Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

Edit by pixiesbite

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

The Morab (Morgan x Arabian) project is going well. At least Framing Hanley and I seem to be having fun with it.

My most recent foundation Morab has over 6400 GP. Not too Shabby. default smiley ;)

New Horizon

They seem to do best in dressage, cross country, and jumping comps. default smiley ^)default smiley (y)

I have a question about Crossbreeding since I recently joined the game, when two horses are crossbred do they take the characteristic to one of the more dominant horse or some characteristics of both? I'm talking physical characteristics, like the fluffy hoofs of a Gypsy Vanner on a Quarter Horse for example.
By Retired breeder, 6th August 2016 17:33:07

They look exactly like the dominate breed, unfortunately. Crossbreds don't look like crossbreds on the game like they do in real life.

Ahh, thank you. they should do, that would be really cool!

It would also be an absolute *nightmare* for the artists that would have to draw all the crosses. default smiley (lol) It's a nice idea, but you can probably see why it hasn't been implemented!

I'm not sure the artists would mind (insert money noises here) but who ever has to pay them most definitely would.

There would probably be a way to make certain feature or textures as a separate items/layers on the horse but your right it would be complicated too do.
By Retired breeder, 7th August 2016 05:53:07

Howrse images already work that way, actually. Tails, manes, wings and horns are a separate layers so they can be switched around.

Making unique looking crosses is most likely something Howrse has very little interest in investing in, though.

So I bred a 75% KWPN 25% Marwari cross. I was wondering what I could breed her with to raise stamina trot gallop and speed. I am working on a project so multiple breedings don't matter. (Breeding one foal, blupping, breeding that to a different breed, etc, etc.)

I know curlies would get you stamina, trot, and speed, but finding a high GP could be difficult. Mustangs have speed, stamina, and gallop, Mawaris do also but in reverse order. And the four trot breeds (Walker, Standardbred, Hackney, Paso) will get you trot either speed and stamina, and dressage.

I do have a list of the three predominant skills per breed in my forum, if you'd like to take a look. It might help with what you're looking for as well as in the future. default smiley :)
So I want to enter my horses in the reining prix but it skill set is Gallop,Stamina and the Dressage. Would the horses beat the purebred Lippizan because their skill set is Dressage,Gallop and then Stamina?

Sorry if this doesn't make sense...

Trakehners do well in that Prix, but their skillset is gallop, jumping, and stamina. You'd have to breed something to it to keep gallop and stamina up, but trade jumping for dressage.

Any ideas on what breed I would cross him to improve his speed while keeping dressage and gallop?

censurer This message has been censored since it does not follow the forum rules.
Planning to cross an Appy and PSH for a filly, and a Paint and a Morgan for a stallion. Going to blup and tear the foals... and hopefully the result will be able to destroy trot comps. default smiley ^)
