Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

It's all what you make of it. Different crossbreeders have different goals. Some are trying to get top rankings in certain skills for certain breeds. Some are going for high-skilled rosette winners. Some (myself personally) try to make the most well-rounded horses they can. Some just like smashing two horses together and seeing what comes out. You can do almost anything you want with crossbreeding and it's all up to personal preference default smiley :d

Here's my newest crossbred foal; Arab x Lippizan;

http://www.howrse.com/elevage/chevaux/cheval?id=47964266

I think she'll be a beast at western pleasure (just like her 'momma, 'Rainy' ) thanks to her high dressage and stamina, but low trot - at least, that's the plan! Still going to experiment around a little for now though, I think. default smiley 8-)
Looks good Stallanie, just watch out for anything pure with high stamina/dressage. But should have a lot of fun with her default smiley :)
This is still doing surprisingly well in open trail, despite being bred in December. Unfortunately not winning any more rosettes though default smiley :'( default smiley xd

WOW 879 gold wins in trail classes? I'm having some serious horse breeding goals right now! default smiley 8-) And thank you, I'm sure I will! default smiley :d
Take a look at some of the others under that affix default smiley ;) I can think of at least 10 other horses there with 1000+ wins and 3 with 2000+ (I used to have far too much spare time, and loved my speedy crossbreeds in classical competitions). Always fully skilled, I dislike people who train exclusively to get wins in one comp. But it's practise, and learning who you will win against and who you won't default smiley :)
Enjoy default smiley :) Sure you'll do well with her. And maybe try barrels as well, as the speed is a little higher than pb Vanners and Arabs who dominate the low level, without being high enough to hit the high level stuff. Combined with the high stamina and gallop you maybe surprised

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll definitely have a go at barrel competitions, see how she seems to do. Gosh, I see how crossbreeding on here can be a tad addictive. default smiley 8-)
Yes, give it a go. They can surprise you sometimes. I never expected anything out of him as he was bred purely for boards. And it turned out he rather liked dressage default smiley xd
It can be, and when you have a fantastic one that you have a lot of fun with it is fantastic. Why I still dabble occasionally when I have time

This girl's all trained up. I'm really happy with her skills, and she'll be a good mare to breed from.

I think I'm gonna do another one just like her, just with the breeds of the dam and sire reversed so I can take the Trake Speed board.

The gallop on her is amazing!

Perhaps breed her with a Selle x Chinco to boost speed? Only problem there would be jump, which would need a bit more improvement. I'm thinking along the lines of an Arab SJ horse, by the way c:

Mhm! That's why I chose Appaloosa to breed the Trake to. I gain lots of speed for the ranking board, but I don't lose out on Gallop because that's the Appy's second best skill~

I'm also really happy with that combo because I get 5 skills over 1000! default smiley (7)

Oh my gosh? I just checked and she made some Appy rankings! I was not expecting that... default smiley :o

10th in Stamina
2nd in Gallop
and 9th in Jumping

I love her even more now~

I like that cross

Has anyone tried a Lippizaner/ mustang cross?

Someone might have, but not all crosses are shown off here.

Hi all. If I breed my halfbred fjord stallion (50% fjord, 50% Vanner) to a purebred Vanner mare, what breed will the foal be?

Vanner. I think the percentages will be 75% Vanner and 25% Fjord, or something around that number.

I'm very happy with my latest two projects!
Male 1%
Female 1%

They're both from a set of twins but I'm only keeping one per set. I plan to breed them both together to keep up that Stamina/Speed/Dressage/Gallop theme. Should get some very interesting foals from these two.

Of course, the fact that they're not Pestilentia coats sucks, but I used a Hera Pack so I suppose 1% coats is a good enough compensation default smiley (lol)

Wow, they're lovely. They look quite promising! Let us know when they've had foals - I'd love to have a look! default smiley :p
