Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you

this is a cross breed fourm, your horse is pure breed..

I know, I'm going to crossbreed her in the future, I need help deciding what discipline and event to put her in so that I can train her for that, so that when I breed her her crossbred foal will excel.

That is more a matter of opinion, and the horse's comp dosen't affect the foals, the GP and bulp do.

I just go with the flow honestly haha, I do normally whichever ride has the highest gain first, bold bars with rides and comps in the mix and keep on going till holder and blup.

Normally I get all of it done before 10
my only challenge is the comps!! if i dont have a schedule to follow, the comps is where i screw up sadly

How do you screw up? Roughly how high GP and IBS do the horses you are BLUPping have? What do you do with the horse before you start competitions?
By Retired breeder, 29th February 2016 15:49:32
Do 2-3 comps each aging depending on energy used.

That how I do it and I normally get them right
lyrael, i start off with which ever ride includes more of their 3 top skills and i do rides until no more gains, then i do the second. i usually follow a schedule but when i dont have one i try to recreate one so i fill in the training bars on 2 of this main skills and ugh idk it just goes hectic from there on. lol

Any high GP horse you are trying to blup in rookie comps shouldn't be trained in any skill so you can find the lowest comps possible, looking for comps should be set to lowest difficulty and enter empty comps. Make sure you are filling your comps with low skill horses and if you have co-man ask that player if you mind if you use their fillers or just ask them to fill for you. And always return the favor when a player helps fill for you. default smiley :-))

OK, here is what I do:

First of all, pick a competition type to get the wins from. Then do rides that build the supporting skills for that competition. If the supporting skills require both rides, start with the one that does not also build the primary skill.

For example: for trot race, do forest rides, as it builds dressage, but not trot. Or cross country - again forest rides, as it builds both dressage and jump but not stamina.

As soon as the horse turns 3 years old, start entering competitions. Keep entering until all skill gain from competitions is done, or the horse has gone above rookie skill level.

Here's a trick to make sure you can get all skill gain from competitions (and hopefully your 20 wins) without going above the rookie skill level:

The amount of skills your horse gains from competitions is 20% of the horse's GP. So, a horse with 1000 GP in speed will gain 200 points to speed. Current rookie skill level is 730.
730 - 200 = 530.
So, if your horse has less than 530 points in speed when it starts entering competitions, it will stay below the rookie skill level even after it has gained all skills from competitions. Of course this does not account for lesson gain, so if you also do lessons with the horse you need to be careful of that.

If necessary, I will train the supporting skills a bit to get them as high as possible while staying under the rookie level. So with the example horse I would train speed close to 530 before I start with competitions.

Or, after I have gained all skills from competitions but I still do not have 20 wins, train the supporting skills just below the rookie level, then enter a few more comps until I have all the wins.

If your horse has very high GP and IBS, it may be impossible to stay below rookie level no matter what you do. In that case, just keep entering rookie competitions for as long as you can.

If you end up above rookie skill level before you get your 20 wins, then fully train the supporting skills of the competition type. After that enter competition again until you get your 20 wins. Only then proceed to finish bolding.

I hope that was coherent, I am starting to get very sleepy....
O.O

That IBS though-

I'm still not happy though, I need jump to be higher.

Any opinion on what he'd be ok at competition wise? or a waste of time..Some reason I really wanted to try Selle Francais with Lusitano plus I love KWPNs.

@Spozzie he would be good for jumping (:

@Starry97 nice! I think if you're aiming to breed for SJ then yeah possibly replace the dressage for jumping but I don`t think it'll matter since they're the top three skills anway

Sorry for the double post, I only joined a few days ago whereby the new foundies were 1046gp but now they're 1071gp, how far are they going to increase it?

Besides that Im working on the new foundies but I'm bred my 3rd gen with a 350gp foundation and gave me a 555gp. So its lowering dramatically but I was wondering if it would lower any further if the minus gp race still had some stallions available.
Is this crossbreeding??

I'm doing crossbreeding, negative gp race and NIB. The whole lot really (: Seeing which one takes off.
By Retired breeder, 29th February 2016 20:38:19
Sadly negGP cannot be done anymore howrse removed that feature unless you are starting to breed donks?
By Retired breeder, 29th February 2016 21:14:18
No but I can breed down to 0GP right just not negative gp?

You can still breed negative gp by breeding two horses with negative gp together. The foal will have higher gp however. It's not possible to breed down to 0(or negative) by starting with foundies because of the automatic gp gain.
