'm calculating genetics rather than skills anyway, I assume everyone knows I'm referring to the *genetic* skill set,. My mom does always warns me about using the word "assume"default smiley (lol)

The sheet I made up, which I did post here, is categorized by what their genetics were designed for. I made a column for each comp and then listed the breeds that had the top 3 skills that matched that comp.

I organized mine that way as I often only pay attention to the top 3 skills when breeding a cross. And if you're breeding a cross for a specific competition, like reining, I can quickly see which breeds have the exact skill set for it, and which other breeds have the supporting skills (stamina and dressage) for it. But you can do it how you'd preferdefault smiley :)

So my project is half-way finished. Deirdre and the test foal when blupped will both be top for Trot and Gallop default smiley :) And I realized I had this colt lying around and I really have no idea what to do with him; yes he is purebred. Would anyone want a cover for a cross if I blupped him?

I mean those two will be top for Selle Francais, not for all horses.

Awesome job on him! You got higher genetics across most of his genetic potential too. Mine looks slightly wimpy in comparisondefault smiley (lol)

Broken Toys and his twin Building Trust are my new Trake babies. And, on top of that, they're mother made #3 stamina Appy, without even being Teared!
OK quick question(s). I am wanting to do a 4-way cross with the end result being shetland dominant.

If all 4 breeds are different and 25% each the end result is determined by the sire correct? His second horse listed in his genetics tab?

How do I breed the sire to make sure shetland is in the correct spot in the genetics tab? Or is it trial and error?
