Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you
zepharo

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

That's a matter of opinion, but I personally think breeding together breeds with the same skills is only worth it if you want to boost the skills of the lower GP breed.

Covering a purebred Teke mare with a higher GP purebred GV stallion will only give you a GV foal that is worse than purebred GV. Covering a high GP GV mare with a Teke stallion would be a better idea.

Ultimately, it's up to you, though. My opinions are influenced with my obsession of getting crossbreeds that are better than purebreds in some way, but that is certainly not the only way to do crossbreeds.

You could try if it's going to give you a higher skills in those areas if not then I would suggest maybe rounding the other skills up first by breeding to a higher skilled stallion in the lower skills area. Hope this makes sense :L
Max skill formula : gp+inborns+ 238.5
Max inborns formula: (stud gp+ mare gp x .15)1.04

What is the equation for a three way? Or like, how do you do one?

You have a 2-way cross bred to a 100% pure horse.

X = Purebred
Y= 2-way cross breed 1
Z = 2-way cross breed 2

The percentages would end up as 50% (Breed X), 25% (Breed Y), 25% (Breed Z)

An equal three way would be:

Breed breed A to breed B.

Breed A/B to C.

Back breed until percentages are even.

Do any of you like my Creamy Cross? default smiley :)

I plan on making a similar cross but with a little more quarter horse in it default smiley :)

Look at the skillset of a paint and compare it to the skillsets required for comps. If you do that you will see that Paints have a suitable skillset for gallop comps, and really any classical speed-based comp.

I'm thinking of crossing my Highland with my Marwari. Good idea or no?

Okay thanks. So gallop and do they do alright in XC?
The cross I posted was a GV x Paint.

Ooh nice! I love how the skills are divided evenly, but just a bit higher in the ones you want.

^ Not really. Paints have low jumping in comparison to their other skills. You'd be better off in gallop, trot, and show jumping (speed-based comps, as I said).

I'm assuming a Paint X GV would raise jumping and dressage slightly, so it'd do better in XC than a normal Paint. Just look at your skills and base the comp you enter on its top 3.

looks good, ask ranknhorse for a TW cover, she is on the 2nd highest GP TW team, which gives crossbred covers, the 1st dosent.

Okay, thank you.

Though paint's have low trot, so trot comps are only good for BLUPing.
