Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

i found it-it was standardbred and peruvian paso (they practically have the same genes).i found a better pp than standardbred so i bred my mare with the pp stud.how does Ace
look as a western pleasure competitor for the pp breed?

plus if i breed him with his mother, Dakota ,will i have a better competitor than him?aka will it stay a pp + will it be better in dressage and stamina?

my newest foal
what do i do with this beauty for comps, and what do i breed her to?

suggestions?
I'm breeding GVs with KWPN (they have the affix ~Dutch Cobs~), they're actually rather good. Only just tried GVs with Friesians, so we'll see how they go

If you want to keep the same top 3 skills, I'd say a Criollo, Quarter Pony, or Fjord.

Anyone want a cover from this cross? Odd combo but does fantastically in most classic comps. One of my first crossing projects, bred him to add marwari into the dam to even out dressage and stamina but the foal turned out really weird and I have no clue what to do with it. Maybe same breeds with Marwari dominant and 25% of each. I was trying for a 1000 even all potentials but low trot, for promos, but it isn't going well.

Hello! I recently started a Cross-breeding project with a good friend of mine. I was wondering if it is a good idea to aim to get a X-breed with one very high skill and the rest somewhat rounded? Also is it a good idea to cross about four horse breeds with the same best skill, but slightly different other skills, I know some of the foals we have gotten so far have gotten decently rounded skills.

One of the foals has the highest skill as dressage {Which is the skill we wanted to be the highest}, then she has a second best skill {Jumping} which is about 360GP less than her dressage. Stamina is around 600. Then the remains three skills are about equal in the 800s.

Sorry if I'm not making sense :0 Thanks if you can give any advice :3

I would say , go for it. And the highest skill being dressage is a good idea, since most of the comps require the skill dressage

Well I am serious thinking of doing another fried handstand (Friesian/ Aussie pony/ Standie/ thoroughbred) since i haven't done one in awhile and it was fun to do!

Just to clarify..

I have a 50/50 horse, Fjord/Vanner
If I breed the 50/50 fjord with a female Vanner, will the resulting horse be a Fjord?

A 50/50 cross bred to a 100% purebred horse will always result in the foal being the breed that is pure. In your case, since the Vanner will have the highest breed percentage, it will be a Vanner.

Would a GV/KWPN be good? Or a GV/Marwari?
By Retired breeder, 6th April 2016 21:16:55

My link above is a Mar/GV if you want to check it out and see for yourself.
