Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

Edit by pixiesbite

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

Actually, once DandyMan gets this foal skilled, it will reach 1000 in each skill. I added each IBS to each GP and came out with 1000 in each skill once it's finished

What's her name?
By Retired breeder, 25th May 2016 00:26:52
Never-mind, I found her. You only had one. default smiley (h)

It is possible with a horse over 6000 GP. You'd need at least 800 GP in the lowest skills with good IBS. Noko x TB makes a pretty evenly skilled horse. I bred This One not long ago. If you don't beach ride him and do foal games he'll only miss 1,000 in Stamina by 41 skills. All others will be over 1,000.

Final skills can be calculated for each skill as follows:
GP + IBS + 10 (foal games) = Max possible skills.

This does not take into consideration beach rides or lessons.

Tomorrow? I get another Walker cross, should be 4000-5000GP+ depending on what I have her bred to...I'm thinking something with high Trot, since she's 24 and this is my only shot default smiley xd

Amateur Hour -

- How does everyone handle the consumption of APs in their crossbreeding projects?
- Are you a part-time or full-time cross breeder?
- What are you goals in your breeding projects?
- What's the greatest success come of a crossbred of yours?
- How many of you have unofficial teams/breeding partnerships where you share items/coverings etc?

Thanks for your time. default smiley :)

1- I limit how many I use a day so they can build up.
2- to create a good rosette horse
3- to reach #4 in stamina for its breed
4- I do have 1 person that I have an agreement with. We cooperate with one another with coverings

1: Depends on how many I have that need blupping and how far they are from being fully blupped. I really should employ an AP Farmer to help me out.

2: Eh, I've pulled back you could say but I'm definitely more a cross breeder than a pure/NIB breeder.

3: More or less to create a good size herd of Morgans that have their own specialties. I mostly focus on Western comps but my Morabs do fabulously for Classical, especially for XC. And I have two completed projects, All Breed and All American.

4: Making a few of the boards in Morgan ranks.

5: I don't really have any partnerships, but I do give and receive help whenever possible.

thinning out some stock and buying others. Want to improve my lines and trying to come up with a filly I want to breed Black Stallion to. Black Stallion on his first shot at the Grand Prix came in ahead of Bound for Glory! Still working on beaching him for gallop and training speed.

I hoard terribly, and only ever breed horses that I will fully skill (aka cloud pack, MA etc). Also AP farms are amazing
I dabble when I have a cross I feel like doing, otherwise I'm just working all my horses currently to build up AP's and passes
I like top of skill rankings in that breed and/or fully trained comp monsters (disagree with target training)
Many. I've had a few hold top of breed/skill rankings for months, the minimum wins I have on the horses I've properly worked is around 1,000 wins; my top is around 3200
When first Knabs came out, all the crossbreeders who frequented the forum then banded together and bred top level crossbred knabs as a project, until pb Knabs eventually caught us up and took over

I have an AP farm of 900 horses and do a lot of trading for MAs. I'm on 3 top tier teams (two prix teams) so I'm used to going through hundred of APs a week. I try to keep a stock of over 2,000 APs. I'm around 3,300 right now.

I just crossbreed for fun, every so often. There's no real profit in crossbred horses, so it doesn't make sense to do it full time. At least for me.

My goals are to make breed ranking boards for specific skills or a comp monster. Just depends on my feelings and how much I want to torment the other players by blanketing comps... default smiley (6)

I've made some crossbreds who have won hundreds of rosettes and a few that have won thousands of comps. But every one I count as a success.

I have two separate AP farms--1 that doubles as my pass horse farm and another of Immortals with Hypno's Blankets I''m building up for faster hunting. I try to limit the amount I use in a single day so I don't run through them all at once and am able to keep a small supply handy at all times.

I work on my own, and pretty much only work with crosses in terms of breeding horses, because putting genetics of different breeds together is the *only* math I actually enjoydefault smiley (lol)

I have a couple larger projects I'm working on, but mainly it's to hit the rankings board or to win lots of comps with a horse.

While I sometimes breed a cross on a whim, most projects have a goal I plan out beforehand. Each cross I achieved that goal with I consider a success

1.) I save them until I have x amount, then I use them until I have x amount. Right now I have around 3,300 APs. I don't go under 3,000.
I have an AP farm of around 300 horses.

2.) Part-time.

3.) To have fun learning to BLUP different skill sets, and seeing what the end result will be.

4.) Sweet Cherry Pie is probably my greatest success.

5.) I don't, but others likely do. I'm more of a loner when it comes to breeding, admittedly. default smiley (h)

- How does everyone handle the consumption of APs in their crossbreeding projects?
With great difficulty! Hahaha. I try to not go below a certain number, ie. 20. Events and UFOs are how I primarily get my APs but an AP-farm might be a good idea.

- Are you a part-time or full-time cross breeder?
Hm, not sure how you mean. I breed arabians and marwaris purely, but I wouldn't call that my "primary" breeding project and cross-breeding a "secondary". I work to make skillers, be them purebred or not. I'd say a bit of both, to be honest!

- What are you goals in your breeding projects?
To make horses that excel at a certain competition and that have high skills. I aim to reach the same level as purebred horses and then, under some circumstances, exceed that.

- What's the greatest success come of a crossbred of yours?
Probably "Serenity". She is an all-around good comp winner and wins most that she enters. She's a western competitor and I tend to just do a clockwise spin of all of the comps - she seems to do equally well in all. She's a cross between an Arabian horse and a KWPN.

- How many of you have unofficial teams/breeding partnerships where you share items/coverings etc?
Honestly, I don't - but its something I'd love to achieve and if ever anybody is interested in breeding horses together or in exchanging coverings, etc, then I'd be more than happy to give it a go!

I have a question...

Would a horse with
Speed- 152.74
Dressage- 175.71
Jumping- 216.27

Win agianst a horse with
Speed- 145.99
Dressage- 189.23
Jumping- 216.27
?

I'm guessing no, but what do you people think?

Speed is taken into account before dressage, but the difference between the two horses in both those skills kind of evens out. Does one have more bonuses than the other?

Well, unless horse two had more good bonuses than horse one, I would say no. Two skills are lower, and the main skill needed is the same.
By Retired breeder, 26th May 2016 03:46:50

I think the percentage are something like Jumping 40%, speed and dressage 20% each, age 10%., and there's something else for the remaining 10%. So assuming the ages are about equal, I *think* the second horse would win.

It says the order is jump dressage speed on the competition page?

And I'm talking Grand Prix/Rossette so both horses would be maxed

Heh. So it does. I have it written wrong on my sheet. I can't ever keep the order straight
